2 days 17 hours ago True. The situation is never

True. The situation is never as simple as 1 SR graduating so only need 1-2 LB's. Attrition always happens, as we are painfully aware. Especially considering, any LB's we bring in will be freshman and will probably need at least 1-2 years to develop before they can contribute. That would mean that next year we lose Jake Ryan and Morgan and will be needing replacements. Ryan's loss is particularly critical because we will then have either a JR/RS So McCray and 1-2 So/RS FR LB's to fill that gap. Taking more SLB (2 let's say) gives us more opportunities that one of them will work out.

We took 4 (now 3) the year before and we only graduate 1 Sr. If the class balloons to about 20, I could see 3.

I don't believe NBC Sports comes on the basic Directtv package. I've had this problem for a while.

2 weeks 3 days ago If I recalll, I don't really

If I recalll, I don't really think that was an option. Hadn't we already resigned Franzen? I don't think we had the cap room to sign Hossa for anything more than a 1 year small deal.

I don't think we were ever leading for him. Weren't we only number 2 (to ND), even after his visit to us? As time progressed, it became more obvious it was going to be ND or an east coast school, mainly North Carolina.

4 weeks 4 days ago Don't they all play or are

Don't they all play or are ticketed for different positions? Marshall is a WDE, Hand is a 5-tech/SDE, and McDowell is a 3-tech or possibly a 5-tech also, I believe. But, you are probably right that the coaches are putting the full court press on Hand and McDowell because we took Ojemudia and Taco in the last two classes with Frank Clark being a Jr so there isn't an immediate need at the WDE spot. Hand could probably also play there I guess. However, I think Marshall also really likes MSU which has put out some solid D-linemen lately and isn't enamored with Michigan. See is committment to Ohio; obviously, he likes Michigan but he isn't dying to be here and is taking his time.

4 weeks 6 days ago Regardless, it's a practice

Regardless, it's a practice and not a game. It's not even a good practice because they are trying to avoid providing any insight into how the team actually runs in order to avoid game film. I don't really feel it reflects negatively on the Michigan faithful to fail to attend te spring game. It's cool that Alabama and the SEC teams fans show up for the games but the fact that we don't show up for a bs promotional event isnt an indictment of our fans but theirs.

5 weeks 1 day ago Maybe just ask him about the

Maybe just ask him about the NCAA and whether he thinks the organizations policies are the best for student athletes. Focus on trying to maneuver through the administrative bs entailed by the organization and if he thinks there are ways the NCAA can be better serving student athletes. You could reference our trouble with reporting and maintaining proper practice hours and cite how ridiculous countable hours are (see Bacon noting how many countable hours the hockey team gets for it's trip to Alaska). Maybe just ask about how tough it is to be serving so many interests (NCAA, osu, state of Ohio, fans, recruits, parents etc.) while tryin to coach and look out for the players best interests.

5 weeks 2 days ago I haven't really been paying

I haven't really been paying attention to what our fan base has been doing or all the comments posted here, but I do agree generally that our fan base can be just as bad as others. Watch enough football games during the RR years around the fraternities and you see plenty of unfriendly and smug people. However, my good friend watched the Kansas game with a bunch of Kansas grads who starting doing the rock chalk when Kansas was up 14. I also believe the Kansas fans at te game sounded like they were doing it. Not exactly the most sportsmanlike thing to be doing. Finally, at the end of day, I'm sure most fan bases are quite similar and we all have selective memories of limited interactions with each that predispose us to each group.

Wasnt it Brian referencing the Syracuse blog he likes and then noting the story run on it about the guy breaking his television? Doesn't seem like gloating to me. Also, posting the story about how one broke ones television with ones hat online seems to be inviting people to comment on it.

5 weeks 2 days ago Great college player. But

Great college player. But it's a fair point to bring up. His size is going to make it harder to shoot jumpsuits over bigger Gs and finish in the lane over even bigger Fs and Cs in the NBA. He's quick but not super explosive. However, with his defensive prowess and sheer determination/willpower to succeed, I don't think he would be a flop. I think he has a baseline of solid NBA starter with potential to be really good, maybe great.

8 weeks 4 days ago Then Ryan is playing the

Then Ryan is playing the entire game--Gordon would be subbed out by Bolden, Morgan, or Ross. That means no rest which is not good. Beyer could back him up on 1st or second downs--the more likely running plays--and that would allow Ryan to play a lot and always be on the field on third down. I don't have any knowledge on the switch or playing both but if they did play both as starters then they need someone to rest Ryan.

8 weeks 4 days ago I think it also listed Dileo

I think it also listed Dileo at 5'10 which is definitely not true. Somewhere around 5'6-5'8.

8 weeks 4 days ago Further

As RS freshman, they might be losing a lot of weight due to the greater demands of college program cardio workouts and then putting it back on with the weightlifting. We would really need to see the incremental weight gains on a more consistent basis than once every spring and fall, especially considerinhg that the coaches probably have a significant incentive to fudge the numbers a bit. If he is still 297 come next year then maybe that would be a concern, but plenty of really good Olinemen can and do play at that weight. Be more concerned if the coaches are wondering about playing a true freshman or walkon over him.

10 weeks 3 days ago All other problems aside, RR

All other problems aside, RR did have problems landing some top talent in recruiting, but in his defense, if he wasn't under the gun for the entire 2011 recruiting class and then canned, he probably would have been able or at least had a good chance of landing Dee Hart, Kris Frost, and Sammy Watkins (although maybe him to a lessor extent). Not to say that Carr or Hoke didn't and isn't doing a better job of landing top talent.

It's a nice seafood dinner. Not steak.

10 weeks 5 days ago Not only that, but LSU hasn't

Not only that, but LSU hasn't really hasn't had an impressive offense over the last couple years. They have really excelled on the defensive side of the game. Why would we want him as OC? Also, why would he want a demotion? Plenty of other schools that would want him as a head coach. Just a ridiculous comment all the way around.

11 weeks 2 days ago They might not all be

They might not all be freshman but they only run a 9 man rotation out there and 5 are freshman. One of the non-freshman was and still is hobbled by a really bad ankle sprain. He is not going to be 100% for a while; ankle sprains linger and the ligaments and tendons are always more prone to spraining. The team is still very young and inexperienced. And have they really regressed? We barely beat Pitt and NC State. In both those wins, we also had the benefit of a poor call in our favor to help stave off the comebacks. Even early on in the season, we had poor starts or poor halves of a game. It seems and seemed that so much of our ability to win games depended on our 3 point shooting, which we are losing as Stauskas is going through a slump. Maybe this is just a slump with some poor play, slopping possessions, a shooting slump, and the wear and tear of the Big Ten season, and we are losing our ability to overcome these setbacks.

Although I did not get to watch the game tonight, it has seemed our defense has regressed or maybe teams have identified our weaknesses and how to attack them, particularly the freshman. Maybe we cannot keep masking that 4 of our top 7 players are freshman who are not in as good of shape as all non-freshman. We will see in the next couple of games.

11 weeks 2 days ago Or we are just really young

When 5 of our possible 9 man rotation are freshman, we are bound to make numerous defensive mistakes. This makes playing defense more difficult. Making these mistakes exacerbates our ability to play "tough." Also having our only senior, Morgan, hobbled by a bad ankle sprain makes defense tougher (ha; that is truly no pun intended). With more experience and conditioning, I'm sure we will look a little "tougher" out there.

11 weeks 4 days ago I agree completely. However,

I agree completely. However, none of those schools are either msu or Ohio, the two teams the poster mentioned that you are commenting on. In recent years, I think one can say that Ohio and msu might have ha more success at WR but not completely. We could easily poit to two transitions between different styles of offense and the lack of a elite passing QB, which we can argue we are developing and getting, as the differences between our production of WRs versus msu and Ohio.
