20 weeks 16 hours ago basketball and rules

There's a good (old) essay called the Heresy of Zone Defense by art critic Dave Hickey. He basically uses the NBA to illustrate how some rules liberate and other rules bind and constrict. He's talking about the old Dr. J era, but it mostly still holds true. The basektball related part gets translated to the art world.

It's worthwhile if you're fan of basketball or art or just reading. It''ll take about 5 minutes. Take it or leave it.

If Michigan is in the game into the second half and O'Korn gets injured, would they /should they burn McCaffrey's redshirt if he gives them the best chance?

25 weeks 16 hours ago AP!

It says he's gonna be just like Adrian Peterson!!!

(it does not say that)

48 weeks 2 days ago 3 books

Just finished:
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Really enjoyed it.

Currently:
The Building edited by Jose Araguez. Short essays (like 2-3 pages) on specific buildings. Good so far.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. Really good, brutal so far. Picked up in big bend which is kinda where it takes place.

You're doing it wrong

1 year 10 weeks ago yep

intergalactic high character guys at that.

1 year 10 weeks ago and

what comes after the fall? more pride? or just more fall?

1 year 12 weeks ago multiples

It's a lot of guys in one class, but there are ways to create separation that open windows for WR's. Some of these guys will redshirt which allows the staff to focus on elite guys instead of filling numbers. Some of these guys have the physical tools to enter the draft early ir they maximize their potential. Between those two factors and the ball skills Hawkins showed on film this year, it could make sense to keep at WR until a need emerges elsewhere.

Did anyone at the NCAA ask the student athletes for their thoughts on these trips?

1 year 15 weeks ago Yeah

All those puns about Peppercorny

1 year 15 weeks ago Wait

I thought only registered and attending composite 4 star athletes got the Belk's card...

1 year 16 weeks ago And then...

Keith Richards would smoke the cockroaches.

1 year 24 weeks ago hmm....

There seems to be no correlation between on field play and the shifting of positions in this poll...

1 year 25 weeks ago Re: pass rush

Wouldn't bring this up otherwise, but in terms of lack of pass rush, it seemed at some point on the second half the refs basically stopped calling even blatant holding on their OL. Saw Taco literally get tackled out there. This may have been more of a factor tan lack of heart or effort.

1 year 26 weeks ago no no no

You're thinking of Emo Benjamin.

Eno Benjamin is the high school running back who is really into experimental ambient, somewhat electronic music and sound effects. He collaborates with that guy from the Talking Heads on stuff. Totally different guy.

1 year 27 weeks ago NCAA

I'm sure the NCAA will happily scoff at your video evidence of someone being injured. They prefer magic 8-ball's and bingo hoppers when it comes to time to make real decisions.

1 year 27 weeks ago Depth

Hard to say. Even a talented guy with potential would have a hard time getting meaningful snaps with this 2 deep.

We're bringing Rashan Gary off the bench at the moment...

1 year 29 weeks ago Speight

While it's early, and the jury is still out on Speight long term, we're starting to see evidence that he's the kind of guy who doesn't freak out and wilt in big moments. The touchdown pass to Darboh last weekend was spot on, and last year against Minnesota he stepped into a tough position and made some nice throws after a shaky start. No one should slap the "clutch" label on him just yet, but there are reasons to be optimistic.

Continued improvement will probably be necessary to beat teams like Ohio State. Hopefully he is on the Rudock trajectory...

1 year 29 weeks ago Thanks

appreciate it.

1 year 29 weeks ago So fresh

So clean

1 year 29 weeks ago well...

I don't know who Janet, Chrissy, and Larry are, but I've got friends and that's a fact.

Like Agnes, Agatha, Germaine, and Jack.

1 year 29 weeks ago so....

...we should expect 3 more years of bonus eligibility for him, right?

1 year 34 weeks ago hmmm....

I think we have to beat MSU and OSU before we can worry about whether they play other teams and whether they beat those teams or don't beat those teams....

1 year 49 weeks ago hmmm...

You're right. We should probably stop thinking critically about all things until the different dimensions things is possible.

1 year 51 weeks ago Telling

I give it zero fakes out of five

1 year 51 weeks ago To quote laramy

I'd have to say yeah

1 year 51 weeks ago the difference

While the offense the last couple years hasn't been what it was with Burke and Stauskas, it is sitll way more advanced than what Michigan ran under Amaker. JB's offense has pick and rolls, dives to the basket, and ways to draw the defense away from players to get them open. Execution hasn't been as strong, but there is a system in place to try and help generate open looks.

Amaker's offense was maddening. Literally, players would just swing the ball around the perimeter the majority of the time with no off the ball movement. There was very little cutting, they did nothing to move the defense, and that would be followed by a dependency on someone (Daniel Horton, Dion Harris) with a decent amount of talent trying to create a decent look out of desperation on almost every possession.

1 year 51 weeks ago yeah, but...

the fact that many of those highly rated players didn't improve (some seemed to regress) under Amaker was the problem. That, and an offense that seemed to consist of passing the ball around the perimeter followed by one guy trying to get off a pull up jumper...

Green Day - Dookie

2 years 1 week ago NCAA

The NCAA will put an end to this effective immediately.
