|1 day 1 hour ago||This is the past- the Future is NOW||
Who cares what past 10 year's record is- we had good to crap coaches that did not get the most out of the talent they had.
This is the most talented defense since 1997 and we have a coach that knows how to win. This tide will turn starting tomorrow.
FWIW- Lloyd Carr dominated top 10 teams at the beginning of his tenure. I believe at one point he was 10-1 against top 10 ranked teams. His effectiveness reall started to fail in the early 90s. Partly due to motivation, partly due to some coordinators, and massively due to being incredibly predictable in play calling.

Three and out on offense every time! Michigan's D is designed not to allow the very strategy that you believe Wisconsin would like to employ.
|1 day 7 hours ago||If Wisconsin scores more than 14 then Michigan had a bad day||
Here is my prediction:
21 points from our offense
1 Defensive touchdown
1-2 Special Teams touchdowns or short fields created
14 points or less scored by Wisconsin
I'm going to be disappointed if Michigan doesn't win this game in similar fashion to the Northwestern game last year.

Reminds me of the the Basketball teams last NCAA finals tourney run. I swear after every game we would win the narrative would be- Yes Michigan has great numbers offensively but now they are facing the team that they can't beat. VCU was going to shut us down with Havoc - nope easy win, Kansas was going to beat us with better athletes (actually I still don't know how we won this other than Trey Burke!!, Florida had the #4 defense Michigan wouldn't be able to score turned into a rain of threes!
I'm believe that this game will be similar to Northwestern last year.
Wisconson was #11 and I think a better team in 2014 and the Buckeyes beat them badly

More importantly, FEI and most advanced stats give Michigan a big advantage and likeliood of winning this game. The line is now 10 points and while lines are often wrong, they are the best and most accurate way to assess any given football game (IMO).
Having watched both teams my take is that Michigan is better at almost every position with the significant exception of FG kicker. However, even this may be an advantage if it causes Harbaugh to go for more 4th down conversions.

He fielded at Michigan a solid somewhat risk averse defense with some great defensive players. This yeilded a dominant defense against bad to mediocre offenses and was painfully ineffective against better offenses.
His complete inability to adapt his scheme against Indiana and OSU last year makes him at best a good DC. Michigan also showed little ability to stop Minnesota last year.
He may be a great guy and a good HC but I certainly don't think there is good data to show that he's a great DC.

He's a good but not great coach. He will probably average an 8-4 season at Notre Dame and I would bet that he loses to Harbaugh 80% of our games.
While it was fun beating Notre Dame when they had a decided schematic advantage, a coach like Weiss can't last at a school that expects to win.
Kelly is good enough to keep his job at Notre Dame but not good enough to be a threat so he's exactly the level of coach that I like to see our rivals have. Also, I enjoy watching his face turn purple.

Vegas lines are the aggregate bet made by the betting population. Vegas takes 10% either way and they are simply setting a line or adjusting the line such that there is 50% of the money on either side of the equation.
People who believe Fandom changes the odds I think are wrong becasue if this were the case a bettor could make money by consistently betting against what EveryoneMurders calls "name" schools.
In effect, Vegas crowdsources the betting line (not the initial betting line) and the crowd in aggregate is pretty smart. Just like the stock market the line can be way off for some games but in the aggregate the line is amazingly accurate and very difficult if not impossible to beat long term.

I would also like to see us dominate the Sparty series like owned Penn State for their first 10 years in the B10. Yes, I can hope for this even before we beat MSU and OSU!
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Yes- we should Root for OSU over Oklahoma-||
But for me, I feel like I win whichever way the OSU/Oklahoma game goes!
Will be a good chance to see if Herman is a better coach than Meyer.

You should probably stick to running the defense for Oregon!

We scheduled UCF when or right after they won the Fiesta bowl. I think they looked a decent team. I don't know UCF's schedule but from my observation of their play I'd guess they go at least 6-6 this year. I believe their record after losing to Michigan is 1-1 which is the same record that Oklahoma currently has.

While I'd like to see good Michigan non-conference games, making the non conference schedule easy is part of a good strategy to have a shot at a natonal championship. Less risk, less wear on the team, better chance to practice different plays and players.
This has been OSU's strategy for years and it has paid off. I don't know how they accidentally scheduled Oklahoma.
A 1 loss Bg10 champion will get in almost every time. Michigan State was not very good last year and they made the championship. They had a fairly easy schedule, 3 very lucky wins and still they got in.
If we are shooting for national championships we should only schedule one at most competitive game in the non conference schedule.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||I'm hoping U of M is more similar to the84-85 Chicago Bears-||
Their defensive strategy sounds similar to Brown's: Req the play rather than react to what the offense runs. Da Bears destroyed quarterbacks regularly- we didn't see enough of that against the better offensive teams on the schedule.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||OSU to Michigan not analogous to LSU to Alabama||
Most Notably- Les Miles is a quarterback Un-Whisperer, while Harbaugh is likely the best HC- quarterback selection/developer in college football.
Because the QB is so critical to CFB success, having possibly the best possible coach should provide U of M with good chance of at least playing even with OSU.
The talent gap should be small enough that better development or coaching and a difference in team culture will allow U of M to more than hold their own in the series starting this year.
And please don't doubt that there is a major difference in team cultures between OSU and U of M. There is a reason why U of M's top draft picks from last year (Butt & Lewis) stayed for their senior year while everyone at OSU with the exception of Barret bolted for the NFL.

I know, I shouldn't ask this question until we beat MSU and OSU!
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Not Caught by Surprise by IU & OSU-||
We had injuries and a DO who didn't have a good plan or even some solid options in trying to stop good spread offenses.
Thankfully Wilson is not a smart clock manager. If he were, he would have scored more slowly on IU's last possession against MIchigan and left Michigan without enough time left to score.
Dantonio showed the importance of this and beat both OSU and Iowa by scoring on each oppononent with close to 0 seconds left on the clock.
I'm not a Dantonio fan but his end game coaching in both of those games was masterful.

I don't love their interface but after using it a lot they have almost every song and a wide variety of stations for when I don't feel like listening to one of my playlists. I think a family membership is 16.95/month.
I have a SONOS system at home and it works with Apple music but not Google Music or Amazon.
I used Songza before Google bought them but after the acquisiton they changed it to Google Music.

Watched every game and somehow knew this was a team of destiny. Even down 21 to Iowa in the first half I wasn't too concerned.
I had to watch half the games at a sports bar or restaurant due to lack of cable. My wonderful MGOWife watched every game with me!

I've chatted with him and he's a pretty nice guy. Last time I saw him he was wearing a UCLA hat to commemorate UCLA's 1966 team.
Sadly I don't think we can expect that level of domination versus OSU anytime soon (but I still hold out hope!)

I want my kids (3 will share the same car) to have something pretty nice but not fast. My best friend and roommate from college was killed when a pickup hit his Honda Accord head on- I am sure that I'm putting too much focus on this but I want a car that is at least as high as a truck if there is a collision.
Plus- I first drove my mom's car which was a volkswagen vanagon then a toyota station wagon- I want my kids to have something reasonably cool!

Response to Readyourguard's comment about Moeller's recommendation to punch anyone in the nose who says you are going to be good.
Moeller may be a fine guy but was fired after disorderly conduct at a restaurant. HIs record his last two years was 8-4 which is what I think would have been his average record long term at Michigan-
I was finishing my MBA when this happened:

I believe that MSU losing their recent advantage in recruiting the State of Michigan will cause Michigan to again dominate the series. MSU also had benefitted from recruits referred from Ohio State and I'm guessing that this pipeline has ended (or been shifted to Pitt and Houston).
These effects combined with the fact that Harbaugh is a better overall and in game coach than Carr or Moeller were should result in Michigan winning more than 2/3rds of our games versus Michigan State.
And for those who say, "let's beat MSU once before we proclaim dominance, etc.." I say- Harbaugh
