We were never going to…

We were never going to pursue Caleb Downs. We have two 5th year senior safeties coming back.

Not sure what #3 was but I’m sure it was extra salacious…

He does a nice job as a…

He does a nice job as a backup center and has great touch and footwork around the rim. That said, he’s a bit of a black hole when he gets the ball. I was pretty confused why our offense seemed set on forcing the ball through him last night when he probably had the worst 1 on 1 matchup on the court.

And he’s bringing Jon Tenuta with him!

Unless UM wants to hire…

Unless UM wants to hire Yaklich or Washington, we should operate under the assumption that they will be coaching at other destinations next season. It’s pretty rare for a new HC to come in and retain assistant coaches from the previous regime.

I would definitely assume…

I would definitely assume Yak and Saddi to be gone with a coaching transition. Whoever Warde hires should be allowed/encouraged to bring in whatever assistants he feels are best for the program moving forward.

Definitely one of the most depressing parts of this transition will be losing Yaklich as an assistant. His work on our defense was transformative to the program.

Much of the credit in the…

Much of the credit in the Morris recruitment should probably go to then assistant coach John Mahoney, who notably sent Morris a hand-written letter every day during his recruitment.

But if you are Martell, why…

But if you are Martell, why start this year only to be passed over when Fields becomes eligible the following season? He’s been recruited over - so better to move to a destination where he is wanted and will be utilized.

FWIW - they were one…

FWIW - they were one Maryland 2 point conversion from a Big Ten Championship this year. So I wouldn’t say that’s impossible.

If he felt so unsafe, than…

If he felt so unsafe, than why is he still on UGA’s campus, running with the 2s?

He will have to sit out a year - so they will definitely be hurting at QB next year if (when?) Haskins goes pro.

He will sign with Bama next week.

Two biggest games?

OSU and ???

i feel like the offensive playcalling was largely improved this year outside of the OSU game. I think most of the improvement was from having a better OL and a competent QB. Sometimes it was a little conservative - but was called as expected for a team with a dominant defense.

This is not a thing.

No one…

This is not a thing.

No one places “blood filters” for arthroscopic ACL reconstruction surgery. The evidence is questionable at best regarding placement of IVC filters for patients at high risk for venous thromboembolism undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.

Yes, the kids are the real…

Yes, the kids are the real victims - Zach and Courtney Smith's kids that is - who had to watch their dad physically abuse their mother while Urban Meyer allowed him to stay on staff at OSU.

I’d probably give the edge to

I’d probably give the edge to 16. That team had an “x-factor” in Peppers that opponents needed to account for and game plan against on defense and offense. Maybe a similar player will emerge for the 18 team, but for now it’s a relative unknown.

That felt like karma for the

That felt like karma for the Poole shot. Tough loss, but I'd say we still got the better of it.

The better question to ask

The better question to ask would be how many of those guys benefitted or improved their stock from their time spent at MSU. The list really shrinks.

Goran Suton - came in as a prospect outside of the top 100, developed toward the end of his college career and became a second round NBA draft pick

Draymond Green - mid 4-star recruit, decommitted from UK after Tubby Smith was run out of town, developed over 4 years to become a dominant college player, first team all-american, and a second round NBA draft pick

Denzel Valentine - recruited as a prospect outside the top 100, developed over 4 years, earned NCAA POY as a senior and a first round draft pick

That's all I can come up with. So it appears that Izzo successfully "developed" 3 players to a high level of NBA potential over a 15 year period. Compare that to Beilein's growing list of unheralded recruits becoming first round early entry NBA draft selections (Burke, Hardaway, Stauskas, Levert, Wilson).

Wait, you are upset that

Wait, you are upset that Purdue (who we went 1-2 against) was seeded higher than us?

How could they seriously

How could they seriously consider hiring him when he is looking at a probable show cause penalty for the Bowen recruitment?

Not to say that he is

Not to say that he is completely free of risk given we don’t know the pathology, but as far as his cardiac function is concerned, he basically passed an exercise stress test every day for the past 4 years.

Another win against MSU could

Another win against MSU could see this team climb as high as a 4 seed. Bring on Sparty.

That’s the role of the

That’s the role of the compliance department. They have to look for that kind of thing. If MSU compliance was able to identify and correct completely separate issue than the one discovered by the FBI probe within 24 hours, it seems unlikely that it would have eluded them for the previous 2 years if they were doing their job and looking.

It’s a poor look for a program currently under the microscope for failing to monitor their student athletes.

To think that for the past

To think that for the past two years, the MSU compliance office failed to identify that Bridges had received illegal benefits, however, with help of the FBI identified and resolved this issue within 24 hours.

It’s really difficult to

It’s really difficult to adequately evaluate the passing game this season given the fact that we have had to play 3 different QBs and had to replace essentially all of the receiving corps from last year (Darboh, Chesson, Butt, Asiasi). Pep and Drevno will almost certainly get another year to work the passing game out, and I️ think that maturing a lot of potential into talent will see or passing attack take on a very different look next year.

Grant Newsome

Hopefully Grant Newsome is able to make a full recovery from his knee injury last season and return as a contributor to ease the loss of Cole at LT.

Rudock looked pretty solid

There are enough athletes on this roster that they have to be able to find better than Crawford on KO return.

That picture must have been from the 2011 season when Brady carried the entire 31st ranked Patriots defense on his back.

Jabrill Peppers?

Jabrill Peppers?

This was discussed on the

This was discussed on the wtka roundtable a week ago. Sam was hearing that they were looking at Nate Johnson for punt returns but also mentioned that Oliver Martin could get a look. There were a bunch of guys in the mix for kick returns including DPJ, Ambry Thomas, Nate Johnson, Chris Evans, etc.

Is this presumed to be the

Is this presumed to be the replacement for Jim Minnick? (Guy who left UM for the armed services)

No. It was always the plan

No. It was always the plan that Dakich would RS a year at UM to retain eligibility to grad transfer to another program for playing time in his 5th year. Everyone assumed this would mean stepping down a competition level or two. I don't think anyone thought the OSU roster would have fallen so far as to look like an appealing playing time opportunity.

Mike hart was slow?

Difference being that one

Difference being that one coach made a 3 score game into a 2 score game while the other made a 4 score game into a 4 score game.

Precisely. The Title IX

Precisely. The Title IX investigation by the university is independent of any criminal investigation and is a completely different ballgame when it comes to burden of proof.

Furthermore, from my understanding, this incident had elements similar to, although with greater severity than, what LTT was removed from the Michigan football team for.

They have out recruited us

They have out recruited us for the past decade. And we had them up against the ropes in c-bus 5 days ago in Harbaugh's second year with an Al Borges QB. I'm not overly concerned.

Good call with less than a

Good call with less than a minute. Bad call with 4:40 on the clock. With that amount of time, you are giving OSU basically two chances to score for the win with them pushing the tempo, and you also allow them to make their play calling more aggressive in going for 4th downs. With a tie game, you can kick it deep, let your defense ball out as they had been all game, and get the ball back with better field position and more time/time outs without the pressure to need to score prior to OT. If OSU is gonna score in regulation, they are gonna win the game. By going for 2 that early, you are just giving them more opportunities.
