Yeah there are those long…

Yeah there are those long gaps where there’s stuff going on on the ice but the play-by-play is just missing.  But that’s why synching between their broadcast and the TV isn’t bad.

I’m listening to the…

I’m listening to the Michigan radio play by play and it’s infinitely better than the TV.  Al even just channeled Ernie Harwell by saying “Michigan needs some instant goals.”

Make ‘em pay.

And Buckeyes.

I have a master’s from there…

I have a master’s from there, and despite their regrettable contribution to the sign stupidity, as well as the lack of medical facilities for our football players, I know it’s a great place, with a lot of great people.

Especially when the Bacardi girls dance topless on the bar at Harry’s.  (True story).

So yes.  I will be pulling hard for my 2nd alma mater.  Purdue deserves a championship as much as anyone, and If we win, and if we (Michigan) pull it off in the NCAA hockey championship, it’ll be a trifecta for me.

Stay aggressive.  That’s working.

Agree with Antietam.  It has…

Agree with Antietam.  It has a very somber, humbling, almost haunting feel to it, especially at “Bloody Lane,” or the sunken road.

I went back to look up the numbers and 23,000 men from both sides were wounded, killed, or listed as MIA in that battle and they didn’t feel very far away when I saw it.

“University of Ohio State”…

“University of Ohio State” are words that will live in hilarity.

I've used wire brushes since…

I've used wire brushes since the 80s and have never had a problem with them but recently read in a BBQ forum that nylon brushes are safer--with the metal ones the bristles can supposedly come loose and then become part of dinner, and then become embedded somewhere in the guests.

Not sure if this is a real thing or just the latest scare tactic to get us to switch, but I have.

BtW, whatever happened to MGOBBQ?  That was a great feature.

We all have choices and mine…

We all have choices and mine now is not wasting the next 3:57 of my life watching the rest of this.  What a disappointment this team is.

I'll echo a few things here…

I'll echo a few things here.  I learned the hard way how to grill over charcoal over many years.

Indirect cooking is my strong preference unless grilling fish steaks (salmon, sword, tuna) which should be direct and 9-10 minutes per inch of steak for medium rare (turn once).  For not-fish, if you have a Weber kettle, separate the charcoal into two piles on opposite sites and grill indirectly down the middle.  If you're grilling beef, pork, or chicken, you can move them over the charcoal to finish them.

Invest in a meat thermometer.  It can be your best friend.

Someone also said don't use lighter fluid and I'd add also those easy-light briquettes.  I agree--it makes your food taste like napalm.  I use an electric starter.

If you're using BBQ sauce, don't apply it until the end.  A bottle of that stuff has enough BTUs to launch the space shuttle and if you apply it too early you're calling Domino's.

Last night I thought we have…

Last night I thought we have a ways to go to beat teams like MN.  Tonight I think we could beat any team on any given night.  Reality is probably halfway in-between, but it’s looking better.  Go Blue.

Love how this team just wants to go on offense.  End of the period they were still pushing.  Defense wins championships but the best defense is a good offense.

This is so sad.  Too young,…

This is so sad.  Too young, far too young.

There’s been a lot of commentary here about the indignity of the prep and of the procedure and all that.  I’ve had two and I agree with those who observe that it is not that bad and certainly preferable to the alternative.

I had cancer surgery (not colon cancer) 11 months and 1 week ago and so I will go in for my 1-year blood work in about 3 weeks.  Although my case was more aggressive than anticipated, so far I am cancer free and I am exceptionally fortunate because we caught it super early.  My doc, who is a great guy, hadn’t planned on running the test but I insisted because family history.

You are CEO of your own life, so advocate for yourself when it comes to stuff like this.  Schedule the damn colonoscopy and drink the damn prep like you’re celebrating the wins against PSU, tOSU, Alabama and Washington with the best hooch ever.  Do it for yourself and for your loved ones.
