Heading over to Grand Haven, MI, with some friends and family for a weekend of beer drinking and (hopefully) boating. After two very long weeks the long weekend is more than welcome! Wish it would get a bit warmer so we could boat and go to the beach, but I will take what I can get! |

Hate to say it, but I am with your kids on this one. Which is why I have deemed myself at least 5 years away from being ready for parenthood. http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/264/Barbecue_Raccoon9749.shtml |

A 10.2 in the 100 if true is pretty damn fast too, and a bit more relevant to the football field. |

That is awesome. A 200m dash is far from applicable to football, but it speaks to his overall athleticism. Go Blue already Jabrill! |

Cardinals hoping Peterson can take Mathieu under his wing and keep him out of trouble. Not a bad place for him to fall. That could be a dangerous secondary if Mathieu comes through! |

From NFL.com: "Warford translated his power as a drive-blocker, unexpected foot quickness and downfield hustle into a fantastic, decorated college career - and should win his share of battles against NFL linemen when able to get his thick body moving quickly off the snap. That size, strength, and those surprising nimble feet should help him nab a draft slot in the top half of the draft and step into a starting lineup at the next level immediately." I'll take it! |

Whats a Larry Warford? His 4 highlights looked good though! I don't know anything about the guy but I like the OL pick. |
| 4 weeks 2 hours ago | Well, sure who wouldn't |
Well, sure who wouldn't prefer the elite player? But in the 3rd round no one is a sure fire elite player.. We got shafted a bit that all three of the top tackles were gone by pick 5... That wouldn't have happened 9 out of 10 years. There a still a few tackles that would be as good of a pick as any other at this point in the draft. |

There are still some solid tackles on the board. |

I don't hate the pick. The guy has a huge upside at a position of need. The OT from FSU is very similar to Ansah in that he has only played football for a few years and is 23 years old, so I wasn't enthralled with him either. I bet they pick up an OT in the third. |

| 4 weeks 10 hours ago | Um... yeah I did say that, |
Um... yeah I did say that, because illegal does not always = morally wrong. It would be nice if the world was that black and white, but to me it is not. Obviously it is not in one's best interest to go around breaking every law they don't agree with, but there are certainly tiers of wrong-doing, some of which I do not think warant judging someone's character. Do I question Mathieu's judgement and maturity? Sure. But I do not know enough about the guy to question his morals, like I do for say, Brandon Marshall. Having questions about someones decision making and maturity are enough to warrant passing over in the draft though, and I would understand if the Lions didn't pick him up, especially with their history f off the field issues. However, I think he is worth taking a flier on, certainly as much as Ansah was with the 5th pick I didn't really intend to start a big discussion about Mathieu's character though, so I am wshing my hands of this discussion. |
| 4 weeks 10 hours ago | I agree that he has had a |
I agree that he has had a very tough life, but a lot of people use marijuana without that being the case. I also agree that he is a risky pick, but his upside is very high, certainly as high as Ansah's I would say. The guy got caught doing things he wasn't supposed to be doing and got in trouble for it because those things happen to be illegal. With that said, he didn't get in a fight, he didn't steal anything, he didn't hit his girlfriend, he did nothing that makes me question his morals. He made some bad, immature decisions like most 20 year olds do, but I don't think his actions are enough to not pick him up in the second round. The guy would have been a top 10 draft pick more than likely had these issues never happened. For every Charles Rogers there are likely a dozen NFL players who smoke weed occasionally, are "smart" about it, and do not get in trouble. |
| 4 weeks 11 hours ago | Who do people want their |
Who do people want their respective teams to draft in the 2nd round? I would actually be pretty happy if the Lions took Mathieu. I am not too worried about his "marijuana addiction" and think he could be a big time player. I see some people projecting the OT from FSU too, which fills a need but would be another big risk seeing as he has only played football for a couple of years and is again 23 years old.. |
| 4 weeks 11 hours ago | I was one of the people |
I was one of the people looking for a trade down, but I understand that the interest probably wasn't there. I do not like the pick but I can't really think of another player I would have liked a whole lot more at 5. Heres to hoping for a strong day 2. |

Jones at 19 is the pick of the draft so far. He will do well in Pittsburgh if he can stay healthy. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | I am not furious with the |
I am not furious with the pick assuming no option to trade down was there. Just completely unenthused. The biggest thing to me was that I think Werner is just as good of a pick at DE as Ansah or Jordan and could be had at the end of the first or beginning of the second. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | Yeah, I know he does and I |
Yeah, I know he does and I wouldn't have loved that pick either. A guard at 5 would have been a reach but I think both of the guards are more safe picks than Ansah and will both be solid NFL players at the least. If no opportunity to trade down was there then the Lions really were kind of stuck in a bad position. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | It may not have been possible |
It may not have been possible to trade, in which case there really wasn't a player I would have loved there, but I still do not think Ansah is the pick. The guy did nothing in college; I really think college production is the most underrated measure in evaluating players... |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | I would have liked them to |
I would have liked them to trade down if the opportunity was there, but who knows if it was or wasn't. I would have been more happy with Cooper, or even Milliner though. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | I said it in the thread |
I said it in the thread yesterday (or was it two days ago?), but I really hope the Lions trade down. Move back to the mid to late 20s, and get a 2nd and 4th or 5th rounder and I would be a happy camper. I wouldn't be entirely upset if we took Cooper though, which feels weird to say seeing as he is a guard, but he seems like a surefire solid player. not to metnion he could potentially player center too. I like that there isn't a consensus number 1 or even top 5 this year, really adds to the intrigue IMO.

| 4 weeks 2 days ago | In regards to the Lions, I |
In regards to the Lions, I really do not like drafting Jordon or Ansah that high and I am worried about Miliner's injury history. If Fisher doesn't fall to 5 (which is looking increasingly unlikely) I would be really happy to see us trade back to somewhere in the mid to late 20s and take Werner from FSU and get an additional 2nd rd pick plus a 3rd-5th rounder (I am not sure what the value of the 5th pick would be exactly, but I imagine swapping 1's, and getting a 2nd and 4th would be reasonable). As someone who has followed the NFL draft for awhile, but is admittedly not an expert, this class seems to be lacking top notch talent. I think this is the ideal draft to accumulate mid-round picks and get a lot of solid, value-pick type of guys versus trying to snag that one guy you really want. |
