OSU really choked on that…

OSU really choked on that inferior seed...

In an earlier post, I talked…

In an earlier post, I talked about this being the type of game Michigan loses.  This team is slowly removing me from the BPONE.  They are breaking the spell.  Removing the curse.  Hope springs eternal.  Go Blue.

This is just one of those…

This is just one of those games...  I hate to say this, but I feel exactly like I did before the football game this year.  I expect horrible calls to go against us.  BPONE in full effect.  You could make a living betting on Sparty in games like this.  Sucks, but true.  Hope I'm wrong.

I can see this argument... …

I can see this argument...  People have to actually spend time on campus, etc.  However, Notre Dame seems to be doing OK even with the integrity handcuffs?  Why can't we?  We probably not at the same "blue blood" level, but are we close?

As a side note...  The Rich…

As a side note...  The Rich Rod years were horrible and the defense looked god awful.  He was obviously trying to fit a round peg in a square hole in the hopes that he could recruit the right players for the system.  Be patient with the spread, take your medicine, eventually the results will come.  The team improved slightly each year (defense still sucked).  Get a good D coordinator and it might have worked out?

I could at least look at the offense under RR and say "I see what he is trying to do."  I can't do that with this team.  It makes no sense.

I've actually read through…

I've actually read through almost all of these comments...  I can see both sides of the argument.  His record has been "ok" for the most part vs. he hasn't won any big games.  This year is a cluster fuck vs no excuses.  Lets keep him around and pray because who else is available vs there has to be somebody better...

Here is the thing, I don't really need to look at historical data right now.  When you watch this team play, does "good coaching" jump out at you?  I think that Brian was on to something when he said he missed "organized" Harbaugh.

I'm not sure what happened, but something is so horribly wrong that it can't be ignored.  I could get great annual reviews at work for 5 years, but if I start showing up naked, its time to go...  When I watch this team play, I'm literally wondering if the coaching staff has, as a whole, developed a serious drug problem.

It's just depressing any way you look at it.  There is no easy solution.

Not crushing a pretty good…

Not crushing a pretty good BGSU team, but the team looks prepared.  Everyone is on the same page.  Impressive considering all the new guys.

Does anyone know the…

Does anyone know the percentage of MSU covering on this game?  I gotta think it is, unfortunately, very high.  Could make a living betting them to cover I would suspect.

Agreed.  See my post above. …

Agreed.  See my post above.  Trying to figure out how to put money on my fanduel account for a game next Saturday...  Can't get in on future games?  This line will change...  A lot is on Milton, but if he is decent this is a good bet imo.

I'm thinking this line is…

I'm thinking this line is going to change as people bet Michigan...  I think we have more talent and talent should prevail in a strange season like this?  So much is on Milton...  Gotta be tough to bear that much pressure.  Our o-line should be decent, even having to replace everyone.  WR is loaded...  RB is loaded.  D-Line should be good.  If Milton can be decent, I think we surprise a lot of doubters.

I liked it too.  There was a…

I liked it too.  There was a cool area near case western...  Had a sports bar that was an old theater with the movie screen to watch football...

I don't recall the name of the bar or the area, anyone know what I'm talking about?

Numbers are ramping up again…

Numbers are ramping up again in my hospital.  It's really going to be interesting to see how this pans out.  False negatives, etc...  I'm not sure any of it is going to matter.  Roller coaster is climbing up the hill again.

Used to live in Cleveland. …

Used to live in Cleveland.  They had a different place to go for your drivers license and your plates.  Went to first place without my checkbook and they only took checks.  The other place only took credit cards.  Pure Ohio.

Agree to a point.  I work in…

Agree to a point.  I paraphrased...  However, that was the gist of the message as I recall.  I found it appalling at the time and have found the lack of accountability by those who put the message out there equally disturbing.

I work in the medical field.  If someone comes in sick, you are trained to put a mask on them to protect others.  That has been protocol for a long time.

To say "there isn't enough evidence that masks worn by the general public are beneficial, yet" was intellectually dishonest.  Turns out these things designed to stop the spread of germs?  Yeah, they stop the spread of germs after all...  Who knew....  Glad we figured that out...

Some people don't wash their hands correctly, that doesn't mean we tell people not to bother...

They said what they said to stop a run on masks and to reduce panic.  It might have been the right thing to do. Telling a lie for the right reasons has repercussions, however.

I respectfully disagree is all.  A good article on the topic if anyone is interested.  I have no clue how to embed it...

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/17/opinion/coronavirus-face-masks.html

Remember being told by the…

Remember being told by the medical community that masks don't work, people won't wear them correctly, just wash your hands?  I do.  I agree with you for the most part, but the medical field bears some of the blame for the public's mistrust of them.

I guess I'm one of those…

I guess I'm one of those people.  Does anyone actually know how dangerous this disease is to people in the 18 - 25 bracket?  That would mean a lot to me.  If the odds are .01% my kid has a bad outcome (death, heart disease, joint issues, etc.), I'm letting him go.  If it is 4% he is going to have heart disease after contracting it, then it's a no.  If we just don't have a clue, I guess I'll just go with the prevailing advice of those in charge.

The political polarization surrounding this issue is amazing to me.  Probability of long term negative effects should be important when deciding whether to close things down to avoid the improbable negative effects.  Right?  Am I just a right wing nazi wacko to think that?  Am I a bad liberal if I believe that?  This is all crazy as hell.

If we just don't know, then I guess caution is the better part of valor.

I'm afraid to jump into this…

I'm afraid to jump into this hornet's nest.  Here goes.  Assuming eventually we will be able to quantify the risks of organ failure, death, long term issues etc.  What numbers would be acceptable risk in your mind?  The politics surrounding this come out on both sides of the fence from where I'm standing.

Great article on why/how the…

Great article on why/how the early mask wearing advice backfired:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/17/opinion/coronavirus-face-masks.html

We were first told that…

We were first told that masks didn't help much.  Just wash your hands...

I'm sure this was done to stop a run on masks and to reserve them for medical workers.  It may have been the right thing to do under the circumstances, but it weakened trust.  The truth is always the best policy.

As a result, we are now actually debating whether devices specifically designed to stop the spread of germs actually stop the spread of germs.  When a patient shows up to the hospital ill, the first step is to put a mask on them.  Not to protect them from a virus, but to protect others.  This is all really simple.

When you breathe through a face covering, it helps to trap droplets from leaving your nose/mouth and landing on other surfaces.

The politicization of this is disturbing to say the least.  I hope that a lesson has been learned.  Don't lie to people and then expect them to believe you the next time you speak.

I'm torn...  Louisville's…

I'm torn...  Louisville's approach to the ridiculousness of the NCAA is somewhat entertaining.  I'd just like them to come right out and be honest.  "Dear NCAA.  Your rules are a sham.  The top programs all cheat.  We refuse to play your little games.  We will continue to ignore your rules until you decide to enforce them effectively."

I agree.  However, it seems…

I agree.  However, it seems to me there is a point - I'm not sure where/when that point is - to relax measures.  To take a risk.  Maybe we are not to that point yet.  All I can tell you is that if I'm dying, or my loved ones are dying, I'd like the option to try these medications.  I can't imagine anyone, in that situation, refusing the drugs because we haven't run them through the FDA gauntlet?

I'm also confused as to how using this particular drug could result in something worse than this pandemic?

I couldn't agree more.  This…

I couldn't agree more.  This is all just kind of silly isn't it?  What purpose does the one and done rule serve?  Is it really helping college basketball in any way?

I can't blame any of these kids for doing what they do.  It's obviously a sham.  Take what you can get from it then leave.  Isaiah Todd actually seems like the most reasonable person in all of this.  You won't let me earn a living in the American free market?  You want me to do something underhanded to make a living?  Fine, I'll find someplace more "free."

I just shaved it again.  I highly recommend trying it.

I'm calling that good news.  Could use some.

Does your wife have any leftover...  Asking for a friend.

It is insane.  A friend of…

It is insane.  A friend of mine is an infectious disease doc and he told me it was a matter of when, not if, a virus like this would hit.  This is true of other docs I've talked to about it.

The fact that the healthcare industry had no stockpiles is insane as well, considering Apple did.  Not many people are mentioning that.  Masks cost money.  Healthcare is a business.  Hopefully a lesson is learned here.

Plenty of blame to be spread around.

I'm still going to work so I…

I'm still going to work so I have some social contact.  Very limited but a bit.  Strangely, I would have no problem with a two week stay by myself.  It would be a nice break.  I'm a bit of an introvert though.  I've also been pretty fed up with corporate slave life for a long time.  I actually feel like the world has met me half way.  It's not bothering me much.  Then again I'm a weirdo.  Surprising to me how difficult this is for people.  The time off of work and isolation part.  Two weeks of isolation is a just a post break up episode for me.

The health system I work for…

The health system I work for has put a protocol in place for ventilators.  I'm pretty sure this is true everywhere.  Que Debbie Downer sound effect.  Good luck tomorrow.

Please everybody heed these…

Please everybody heed these warnings.  I personally know nursing professors that are being called back to active duty.  This isn't about us as individuals.  Please think about the people bravely suiting up in respirators to fight this.  Our healthcare community really needs everyone's help right now.

It sucks horribly, but we will all be making sacrifices for a while for the good of all.  Hopefully the government can keep people fed and housed for the time being.

I'm not trying to raise panic.  The truth is important though.

Man do I hear you...  I…

Man do I hear you...  I spent last week in the hospital doing non-essential computer training only to be sent home on Friday.  Day late and dollar short.  Just so incredibly crazy.  Hard to imagine the though process when people are able to work from home.  It might be worth demanding an answer, but I need a job...

The Michigan experience…

The Michigan experience never really ends man.  Ann Arbor will be there like a warm hug for the rest of your life.  That, said.  Sorry this happened for all of you guys.

Stop telepathically…

Stop telepathically controlling me Putin.

Stop making sense man...  I…

Stop making sense man...  I just invented a motorcycle that explodes if you go past 55 mph.  Only 10 people have died so far out of the 50 I've sold.  20 million have died in cars.  Therefore, my exploding motorcycle is way safer than cars.  It's simple math.

I'll take everyone's useless…

I'll take everyone's useless guns and n95 masks.  I wanna do my part.

You can buy n95 masks, the…

You can buy n95 masks, the ones that will be used by front line healthcare as PPE, at Home Depot.  They are just all sold out.

They have to be used correctly to work.  The company line is normal people won't use them correctly, the healthcare folks really need them, so we will just say "masks don't work" for our 5 second sound bite.  The dumbass non-doctors won't understand the difference between n95 and surgical masks anyway.

I work in HealthCare.  The general attitude is that the idiot masses won't understand nuance, so just tell them what will be most beneficial to the masses.  In this case, I might actually agree with them.  It still causes a lot of mistrust though.

University of Colorado…

University of Colorado Hospital has canceled all non-essential travel for employees.  Training, conferences etc.  Friend works there.

I agree to a point.  We…

I agree to a point.  We either need to just go on and stop pretending we are working to contain it or we need to actually do what is necessary to contain it.

Hopefully the mortality rates will go down as more people are actually tested.  If they don't, this will be much worse than the flu.  Especially if it returns every year.

A 2 month outbreak of Ebola wouldn't compare to the yearly death toll for flu either.

Lmao...  I have no comeback…

Lmao...  I have no comeback to that one.

Am I the only person that…

Am I the only person that finds this ridiculous?  As it gets worse and worse, we keep taking more and more measures to combat it.  Soon, it will be everywhere, the economy will be tanked, a bunch of people will be dead, and FINALLY we will have taken all of the precautions to contain it that we should have taken right away only it will be too late.  This seems like the most dumb ass approach imaginable.  Then again, I'm not Dr. Drew so what do I know.

Either say "fuck it" or take the drastic measures preemptively so that they actually accomplish something.  Sure they will tank the economy, but half-assing it will lead to the same results only it won't accomplish anything, like containment, in the process.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.  The Chinese leaders are probably laughing their ass off at this clown show.

Masks don't work...  BTW, can we order 35 million of them for our healthcare workers?  What a joke all of this is.

I work in IT for health care…

I work in IT for health care.  Spend my time dealing with computer bs in urgent cares, hospitals, etc.  My company, like many health care companies, does not provide sick days.  We have paid time off only.  So, if you get sick, you get to decide to either come in and try to fake like you are ok or stay home and lose your already very limited vacation time.

They aren't planning on making any changes. Think about that...  We are talking about front line health care professionals that will surely be exposed.

My girlfriend got laid out for two and a half weeks.  Severe cough, some fever, exhausted.  Wore a mask to work, but had to go to work anyway to pay rent.  Went to urgent care.  Said they figured it was viral, but didn't test her.  She is 32.  Never gets sick...  No test.

The chances of this not landing on your doorstep are slim to none.  Watching a health care organization fail to provide sick days to its employees while at the same time asking them to give blood and risk their lives should tell you something about our ability to deal with this effectively.   Say what you want about the commies, but they will deal with shit if needed.  Our polarized clown show government?  Our greedy corporations?

We are pretty screwed IMO.  I'm most concerned with mortality rates, which are somewhat hopeful.  .4% for a forty something like me.  Not much we can do.

I'm going to go work in a hospital on Monday in an infected state.  If I get sick, I won't get a vacation this year.  I've had one week off since February 2019.

Makes me angry.

I agree with your point in…

I agree with your point in general, but this cult has gone completely over the top.  I, for one, would not be able to lie to myself to this degree.  Something is very weird over there.  I can't ignore it at this point.  Disturbing.

As a graduate of MSU law …

As a graduate of MSU law (sigh), I feel compelled to comment on this.  I apologize for the length of this reply in advance.  However, to fully appreciate the ridiculousness of Dantonini's response one must examine his attorney's denial of perjury in full.

Full disclosure, I no longer practice law.  However, I remember a few things...  One thing is the smirk rule.  Don't make an argument if you can't do it without smirking.  It will backfire.  Regardless of whether or not perjury charges are pursued, this argument is so ludicrous I honestly can't believe they are making it.  I think it goes a long way in explaining MSU's continuing strategy of denial at all costs.  The fact that they are willing to make this argument suggests to me that the cesspool is as bad as could be imagined.  They are out of options and fully committed to lie, cheat, etc.  This is pure desperation.  What they are hiding could be worse than what we already assume is true...

So, here is the denial of perjury:

""Kienbaum responded Tuesday: "During his deposition, Dantonio was asked general questions about whether Blackwell would drive with him on recruiting visits in Detroit (occasionally, on visits to schools, but Blackwell would wait in the car), whether Blackwell would drive with other assistant coaches on recruiting visits (Dantonio didn’t know, but didn’t think so), and whether Blackwell would “ever go with [him] to visit any recruits at their homes?” (no). ...

In the context of the questioning, Dantonio was answering whether Blackwell drove with him when he went on home visits. Dantonio was not asked about any specific visit. Dantonio does not recall the particular 2015 visit Plaintiff identifies in his submission (Dantonio visited hundreds of recruits during his career). However, travel records reflect that neither Dantonio nor any of the other coaches present drove Blackwell there. While Dantonio does not recall Blackwell being at the location depicted in the pictures, or how Blackwell came to appear in the photograph, he is adamant that he did not drive him there or authorize him to be there.""

To paraphrase:

When Dantonio was asked if Blackwell would ever "go with him to visit any recruits at their homes" he said "no" because he thought they were talking about driving Blackwell there, or whether he authorized him to be there, not whether he was actually in the house with him.  He isn't sure how he materialized out of thin air in the photo, but he is sure he didn't drive him there.  If he was there, he didn't authorize him to be there.  Therefore, he wasn't lying when he said no...  He was simply answering a different, more contextually relevant question than the plain language would suggest.

To say this fails the smirk test is a huge understatement.  Also, Dantonio and his attorneys are basically admitting to the NCAA violation while trying to squirm away from the more serious perjury issue.  Fucking MSU, again, in doing so to save his sorry ass.

Will he go to jail for perjury?  Probably not.  Not material, etc...  Will MSU finally turn on him?  My guess is yes, but who knows?  Valenti is turning on him.  I suspect he has a good reason to do so and this is going to get worse for Danonini before it gets better...

That said, MSU and the cult are full on psycho at this point.  Completely pot-committed and all in on the lies.  A video of Dantonio cheering on a gang rape could surface and they would still deny it and defend their false god.  In my eyes, it has gone from funny to scary.  Everyone is completely delusional.  A sad story about human nature and the lengths people will go to protect their ego's when an institution they have tied their identity to runs amok.

I loved growing cannabis. …

I loved breeding and growing cannabis.  It was absolutely fascinating and rewarding.  Very easy to fall in love with the farming aspect of it.  That part of it may not be as well known outside of where I live.  I could very easily see a great basketball player deciding cultivation or operations was his true calling.  Good luck Mitch!

Speaking of conspiracies... …

Speaking of conspiracies...  It's out there, but who knows.  Is it possible that Harbaugh is/was crazy enough to sabotage the team with Gattis to prove his point that manball is king?  This is all just so bizarre, so baffling, I'm starting to consider the unlikely lmao...  Trying to keep a sense of humor about all of this.

I should be really clear. …

I should be really clear.  Thank god for our service academies and the students that attend them.  I have nothing but respect for those brave/smart enough to attend any of our military schools.  My point was simply that the focus of these institutions is not football.  Thank god for that.  However, that is clear to Americans.  It might not be as clear to others.  It's either going to be an embarrassing loss for Michigan (unlikely, but bad for U of M) or and embarrassing loss for our Military academies (likely, and bad for America).  Just a bad idea any way you slice it imo.

Bad idea in and of itself,…

Bad idea in and of itself, but even stranger in the international setting.  Look North Korea, our service academies are weak and unable to compete with state universities! Of course that is not the real story, but it could be perceived that way internationally?  Just a strange thing to do.  Wouldn't think the military would want to put a likely ass kicking on public international display?
