I was referring to the more to the tone of your post and the expectation of the subsequent comments than your specific wording, although you changed the tone with your edits.
As someone who's life and career were damaged by a claim that was eventually proven false, I've always been outspoken about any post or thread that speculatively discusses the alleged criminal activity of athletes (or anyone, for that matter, if you remember the mods raking some student over the coals for his alleged inappropriate touching on a gif that they posted from a basketball game last year).
EDIT: See Exhibit A below (currently post #13, 2 posts below).

Maybe he raped her. Maybe they had concesual sex that night. Were any of us there?

I'm curious on the math behind Michigan burning 29 redshirts this year... where does that come from?

Oh, you forgot...
You're an asshole for booing.
You're an asshole for judging me for booing.
Even though we are all supporting the same team, this is how far we've devolved. It's becoming hard to stay with this blog, and all of it's assholes.

I think there's no way they decrease season ticket prices, although it will be interesting to see what they do with face value/public ticket prices, and dynamic pricing.
They usually designate 2 or 3 games as "premium games" and charge $20 more per ticket face valuae for those games. I can't imagine any games next year are "premium games."
Similarly, if they let market demand dictate "dynamic" pricing, I don't see any games going above public face value.

I am also going to suggest that real Michigan fans don't judge the voracity of other Michigan fans. WTF?
(see what I did there?)
Sorry to be grouchy, but as a third generation legacy, double-degreed alumnus, 42 year season ticket holder (football plus hockey), and current faculty, having my my fan-ness questioned makes me want to fucking smack someone. Aren't we all on the same side here?

I think you should read my post again, or stop twisting to your benefit. I never said I was going to cancel my seats. Considering it? Yes, but so that I can take advantage of what I suspect will be the more affordable option of buying tickets on the secondary market.
So if you think I'm less of a fan because I still plan on going to all of the home games, just not buying the tickets through the athletic department, then so be it.
And no, not because the team is bad... that's merely a factor. Maybe you shouldn't have stopped reading after I begged the question.

Nice. I was merely pointing out a possible scenario, hoping to generate a thoughtful discussion and hear what other fans think.
But, hey, I can trade personal insults and profanity with the best of them.

So, what you're saying, is the more money I throw at the athletic department, the bigger fan I am?
Makes total sense.
That's pretty insulting to a lot of fans out there. Sure, if I was a millionaire, I wouldn't care how bad the team was, and I would continue to pay whatever asked for tickets, but I'm not. Just a guy with a wife, 2 kids, and an ailing mother who has priorities that may be different than yours.

I'm really trying to care about comparisons to other teams right now, but I can't. This ship is sinking.
Developing our own players? Sure. But I can't remember a football season ever where the players (both individually, and as a team) got progressively worse as the season progressed. So unfortunately, now even Hoke's ability to develop players is under a shadow of doubt...
PS: Your post is too long.

First, this looks legit, although I agree it's hard to believe. Published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
Second, I agree with Profwoot, and would take his points one step further. I suspect the pictures are deceiving. I suspect that visually and radiographically this ligament is indistinguishable from other structures that it is physically attached to... joint capsule, LCL, ITB, etc. Yet, when you "dissect out" a structure, you are typically clearing all of those structures away... leaving us with a picture that gives the impression of "why the hell didn't we see that before?"
Surgically, we are talking about the lateral aspect of the knee, which is the least often injured, and, subsequently, least operated on portion of the knee (how many times have you heard of an LCL tear? Exactly.). Plus, it sounds as though this structure is quite deep... (layer III) underlying the ITB insertion, and I can't think of any reason anyone would be cutting the ITB to get underneath it... subsequently, this area would go unexplored in the vast majority of knee surgeries. I Think a better question is why haven't radiologists noticed this on the millions of knee MRIs that have been done? But I suspect the answer is as above... when not dissected out, it's likely to be radiographically indistinguishable from the surrounding structures.
It does strike me as odd that this has made it as far as the lay press, and yet none of the authors or reporters are addressing the obvious question of why this is billed as a new discovery.
And thank you OP, for letting me post something that has nothing to do with th efootball team.

I won't run wild with what you said, but I will point out that despite the team's lack of preparation for IU (as perceived by you), Michigan still won.

Couldn't agree more on the keep them comfortable comment... especially when they are little. I took my 2 and half year old son to his first game this year against Central. He wanted to leave by the end of the first quarter because he got so hot that sun screen dripped into his eyes from sweating. Poor guy.
BUT, he still asks if he can go to the stadium with me every week after that and "watch the football players on the green stripe."
PS: How did you know my tickets are in row 87?

I have to say the "snowflake rule," particularly when applied to a game like Akron, only serves to stifle discussion, not to mention page clicks.
I'd love to discuss and read what people have to say about the game, but when there is SO much to discuss, I have no patience to wade through 100s of comments mixed together in one thread.
I can't help but wonder if it would make for a better blog all around if there could be multiple snowflakes... providing focused, digestible chunks of discussion abou tthe game. For example:
