Some of these statements are so ludicrously illogical.

This is basically what happened:

Jim Harbaugh decided to go teach at a high school.  During his first year he decides he's going to start tutoring middle school students after school.  This gets a lot of positive attention; parents and students like it because of the greater learning opportunities.   The other teachers at the school (1) dont want to work as hard as Harbaugh, (2) dont like that Harbaugh is getting positive attention, and (3) dont like that some students might opt into taking Harbaugh's class in the future because of the positive Harbaugh tutoring sessions.  In response, the teachers lobby the school to shutdown all after school tutoring for middle school students.  The school bans the practice. Students suffer. The end.

50/50

It's obviously 50/50.  Either we make it or we don't.

Joke

I guess I just dont find jokes about something bad happening to a Michigan Football player funny.

Fair enough

Fair enough. I thought people were serious.

Enough

Can we stop with all this "dont tell the NFL" crap?  This is a kid who could potentially make millions. We shouldnt be hoping that the NFL misevaluates him so that he has to play another year of college.  That's like a mother/father who are afraid of being alone saying "I hope that a girl doesnt realize how great our son is, because then he'll marry her and end up moving out of the house."  Pure selfishness.

If you're comparing Devin to

If you're comparing Devin to McGary and Shane to Donnal...

If you're comparing Devin to

If you're comparing Devin to McGary and Shane to Donnal...

Difference

McGary was a lottery pick last year, obviously no one is coming in and replacing him.  It's more like saying someone would come in and replace Jordan Morgan (which is exactly what happened).

Gardner

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this because it goes against something that Brian said, but...

I don't think it's crazy at all that Morris should start next year.  There's no denying that Devin is talented, but he STILL makes decisions (as a senior) that are unthinkable. Do we really believe at this point that he'll suddenly become a great quarterback? Moreover, why is it hard to imagine Shane improving a lot this offseason and actually beating out Devin for the job? It's not like Devin has been super successful or anything.  Finally, if Morris beats out Devin at least we can put Devin at wideout and still get some value out of him.  Morris would just sit on the bench.

That's like, your opinion

That's like, your opinion man.

Look at me, I just used a quote from another 90's movie.

Yost

Office Space?  Seriously?

Magnus

Magnus,

I'm curious.  When you're evaluating these prospects how many hours of game footage are you watching?  Where do you acquire this footage?

Magnus

Magnus,

I'm curious.  When you're putting out your evaluations, how many hours of film are you watching?  Where do you get full game footage of all of these prospects?

Well done

Excellent post Brian

This

This is easily one of the dumber threads I've read on MGoBlog, and that's saying something.

Who cares what some jerk at 247 thinks of this guy.  If you dont like him, don't go on his blog.

Magnus

(No subject)

I went to Rick's last year.

I went to Rick's last year.  It was really busy and fun.

Norfleet

When Norfleet becomes an all Big Ten safety I'm gonna post the link to this in all of Brian's stuff.

And then I'll probably get banned.

I'm saying Jones doesn't view

I'm saying Jones doesn't view CMU as his best possible option. Conley obviously doesn't either.

It depends on how "committed"

It depends on how "committed" the committed prospect is.  Maybe, but it seems he has done alright for himself with Oregon (if he visits) and Ohio State.

He couldn't take visits

He couldn't take visits earlier this year because no one else was offering him.

And I agree with you. In all

And I agree with you. In all likelihood Jones and Conley are approaching their recruitment in the exact same way.

I don't think you understand

I don't think you understand me- I'm not criticizing Conley.  I said it was a smart strategy and not surprising.  If I was a recruit I'd probably do the same thing.

Such as...

Such as...

Correct me if I'm wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it clear what Conley is doing/ has done for his recruitment?   U-M was his first big offer- he committed to save a spot (in case he ultimately decided to go to Michigan) and ensure a full college scholarship in case of injury during his senior season.  Now that his senior season is ending and other big name schools are after him, he is deciding to look around and get the official visit treatment  It's a pretty decent strategy and not surprising.

Strategy

I'm liking the strategy here.

Don't answer the recruit's calls and make him think you got other prospects you're checking out.

I use it on the ladies all the time and it never fails.

Credit

This is probably the best Brian post I've ever read.

It depends what you want

Like others have said- if you want the really best locations and nicest homes on campus you've gotta start your search in September or October.  But if you want to live a little farther away (8-10 minute walk) you can search now or even in the summer.  The prices will be a lot cheaper (houses desperately trying to get filled).  I guarantee you there will be places available next July, with Landmark and Zaragon West being built this year.  My roommates and I found our last house in July and looked at a few others before deciding on it.  I found the house I'm living in now in early September!

Ace

Who is that really nerdy looking guy in Ace's picture?  Kind of looks like a young Jeff Goldblum.

Write up

How can you not include Brennan's or Commander's Palace in your write up?

Thanking

Thanking RR for this season is like thanking the guy who buys the groceries at a four star restaurant

Question

Does anyone have experience driving down on a football Saturday to Ann Arbor from Macomb/Oakland County? I'm driving to the game for the first time and wondering what kind of traffic backups I'm going to be looking at.  If I leave at 8 am what time can I expect to get to AA?  Should I leave earlier to be safe?  Will be taking the standard 275 to 14 route.

It's too bad

Pharoah was a pretty cool name...

Yo

I know Shallal Taylor and Widlak are reading this

Question?

Did the offense prove it could consistently perfom against a decent-to-good defense last year?

Really?

Did you watch Gardner these last few weeks?

Stupid

Sounds pretty stupid to me.

Brian

"About ten months ago, Michigan was 1-6 in the Big Ten and people were emailing me nasty things about John Beilein's job prospects."

And you were writing nasty things about John Beilein's job prospects.
