Honestly, I'd rather back into the Rose Bowl than the CFB. The former feels like a much more wrothwhile thing to win than a semi-final spot that no one will think is well-earned.
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. Idiosyncratic and hugely influential masterpiece that bridges the formal gaps between the silent and sound eras. Whole thing is on YouTube, too!
Supposedly, Jack Harbaugh first picked that call and response up from a friend in Bowling Green, when he cocached there. Said friend is the grandfather of my friend, hence me knowing that. Not really sure that it's 100% true, but I love the connection anyway.
Is there any hope of the Big Ten swapping OSU/MSU back to the off/on scheduling? I fucking haaaaate that we play both at home or on the road in the same season now.
Dunno if Brian's UFR will verify this, but it felt like OSU schemed to put Bolden on the spot. That went about as we might have expected. Disappointed that Durkin didn't have more wrinkles here. First time all year that it felt like we were just plain outschemed.
Posts like this/games, where you can feel that joyful and encompassing feeling of victory and comraderie make me want to cry. It's like being a 10-year-old watching Woodson run back that punt against Ohio State all over again. KEEP THESE FEELS COMING!
None of this is making me feel anything but pure dread about my brother-in-law's wedding, which is supposed to be Saturday evening on a beach in Delaware. Hard to do when the beach is not dry land!
Is it possible that Drevo and Harbaugh are just sticking with an odd nomenclature, where Henry's 3-tech is called a DE and Wormley's SDE is called a DT? Seems sort of ...stupid, but it's the best guess I've got.
I have some friends who are fans of both the 49ers and OSU and are running through a while ream of rationalizations and criticisims of Harbaugh. Their crow tastes delicious already.
I like Hoke, but with the lack of built-in assets at Oregon State and his, er, lack of head coaching skills that program would be the bottom of the barrel out west.
Well, that says everything. OSU lost two Heisman-level QBs and still won this game by 14. We lose the RB who was 3rd-string in the opener and our offense stalls.
This year will prove to be an aberration for Nuss. The issues with QB's at Michigan under Hoke have to be traceable to the head man and whatever stictures he's putting in place.
Do we think there's any chance Funchess returns next year? The way the year has played out has had to have hurt his draft stock and a new coaching staff could actually make him into the star playmakers he could be.
I've never taken a gender studies class. I'm just not a dickhead. :D
Also, the reasons those terms are not as upsetting or dehumanizing is because we live in a patriarchal society which misogyny is a systemic and universal part of the culture. So calling a man an asshole or a dickhead is not intrinsically an act of agression or opression. Odds are probably even that you arew calling a spade a spade. Even if it is an act of discrimination, it's not on the same level as the OP's comment. That's because slut-shaming a woman, even a hypthetical one, is a way to assert masculine control over her body and behavior.
I swear to God that I will spell it correctly the first time someday. First mosgyny, then lieutenient, and probably after that I will be able to take over the world.
You could have chosen any metaphor in the world to make your point. You chose one that shows a disdain for women. Misogyny is most frequently not outright hatred or spousal abuse, just like racism is most frequently not slurs or police brutality. It's a systemic state of mind that tells you the best way to make your point is to denigrate a hypothetical woman because women like that deserve to be put down.
Go ahead and neg bomb me for it, but I'm not the gross one here.
It's a damn tragedy that the AD closed up tight when Brandon arrived, because an insider account of the Hoke era would be an amazing companion piece to Three and Out. Completely different kind of disaster caused by completely different failures at different levels.
What I most want to know is just "How did it come to this?" Like, really, why did no one ever step in and say "This is not going to work?"
I honestly think that 2008 squad might be favorites over this one. It would be a turnover-laden disaster zone, but Brandon Graham would have killed Gardner and that Threetsheridammit offense could stumble into points now and then.
I think he's said before that he always dreamed of coaching on of Michigan, Ohio State, or Notre Dame. Grew up in love with the big Midwestern football programs. He thought about being Chip Kelly's OC at Oregon after Tampa Bay fired him, too. That MNF gig is too good/easy to leave, though.
Objective analysis in anything other than a scientific or statistical sense in a canard. No person's opinions or onsights are free of their own biases, blind-spoots, "agendas," and pre-conceptions. So...no. We cannot have more objective analysis this side of Bill Connolly's advanced stats.
The 100K streak and the Bo-era mottos are just window dressing on a broken-down and empty building at this point. Holding onto them is not worth more than declaring the structure condemned, tearing down, and starting over.
Hey, I wrote an article about exactly this last Wednesday. What a coincidence! If I had waited 3 days it would have been filled with 10,000% more bile.
If I was a recuit, even a committed one, this whole fiasco would have me running far away. A wholly irrational love for the university would be the only thing that could overcome it.

Cool. Let's fucking whip them for the foreseeable future.

Well, this adds an interesting wrinkle to my brother-in-law's wedding on a beach in Delaware on Saturday night.
Am I to interpret the Ohio state fear level as saying they are as scary as the band Yes? If so, I agree.
Utah 20
Michigan 26
Utah 20

I still cannot quite believe that he's coming home. What a world.

Wat.

I am hoping that next year's team is radically different in coaching and attitude that the comparison is not even worth it.
...why? What's the point in tallying the failures of a coaching staff that has less than a week left.
This year will prove to be an aberration for Nuss. The issues with QB's at Michigan under Hoke have to be traceable to the head man and whatever stictures he's putting in place.
Absolutely the right decision.
Because Michigan has standards, unlike Florida State? It's also a pretty easy standard to meet: don't commit (or be arrested for) criminal acts.
He should be suspended until the DA decides wether or not to file charges. If he is charged then his Michigan career is and should be over.

Making your point without a side dish of mysoginy would be great. No need for that here or anywhere.
I was sitting two rows up from the end zone, so I kept staring at those mishapen blobs in this set and wondering if that was me.

I'm riding the train up there from my home in Chicago. Will be my first in-person Michigan game in over a decade!

I would like to invest in Ann Arbor Torch and Pitchfork as soon as humanly possible.
The trouble is that no one else is planning or playing in the 90's.

There are people who root for the Rams?
I'm not sure I would trust anything ESPN said last night. Those announcers were extremely far up Brady and Brandon's asses.

God. I don't think I can honestly predict another win for us this season.
I thought we wanted to fix the offense?

How is Tajh Boyd not an NFL backup? Dude lit it up in college.
