The only real issue with Maine is the lack of economy (and homelessness in Portland).
Maine has a high tax rate while having little industry to support it. Making money is where LA comes out ahead. That is my dilemma.
How do you like Portland, OR? Does it really rain THAT much?
|3 days 17 hours ago||That's cool.||
I'm in southern coastal Maine right now and am deciding on moving to Portland, ME or Los Angeles, CA.
I don't know any other Michigan fans in my area.
|3 days 17 hours ago||Maineandblue,||
Do you live in Maine currently? If so, where?

Rutgers and Maryland joining the B1G.
In my opinion, everything B1G related should be in Chicago.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||I live less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean...||
and am embarrassed to have Rutgers in our conference.
I still can't believe that happened.
|24 weeks 5 days ago||I would MUCH rather see the game played by their avatars.||
No offense MGrowOld.

He'll have another account up that same day and rack up 500 points his first week. I've noticed lots of new accounts made in the last few weeks with more points accumulated in two weeks than I have in however long I've been a "valued" member. Perhaps I should start commenting on everything that's posted, regardless of whether or not I have anything to say.
|28 weeks 5 days ago||You might want to sit this one out, Champ.||
But I'll give you an "A" for effort and and upvote you.
|28 weeks 6 days ago||Great Hire!||
Yes! After such a rotten 2013 season, I did not expect to be this excited about Michigan football for a while. I was afraid we'd just be complacent with the coaching staff and bask in our mediocrity. What a RELIEF!!!
Now if we can only get a homerun hire for our new Oline coach!
|28 weeks 6 days ago||If you like RPG's than you will love Skyrim.||
I've spent thousands of hours playing Morrowind as it would crash often and eventually REALLY crashed leaving all my saved files not accessible. I then played Oblivion for around another thousand hours. The game play and overall experience in Oblivion was much better than Morrowind.
I've probably put in close to 300 hours into Skyrim. At this point, my character is pretty juiced and is at level 58. However, I'm not really playing to "beat" the game or even advance the story at all. I know what I have to do and could easily do it, but instead just roam the countryside looking at the beautiful scenery and enjoying the peaceful music. I play the game to escape from my own life for a few hours here and there. I really enjoy it. I will finish the main quest soon enough but there is no hurry. The beauty of this series is that you can enjoy your journey and not just the accomplishment of "winning". There are so many things you can do to improve your character and thousands of random tasks and quests to go on. It will take more than a few days to really get into it. I wasn't a fan of Morrowind at first but was too bored at the time not to play it. As time went on, it became one of my favorite games of all time.
For anyone complaining about Skyrim, know that this series is the industry standard and won Game of the Year. While some people may like other games more, most people interested in this genre do not. Give it time and realize that you haven't even scratched the surface yet.
I was at about level 20 and I thought I had a really good handle of the game. I went home for Thanksgiving and found that my brother was on level 72 and I really didn't know what I was doing. There is a lot in the details.
|28 weeks 6 days ago||Exactly.||
While I'm not condoning the use of ecstasy, I'm willing to bet that there has been considerably more tragedy caused by alcohol (by a lot) than by ecstacy, yet according to Center Ice, the possesion of ecstacy is a "5th degree felony" and alcohol is completely legal. Hence my calling it "arbitrary control".
Cripes, 5th degree felony? How many degrees of felonies are there?
|29 weeks 10 hours ago||To be honest,...||
How can you be a Michigan fan and concede the season before it has begun?
To be honest, it's been pretty easy to do so since 2009.
|29 weeks 14 hours ago||No, I'm not. I didn't even break a sweat.||
My point is illustrated by your varying levels of offense. I don't condone the use of hard drugs and I've never used ecstacy, I'm just amused by the arbitrary punishment doled out to people by the "powers that be" often times for the sake of appearances and not fairness.
While I conceed the need for order, it blows my mind the punishment people recieved under the banner of "War On Drugs" for offenses related to marijuana. Can you imagine having a weed growing on your yard and out of curiosity, smoking said weed to see what the fuss was all about? Can you imagaine going to prison for doing that? It's happened in the past.
Taking out of the equation any talk about legalizing drugs or that they are in any way beneficial, I find it ridiculous that athletes (Ricky Williams) are penalized by organizations for the use of a non-performance enhancing drug. Smoking weed has nothing to do with the game, and I don't see how any league should have the authority over that. You could argue that the team itself (or whomever owns the actual players contract) should have the right to punish a player if the owner can prove that the players performance is negatively affected by the substance (and I woudln't disagree with that right), bu that's a seperate discussion entirely.
Ultimately, my point is that we have far too many laws that are put in place solely for the sake of having a law. These laws are often based on feelings and not objective research or evidence. What I'm saying has nothing to do with drinking or taking drugs. It's about authority heads trying to assert control over anything they can, while not spending the time to really evaluate what's actually happening or the fairness and/or rightness of their punishment. Hence the big disparity in punishment. Remember when Denard Robinson had his neck vilently twisted while helplessly under a pile during the MSU game? What do you think deserves more punishment: The malicious intent to physically hurt someone (potentially permanantly) or some kid ignorantly taking a potentially harmful recreational drug while at a party? The B1G originally thought the kid at a party should be suspended for an entire year but the asshole maliciously trying to hurt defensless players didn't deserve any sort of punishment until he actually threw a punch in that same game and then only gave him a one game suspension.
To the MGOSpelling Nazis on the board, I apologize beforehand for any misspelled words and/or improper grammer. Also, you can suck it.
|29 weeks 16 hours ago||Absolutely!||
Using that logic, I think all players under the age of 21 should be suspended for a year if they are caught using alcohol. Maybe even two years. Maybe they should just be kicked out of school. After all, it's an arbitrarily illegal substance for everyone under 21 and each student knows that and should be subjected to an equally arbitrary punishment.
All hail the B1G!!! All hail arbitrary means of control!!!
|29 weeks 1 day ago||Unless you like defense.||
I wonder how MSU would have done against either FSU or Auburn.
|29 weeks 1 day ago||Why is she carrying three footballs?||
I'd offer to carry two of them for her.
|29 weeks 4 days ago||Go B1G!||
|29 weeks 4 days ago||There was plenty of talk regarding||
Ohio being jumped by Baylor and/or a 1 loss Alabama team. To root against one's conference is just dumb. Everyone hoping the B1G loses every game outside of Michigan sounds so ignorant and Sparty-like.
|29 weeks 4 days ago||Whatever you're planning,||
My anus will have NO part in it.

Don't you have some preparations to attend to?
|29 weeks 6 days ago||I wouldn't say "wildly inaccurate".||
While I would certainly concede that the success of another program carries importance in competitive recruiting, I wouldn't necessarily call it the biggest thing. Look at how uncompetitive we've been with Ohio since 2006, and yet we're able to recruit with them. We've been uncompetitive with MSU since RR and have had more success in recruiting than them. Clearly recruiting is less of a factor than some people think it is.
Don't get me wrong, I see what you are saying, but think about how much better Texas A&M is regarded now that they play in a more respected conference. I wish people would talk about the B1G like they talk about the SEC. Just because our team sucks doesn't mean I want our conference to suck. The quickest way to gain more respect is to win in a conference people respect. Otherwise, someday we could be like Ohio and go undefeated in the B1G and still have to worry about being passed by a 1 loss SEC team to go to the MNC. How the mighty have fallen.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||It's obviously good for the Big Ten Conference,||
and ultimately good for the teams in the B1G. Or do you think that a B1G team winning the Rose Bowl is bad for the B1G?
I just think your thinking is very shortsighted. The only thing that will help Michigan's recruiting is Michigan winning. Not their rivals losing.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||It not MSU winning that is doing that.||
It's Michigan's losing that is affecting their recruiting.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||If our top tier teams beat the top tier teams they play,||
and start to do this consistently, if/when our team begins to win our conference, the talking heads won't say that were not deserving of a high ranking because they know that the teams we had to beat on the way to the top are competitive with the best. BCS games are more important than the Copper Bowl.
Also, it sounds like you think that if Stanford had won the Rose Bowl, then MSU didn't beat our ass during the season?
If State beat everyone in the conference but looked really bad in their bowl game, it would make the teams they beat look worse. If they handled their bowl game, the loss they gave teams doesn't look so bad.
It's like everyone excusing our loss to Alabama last year. I'd rather lose to Alabama than Toledo. But it seems that to you, there is no difference in losing to an undefeated national champion and a 5 loss MAC team.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||You received 31 MGoPoints on your first day?||
I'm sure you weren't kicked off the board for being a huge douche and are now using a different avatar.
I just listened to Musburger say and I quote, "This is a huge, huge win for the Big Ten Conference". He's absolutely correct. The headlines earlier were that the B1G sucked because only Nebraska won their game. If the conference wins both BCS games, that will look much better for us next year when it comes to playoffs and rankings. I have written enough about how idiotic to root against your conference and hope the B1G looses any of their bowl games. Just remember this next season when the talking heads say that the top four teams in the country should all be chosen from the SEC.
Also, I just watched Season 3 of Downton Abbey and am appalled at how poorly you managed your estate. Not only were you incompetent, but you were opposed to any changes Matthew suggested to modernize the farms and wouildn't even think about operating for a profit. It seems like Lord Grantham is running the coaching staff at Michigan.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||I also wonder this.||
Obviously, Penn St. could have lost more games, but it seems like any competent head coach worth millions of dollars a year, could come in and have a similar record. He didn't win a MNC and was never competing for conference title. People talk about him like he was Ghandi or something. I don't get it. He had a 10-6 conference record. Brady Hoke has a similar conference record at 15-9 and people are talking about him being fired for his incompetence.
|30 weeks 14 hours ago||Where are the Grammar Police?||
When you actually need them?
|30 weeks 14 hours ago||Like the SEC does?||
If the B1G was a dominant conference and a conference team beat a non conference opponent in a bowl game? I probably would. I don't live in the midwest and am VERY happy to watch the B1G beat other major conference teams.
|30 weeks 14 hours ago||The worse the conference looks,||
The worse each school in that conference looks. With national perception a factor in bowl games placement and rankings, only a moron would root against their own conference.
