Don't really see this one going anywhere, but it would be nice.
|3 days 55 min ago||This is not good as we just||
This is not good as we just got another big player in for Upshur and I think he's a hell of a prospect. McKeon is a great start but given the Tight End depth right now it'd be nice to get a lottery ticket with a higher chance of hitting.

Great news and I like his highlight film. Seems like he's at the beginning of the development curve and he'll have some time once he gets to the program. Think he'll be a player.

If they hadn't completely blown the execution of the idea and have it be associated with two of the worst, most frustrating seasons in Michigan football then I might be a bit sad about this for practical reasons. However, this idea will always be toxic because of the era.

I like this as it's always more fun to get different types of teams in the schedule. Plus as a military academy guy I welcome any good exposure the academy teams get.

PAC 12 presidents won't take BYU. They could have had them a few years ago but went with Utah instead and when comparing the two institutions as far as fan interest and possible TV dollars BYU beats Utah hands down. The religion as Percy is rumored to be the issue.

CSU-Pueblo is a traditionally strong DII team and a good place to start a career as he should get some good visibility there. Good for him.

I know and was kicking it back :). By the way, can't blame you at all, Bergkamps goal against Argentina in '98 was unreal and between him and Henry, two of my favorite strikers ever were on that team.

They have a long and pretty illustrious history and in the EPL they've been good with a chance to break through but just can't buy whoever the hell they want. Makes them a more interesting follow than the Big Five, plus this way I don't feel like a soul-less band wagoner(as I assume any fan of the big five must feel like). I've been following them since the 2006/2007 season, but it's been more fun than following a team led by a Frenchman who keeps mysteriously being struck blind when one of his players does something egregious.

Air Force(Football, Basketball, Hockey) - went there for undergrad
Michigan(Football, Basketball, Hockey) - went here for grad school
UCLA(Football, Basketball, Baseball) - raised a Bruins fan
Dodgers - raised a Dodger fan
Tottenham Hotspur - like soccer and wanted an EPL team and Spurs history spoke to me. Plus Red is naughty.
Tigers - figure I can root for an AL team and lived in Michigan for six years
Lakers - raised a Lakers fan
Lions - stopped following the NFL when I was stationed in Japan, when I came back the Lions became the home town team.
USMNT - USA USA USA!
Red Wings - never really had hometown team and then I moved to Michigan.
Probably too long a list but I love sports. Although to be honest I really follow.college, the EPL, and baseball and the rest are more of a notice when there is time kind of a deal.

I just want to see a lot of recruiting options at point guard, given the staff's "luck" with recruiting, may as well line up as many lottery tickets as you can.

Or it's a parent pointing out his perspective and hoping his kid listens to it. It's called parenting and while it's frustrating to see it go like this, I absolutely get a dad wanting to be able to watch his kid play college ball.

The staff has a bunch of LB's in this class with a lot of targets on the board, more bullets is always good, but I don't see that being a problem with this class, agree that parents aren't going to let him go to Michigan, though.
|1 week 1 day ago||My take on players being able||
My take on players being able to graduate in four years is this, counting on a fifth year to get your degree is a big risk and I have a feeling players who know they're at risk of not getting that fifth year probably figure it out within the first couple of years and can start to make an academic plan that gets them to a degree within four years while taking advantage of the summer sessions. I can't imagine there isn't a support system in place in which they are told what their academic options are and given staright talk as to what they need to do and should plan for. I think at some point natural sympathy for the time commitments they are asked to fulfill has to be balanced against the realization that people have to be held responsible for the choices they make, even if conditions aren't ideal.
|1 week 1 day ago||1. He's a fifth year senior||
1. He's a fifth year senior and likely 22/23, calling him a boy is pretty damn rude.
2. You don't know his whole situation and why he transferred, it is much more likely he knew he wasn't going pro, had his degree and just wanted to spend one more year playing football and getting actual time on the field. Frankly, it's hard to blame him for that.
3. I find it hard to believe any coach is going to bring a level of intensity to practice that a fifth year senior is not going to have experienced or be able to contextualize and it's not like heading to Ohio is going to make practices or workouts any easier, the coach at Ohio has to coach for his job, too.
|1 week 1 day ago||I wish Countess had stuck||
I wish Countess had stuck around as well as I think he would have provided experience if nothing else. His instincts in zone coverge are proven to be good as well and there's no way to call his transfer anything but a loss, especially given his current team.
As far as the veiled RR comment goes, agree to disagree.
|1 week 1 day ago||These are the same questions||
These are the same questions Alabama fans were asking before Saban, OU fans were asking before Stoops, Texas fans were asking before Brown and are asking again. Programs just have to go through periods in the wilderness like Michigan is going through now, what makes this one especially painful is Groucho Mark's ascendance in East Lansing coupled with tOSU's lucking into Meyer right when it looked like they were about to go through a similar period. Coaching makes a big difference especially when an institution has to catch up to the times. Michigan has now done that and while this year will be growing pains as the team catches up to what's expected of it, I just cannot believe that the ENTIRE offensive roster was a recruiting miss. There are some good players in there, they just have to be found and given the right environment to succeed. We may not be looking at the talent base we thought we'd have by now, but I don't think it's a smoking crater either.

Well here's hoping they can pull this out, but color me skeptical. Klinsman has some hard questions to answer about a meltdown like this.
|1 week 3 days ago||My mistake. I tend to mix up||
My mistake. I tend to mix up the two schools as I assume high level prospects out of both of them are automatically ticketed for USC. Thanks for the correction though, as I prefer to be accurate in these things.
Regardless my point still stands, he's a high level prospect out of a USC feeder school and is going there. I almost feel sorry for coaches of other schools recruiting these guys as to a certain extent they have to put in the effort to try, but it's a foregone conclusion where the guys are going, so they must feel like they're wasting time and resources to simply keep up appearrances.

Jack Jones is a high level DB prospect out of Serra, he's going to USC no ifs, ands, or buts. I would LOVE to believe otherwise but I just don't see it.

Beilein must be getting tired of having to move into plans B and C, he's doing well with those no doubt and I think we'll end up ok at the end of the day, but man I hope he has a LONG list of backup point guard options.
