Infinite points for adding something from Muppet's Christmas Carol or.....Best Christmas movie ever.

I would be very surprised to see that. I think Niumatalolo ends up being a Navy lifer, much like Fisher DeBerry was at Air Force. He's a good coach and while he's been a thorn in Air Force's side, college football is more fun when the academies are at least competent.

Reynolds is a damn good triggerman and I will happily eatch him move on to a new career in military service.
Don't get me wrong I root for Navy whenever they're not playing Air Force, but life's just easier when Navy doesn;t have quite such a good QB.

Lions qualify with two games left to play, I'm not sure I know how to deal with this wonderful reality.

Yes, let's trash one of the few Michigan friendly local media personalities. Sounds like a great plan..........

That was the part that concerned me as well. It goes back to how it seemed like the O-line just could not get a push last year. Still I wonder how much of this is "confirmation bias" from a prominent OSU player who would rather see his players go ANYWHERE but Michigan. When I was at Air Force, I was used to seeing a size disparity between my team and the other one and the contrast was especially pronounced against Notre Dame, but I have a hard time believing there was that great of a difference between two well known power five schools that have recruited similar types of players.

Am all for the long view and in general agree with you, but even knowing the team was bound to take a dip this year hasn't really prepared me for just how much of one they've taken. Expecting the team to be anywhere from a 4 to a 7 seed is a lot different than wondering if they even make the tournament.
I'm sure they'll improve throughout the year, but I think this feels like the bigs need a full year development cycle to even approach competence(somewhat like M's O-Line). Long term the team will be fine, but I have a feeling for those of us hoping Basketball would salve the pain of the football disaster there's a lot of disappointment ahead.

I was concerned after NJIT, but figured weird crap happens in basketball all the time. Two times shitting the bed back to back is bad and I've rapidly lost my optimism for the season. And, Oh Goody the next game is against Arizona so it's not like there's a confidence booster coming up.

Given what the rumors consist of, if they're true I don't really see that as being a forgive and forget, especially if you can back it up with doubts that Miles would be good for Michigan football given his experience as the head coach of the only significant team in a talent rich state and some shady recruiting and personnel management practices.

I'm not sure what the answer is but I have the feeling being treated like a potential violent criminal and being signed up for, likely, non-voluntary counseling and therapy because your background points you as a risk is a non-starter and I'm not sure I like the implications.

Regarding Mora turning down Texas and Washington last year I think the script looked like this:
1. Team was poised for big things with a lot of returning talent, Stanford and Oregon visiting UCLA and, crucially, the final year of Brett Hundley(the most talented UCLA QB since McNown).
2. Lots of momentum from the crushing at the end of the season of both USC and Va. Tech.
3. A fresh promise from the administration to upgrade the facilities and a demonstration of commitment by raising Adrian Klemm's salary and allowing for the hiring of Kennedy Polamalu as an RB coach.
Add in the fact that he had only been at UCLA for two years and I doubt too many coaches would have left.
Now for this year:
1. Hundley's gone and the Stanford and Duck games are on the road which he has to go into with either a freshman Rosen, Neuheisel's kid, or one of two poor man Hundley's that the team recruited at the last minute.
2. UCLA is still on a postage stamp and just dealt with a huge water main break which may mean promised upgrades may never happen or get unacceptably delayed.
3. The batshit wing of the UCLA fanbase is already starting to turn, worrying that Mora may have a ceiling(never mind this ceiling is a better three year run of success than the program has ever had).
4. The reality of UCLA being a basketball school in a USC city may just be getting to him a little bit and he may jump at the chance to go to a football school that can be the big dog program.
Seems like a better situation to leave now.
Personally, I like Mora a lot and I think he'd be a shot in the arm. He turned around a similar situation at UCLA in which a lot of underachieving talent had been stockpiled. He's a good recruiter and has been very good about establishing fan relations.
Here's what I worry about; both Oregon and Stanford have basically been kryptonite for him and given that the Ohio State=Oregon and MSU=Stanford parallel's exist in terms of style of play and program profiles, I wonder if he can turn the rivalries around as quickly as we'd like. That said, there's no doubt that UCLA has been up for the USC game every year and that was a rivalry in which the Bruins had been owned for years(and embarrassingly so, the only close game was the one the Bruins improbably won a few years back).
TL:DR There was a lot to keep him in Westwood last year that I don't think is repeatable this year. Don't necessarily take his turning down Texas and Washington as signs he's looking to stay in Westwood or leave for the NFL.

Utah is Mountain time and he was a Utah lifer that Urban kept on, not sure the student vs. master thing would get much traction.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Bull! Mora's still fighting||
Bull! Mora's still fighting an uphill battle against SC for the big SoCal guys and has been more than holding his own. If he can do that then I'm willing to bet he can go into Ohio and face the same situation without blinking.
UCLA may have underwhlemed but at least they were in position to do so and at least when Mora had a young team(which UCLA was this year) it didn't collapse into a burning tire fire of sadness.
TL:DR Think you're being a bit harsh. Mora may have a ceiling, but given how he resurrected UCLA from a tire fire it's worth checking out.

With you on KLS, but very happy with Malzone over Rosen.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||They're frustrated by his||
They're frustrated by his game planning and calling. Thinking most of his success is a byproduct of Hundley's individual brilliance rather than anything he does. That said this is going by Bruins Nation which is by far the most batshit crazy of the SBNation blogs. This is what years of frustration and flailing around can do to a fanbase, they're already worried that Mora has plateaued and that they're getting a Jeff Tedford vs. a Pete Carroll. The question of who the hell do you think you'll get that will do better never seems to cross their minds.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||No, it really isn't. No||
No, it really isn't. No politics, but holding a viewpoint that an opinion on one issue in which there appears to be sincere disagreement(held by a lot of people still)is the same as hate is pretty ignorant.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||He was on the verge of what||
He was on the verge of what was suppossed to be a historic season at UCLA with Brett Hundley's last year and a lot of maturing talent. If I was in his shoes I wouldn't have left either. Now we can basically offer similar things, lots of talent, uncertainty at QB, and a somewhat uncertain future. However, Michigan can offer more money, fan support, and MUCH better facilities. I don't think the lessons of last year necessarily apply this year.

That he loves coaching football and is grateful for the opportunity in a new place and is looking forward to a long, successful run? Not that hard really.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||It's an interesting thought||
It's an interesting thought but hard to see Frost leaving a stable OC position at oregon for what would be, at best, a lateral move.
Given that coach-in-waiting deals almost never work out and there's not much leverage there.

Disappointing perhaps, but I can't see how this is a surprise to anyone.
If he's not coming I hope there's a plan A, B, and C going and serious ones.
It looks like Ohio States case of the stars aligning for Urban isn;t going to happen for Michigan and while that sucks, it may be for the best to get the fan base past this whole pining for something that will never happen.

First off: Nooooooooo! He's USAFA's guy no-one else can have him!
More seriously, he's been fairly up and down and has been pretty abrasive with the C-Springs media, interest in the program has taken a bit of a nose dive even as he restructured the program after Fisher "retired". He's got pro experience and his preferred offense isn't the wishbone, but rather a more passing attack. But, I think his overall program management isn't really there yet, he's getting some slack at USAFA because he's an alum, but I don;t really see him as being the guy right now.
