to that clip. felt like hitting somebody as soon as i could. i would say with the exception of that last de-cleating hit, that #7 got the best of this guy (#52 i think) and i was also curious why he didn't penetrate more on some of those run plays with the guards giving keys that made it an obvious 'crash!' play.

and a lot of work went into that. chuckled too at the conclusion section. thank you.

rock 'n roll, back when* i was at michigan. lots of memories.
(* for the younger bloggers here, that was shortly after electricity was invented...)

and your family. but i would mention two things that hopefully are of comfort. first, your grandmother's wishes really were granted in that she was vital, loving, together right to her last days, undoubtedly surrounded by family as her last breath was taken. lots of us mgo-bloggers have stories about how one loved one or another didn't get that ending, so in the big scheme of things, your grandmother passed in wonderful fashion and i'm sure we're all very glad for you in that context.
second, your grandmother isn't sick anymore. she is healthy now, spiritually healthy, and that means no more suffering.

if it's fiction, it's some of the best fiction i've read. however, it certainly has the sound of truth to it. where were these bag men when i was playing at mich?

but i was reading that fister was opening the season on the DL. i really liked the guy like pretty much all of you did/do, but maybe dave d had a rabbit up his sleeve the whole time.

in the chinese version of hoosiers (but about football, not basketball), with dennis hopper standing in the huddle with his new team in Ghaichaing province, 'okay boys, we're going to throw the old great wall of china defense at 'em, and don't get caught watching the mortar dry!'

thank you for putting that together. could tell it was time-intensive. it is the far more worthwhile version of one of those 'where are they now' updates. if/when you find time, it would be fun to read for other years and positions, but that would be way too much work.

kudos to him.
years ago i did that to a buddy who teaches other pilots how to fly the 'big-heavies', the 747's, DC's, etc. he had dropped some flour bombs on us from his private plane while were out in the alaska bush hunting and fishing. when we got back to civiliation a week later i called and amazingly he took the call while he was in front of about 2 dozen students for the class. told him i was an investigator for a 'combined FAA/Alaska Fish and Game task force'. berated him mercilessly over the phone for close to 10 mintues, then let him up for air. he took it very well also.

according to wikipedia. it says the saturday games were 4/1/89, championship game was monday 4/3/89. i will confess to an elevated blood alcohol level, lo those many years ago in seattle.

showed it to wife and the 4 oldest kids and they loved it, as did i. oldest son asking, 'how come you never told me you were at that game?'.

the boys started 35-5 and won it all at tiger stadium against the padres in 5 games. bless you boys.

we won the MNC in hoops. 4/6/89 (a monday) vs. seton hall in the kingdome which was arguably the worst place on the planet to play a basketball game. was there with one of my brothers and my best buddy and man did we have a time. made it onto local t.v. with a pre-game interview at a bar called 'sneakers', a couple hundred yards from the kingdome. rumeal robinson shooting one-on-one with about 2.5 seconds left in the game, down a point, and he made them both. the two greatest foul shots in the history of basketball.
go blue to you all. enjoy the glorious sunshine and the blessings of the day.

kentucky would not be in the game if the refs hadn't pushed them past the badgers.
|1 week 4 days ago||Agreed||
i don't mind either team and don't have a dog in the fight, but the ref'ing has been horrible. the one block they called on #12 for wisconsin with about 6 minutes left in the game was unbelieveable. he was literally parked under the basket, outside of the little arc, for the last 5 or 6 steps of the kentucky kid who ran right into him. - blocking foul.

took a few of the kids down to the joe on a very last minute road trip. i was very impressed with the habs, particularly their #'s 14, 20 (vanek?) and their hefty defenseman, # 76. wings will have their work cut out for them
let's go red wings!

years ago, when we were thin at QB too. Our OC had played QB at wyoming and was an excellent OC, mid to late 30's and in very good physical shape. he'd occasionally play for the scout team offense and of course nobody would actually hit him, but he had the tools if we'd needed him. at the time 'we' meant our law enforcement football team, playing other teams from around the country - police, fire, corrections teams. lot of fun and raised a boatload of money for charity over the years.

after all these years! kidding of course. actually, magic was more like our enforcer, remembering at that time a 6' 4" 235 lb defenseman who could skate and had very good hands was a freak back then. he was also a solid guy though, never a schlong. lot of talent on that team, myself excepted.

|1 week 5 days ago||Welcome||
and would love some more info on the lad. he's not that young. i was only 17 when i started playing at michigan. youngest, smallest guy out there (just about to get a growth spurt) and man i took some crud for that my first training camp, especially when all the other guys started losing weight and i started to gain weight and grow.
i still remember dave richter (aka: magic) 'counseling' me while we were doing the shadow drill one of our first on-ice practices at yost. i was all full of piss and vinegar like any kid would be. magic tells me, 'hey, rookie, slow down. this can be alot like work, eh.' i have used that line for 35 years.
