to be so tall?  if you have a 6' 3" guy that is quick and strong, and assuming his arms aren't short, what is the magic of the LT being 6' 7"?   i played with guys of both sizes, and have to tell you my favorite LT linemate, who played for the cowboys before coming to us, was a shade under 6' 5" and a stud. 

playbook, but a real assist is taking up preparation time for the opposing team's defense who will have to scheme for it.  

the holiday bowl, year in and year out, has had some of the best bowl games ever.  lived out there for years and attended a few of them.  plus, played at qualcomm and i like that stadium.

as cooks, waiters thing.  enjoyed it and they did a great job.  oldest even prepared a legit menu for us to order from with a few choices of entrees and desserts.

tonight will cook steaks for mama and i, the kids get burgers.  not to worry, they come from our cows, raised on our hay, non-gmo corn, aged just like i want and butchered up by me and the oldest sons so they are very enjoyable and excellent nutrition. 

fire going in the wood stove as it is still snowing up here in northern michigan.  most has melted, but yesterday and this morning we were completely blizzard covered white out conditions off and on.

random comments:  i was 4th gen Univ of Mich, 2 nieces are 5th gen.   dad went to Mich before WWII,  finished at MSU after.  first college game i saw was at MSU.  i played hockey (not enough) for mich and have been a football season holder since '80.   missed most games after graduation til came home from out west in '04.  ann arbor is 4 hrs south.  would take the various children to see my dad in e. detroit and get special grandfather time on friday and then sat a.m.  did my best to 'interview' my dad about his life for the kids to hear - his WWII P-51 days, meeting mom, his business stories, all of it.   he died 8/11, but not before all my kids got a few of those special weekend.   then on the saturdays after more time with dad,  would take child to football game and special father son/daughter day, then back up north.

now we have lots more kids so i have to trade for 4 seats/game.  5 boys, 2 girls, all love football.  the oldest boys play now, the youngest are waiting, desperate to start.   all are mich fans as you can imagine.  oldest daugther asked last night if maybe i could take her to a b-ball game.   that answer is a 'yes'.  

our children don't need our money or 'stuff' we could buy them, they need our time and guidance doing educational and fun stuff, or just hanging out together.  michigan sports are a great way to do that.

how/why else would all of the avatars have the cursed red/grey nonsense surrounding them?   this is worse than a north korean nuke attack i say.   repel the invaders!

at the whole second half.   McGary got called for ticky--tack nonsense, but was no-called when guys grabbed his face.  burke got hammered at the top of the key when he was starting to drive the lane with around 3 1/2 minutes left and that was a no call, turnover to the bad guys.  we also had to call our last or next-to-last  time out when morgan got the ball on the baseline with about 2 minutes left and with his feet planted at the baseline, got hit so hard by 2 'cuse guys that al borges probably wants to recruit the two orangeman for the O-line.   lots of other calls like that.  they are focusing on the two calls that didn't go their way, thats all.  tell them to take a longer look and they'll realize that as variable as the calls were, in the end 'cuse got it's share of calls.

passed harvard up, that is.  came down to playing there or at michigan, and we lived less than an hour away from ann arbor and my mother had died the year before.  i made the decision that i wanted to be 45 min from home, not 14 hours.  life would be much different had i decided otherwise, but i can't imagine how life could be any better.   congrats in any case on the acceptance.   here's to hoping the OP has that decision to make about 18 yrs from now with his son.

we beat the football gators in lloyd's last game and against a highly ranked florida team that was essentially playing a home game.     today was great, but the background circumstances weren't as unfavorable.

1.  Playing the windsor spitfires in their stadium (1979) and i hustled back to break up a near break-away.  i got there, but we all went sliding into the net and that was back in the days when the nets were pegged on big pegs.  the next i remember was the trainer leaning over me and i'm stuffed way in back of the net and he's asking me if i'm okay.   i remember my dad waking me up every hour that night - that was the 'protocol' for concussions back then.        2,  Playing LAPD in football, i'm the tight end.  our quarterback throws what we commonly called a 'medicine ball' and though i catch it, i pay the price.  i am hit by LA's safety who had played for the new orleans saints the season before.  we go to the ground and he says to me, 'shit! you caught the ball.  nice catch!'.   i am barely able to breath at this point and say 'nice hit' and run off the field.  TV cameras follow me and the announcers comment on the catch.  meanwhile my teammates are asking if i'm okay and i'm telling them to not f-ing touch me, let me breath.

lost the state championship last night on a nearly as miraculous shot, though no steal involved as time ran out.  heart breaker, but kudos to the victors of both games, and kudos to the wolverines for beating sparty in a thriller.

in the fall correctly, but must admit i'm surprised by his weight.  candidly, unless he has a smokin' 40 time i doubt he'll be drafted.  he's a guy without a firm position and if the rumors and comments on this board are accurate, his right hand is numb 4 months after the trauma that caused it.  great player, great michigan man,  but he could be the odd man out of the nfl.   

still went bird hunting and skiing in socal, but the difference was that it was a 3-8 hr drive that needed to be planned around ridiculous traffic.  here, if i want to hunt or fish or ski i just walk out the front door and head to the back 40 or possibly a 20 min drive to a ski hill (granted, not as nice as the sierras).  the real meat of the matter is that as much as i love people, i hate crowds and life is wonderfully different in that aspect back home.  

is the californians.  about 30 million too many of them.  and the weather is nice for a while, but i missed the U.P., i missed real snow storms, i missed fall days bow hunting and bird hunting.  i mean we had fun out west, but i was always hot too.  

have swam in the pacific many a day in the winter.  gets about as cold as lake michigan (mid-50's) is in may and october.  so now, i swim out front of work from as early in may to as late in october as i can handle it - but no wet suit, that'd be for girls....

and i take pretty good care of the body i've been given, but i try my best to never talk smack about it.  i can appreciate others' efforts though.  and the 'worth your while' would be the credibility of your internet soul - that ought to be good enough.

at this point, but i couldn't resist:  gordie howe (uncle gordie) is the greatest of all time.  a gordie howe hat trick was a goal, an assist, and a fight.  much as i love gretzky and knew him slightly when i lived in L.A., he could never have competed in the 46-78 era that gordie played in the bigs. 

and 'le rouge, le blanc, et le bleu' (red, white and blue) are a dynasty like no other.    you have to have played up there to get it.  been to yankee stadium and can appreciate the yanks and their excellence as well, but the canadiens without question deserve their place as a dynasty.

as for dr. buss, met him in the early 90's at a laker game, surrounded by hotties that were decades younger than him.   while we can all make fun of his escapades, in reality i thought it was a little sad that he was spending time with bimbos (pretty ones, no doubt) but not his peers.   seems like that would be an empty existence after a few go-rounds.   may he test in peace.
