Arrived on Saturday. Good luck.
I know the guys are really trying - hopefully the delivery system / timing will improve next year.

Great game for him, and excellent to see him stepping it up after some struggles earlier in the year. We need him to keep it up to make a run this year.

That's just because unlke Microsoft, they just don't tell you that the placemens you're seeing have been paid for.

I work in the industry, and throughout the whole console marketing cycle, I was sure that PS4 would end up being the way to go. However, after having played / worked quite a bit with both, I have to recommend the Xbox One.
As mentioned above, there are a lot of extraneous factors that can shift you one way or the other. For example, if you're looking forward to certain platform exclusive games, or the majority of your friends play on a particular system, those are perfectly valid reasons for picking one over the other.
The PS4 is basically PS3^1 in my opinion. The graphic fidelity is great, developers are having an easier time making games that play well on it, and the interface is pretty much you're used to from Sony. However, aside from the track pad and some other minor controller modifications (that still don't make it as good as an Xbox controller - though the XB1 controller needs some tweaks as well), there really isn't much difference. I always defaulted to my PS3 at home because it could play Blu Rays, but now the PS4 doesn't have that advantage over MSFT.
One thing that isn't getting much attention is that the PS4 no longer has free online play. They slipped the PS Plus announcement in during their E3 announcements and it largely went unnoticed. In my opinion, it will not be as good as Xbox Live Gold and I'll probably cancel my subscription or even end up bricking / gifting the console once the free subscription I have expires.
On the other hand, while initially I was skeptical of the Kinect features - specifically, the voice recognition - it really works well. I still have the remote around for random odds and ends, but running your TV through the Xbox and changing channels via voice control is pretty slick. And it will only get better as they work through deals with cable providers. Having all of your entertainment on one system is pretty cool. The only downside to that is that most peoples' living room TVs aren't ideal for gaming... but I digress.
Microsoft has a long way to go to improve some funcitonality, but my bet is that they're listening to the feedback and hard at work to make it better. Not that Sony isn't working hard on the same front, but given the two systems' current functionality paired with long term potential, I have to recommend XB1.
For folks wondering about backwards compatibility on either platform... don't hold your breath.

Strangely, I remember the exact day I signed up.
There was a certain beauty to Haloscan... I feel like it should be brought back from time to time just for posterity's sake, although the site is probably too big to handle it at this point. At least live blogs are sort of a proxy for those days.

Hate I break it to you but there is a cap on out of state admits that is hit every year. In-state and out-of-state applicants don't really compete against one another and it is far more difficult to earn acceptance from out of state.

as usual. I vote this to be front-paged. Timing is perfect with the bye week and heading into B1G play.

Just a standard post-foul scuffle, and the camera happened to capture CD at the exact right moment.

Watched this on DVR about 10 times after seeing it live. First words out of my mouth to the buddy I was watching with: "that needs to be gif'd."
Bravo, internet. And Clint Dempsey.

Prime example, still ended up getting picked in Round 2.
Interesting Wikipedia fact - somebody must be a hater: at the time of the NFL combine, had 4 children by 3 different women.
|2 years 24 weeks ago||Being in Minneapolis||
I do have a slight bias towards seeing us get the 1-seed at the XCel Center, but I do hate that it would likely entail a 2nd round matchup with the Gophers.
For those who thought Duluth had a home crowd advantage at last year's final (basis my seats / angle, I'd estimate 85-90% of fans behind them), you'll know that we do not want to face ANY MN team in a one-game playoff in this state.
Lame as it may be, I guess I'd prefer a boring couple of games with no significant home ice advantage in Green Bay followed by a couple more "boring" no-home-ice games in Tampa... and I'd hope to be at all of them, myself.
|2 years 25 weeks ago||At least...||
I was just listening on the radio stream rather than actually watching. Easier to be detached from a frustrating night of hockey. Unfortunately, as Brian has pointed out, that's the way this team is this year. Let's just hope they find that fire again down the stretch...

And the "new" mgoformatting is a real drag on THE_KNOWLEDGE's approach to posting. The default 1.5 spacing after an enter really changes the dynamic that used to be presented by the period-filled spaces.
Anyone else remember when using the spacebar after hitting enter, then hitting enter again was the only way to have a gap between paragraphs?
Undoubtedly the current system is far superior to the older 99.9% of the time, but I believe that THE_KNOWLEDGE should have access to the old formatting system.

I've been enjoying not having it around and was hoping the season wouldn't happen. More college BB coverage as well as other more compelling sports where the athletes actually seem to care about the game at hand.

|2 years 39 weeks ago||Good Luck||
I'll always be hoping he finds success at Arizona. Would have been great if he'd succeeded more quickly here, but best of luck to him at AZ.
Glad it isn't a usual opponent for us, because I know he'll be successful again, though I guess baggage in the Big East and Big 10 country would have probably been too much for a team to gamble on him (and still be worth the career risk to him given program quality) in those parts of the country.
|2 years 41 weeks ago||Having him on the field this||
Having him on the field this weekend or any other would have been such a disaster - protestors, supporters conflicting, etc, etc. Would not have been an okay situation.
JoePa - thanks for your contributions to college football & for the good things in communities that you've done that will now likely go unremembered. I wish you had exercised better judgment and avoided this fate.
