I brought my girls to their first women’s bball game today. We had a blast. Great crowd energy and the tickets are a great deal too.

I am with you on this…

I am with you on this. Seeing a cat catching frisbees on the field every now and then would be a nice alternative.

Was hoping to get a glimpse…

Was hoping to get a glimpse of the new scoreboards. Completely black in that teaser.

Same. I’ll just go to…

Same. I’ll just go to Michigan Stadium. Much better experience!

Hoping for a similar result…

Hoping for a similar result as that magical one in 1997 he was a part of!

Yeah, I found this awkward…

Yeah, I found this awkward to read as well. I think it is the same thing semantically. He is using ‘pushed back’ when the quote says ‘moved up.’ Bottom line: season starts a week early.

My hot take is that Corum…

My hot take is that Corum wouldn’t have put up Edwards’ numbers, because he doesn’t have breakaway speed like that. It actually worked out well to have Edwards as the home run threat without any safeties back.

Watching the game on tv, it…

Watching the game on tv, it felt like it had the atmosphere of a high school game, with the crowd going back and forth and the game being pretty undisciplined. I think that is the kind of game that generates a lot of hot takes.

I recall two very off target…

I recall two very off target passes to Dickinson as well. I was also surprised how easy Farrakhan got by him. His feet didn’t seem very quick on the defensive side.

Andrel had to lay out for…

Andrel had to lay out for that one and he had his man beat by about 5 yards. That is on JJ, actually.

There are plenty of pom poms…

There are plenty of pom poms. You can find them at the gate or in boxes around the stadium. Students are just more inclined to use them.

Maize definitely pops more at night. Blue just looks dark, like the sky. Blue might be better during the day, idk.

The helicopter was cool. Not sure if it was visible on tv, but they did some kind of maneuver that tipped it at like a 45 degree angle toward the field. It also dipped down around midfield, which enabled it to get much closer than the usual jet flyovers. Nice alternative.

The pic is great. Very well done.

Because they were ranked…

Because they were ranked 111th in the country in pass defense coming into the game. Odd we didn’t take advantage of that.

Same. My 9 year old wanted to know why he refused to say his last name. Just shut up.

Besides edge, we lack depth…

Besides edge, we lack depth at tackle. Maybe superior freshman mitigate that, but I am skeptical. The LBs seem to be the most questionable position group, the secondary has some major holes to fill with guys leaving, and we have a new coordinator. Yes, we still have talent, but for me, that’s a lot to deal with.

Great post OP. That takes…

Great post OP. That takes courage. There are some great posts on this thread. I wanted to add a bit of my story.

I am 45 and quit drinking 6 years ago after a DUI and nearly destroying my life by drinking too much (mainly on weekends). I had to go to AA as part of probation. It took me a long time to get over my many issues with it. I still don’t always feel like I belong when I am at meetings, but there are a few things that I have gotten out of it that have helped. One of them is actually embracing relinquishing free will. It took me a long time to get to it. but admitting that I was powerless over alcohol was so amazingly freeing. It really opened the door to the rest of my recovery. After gaining that insight I was able to gradually move away from the obsessive thoughts and negative consequences that were part of my life for so long.

My life is far from perfect, but over the past 6 years my life has improved gradually, but immensely. A few highlights: lost 50+ pounds, ran 6 marathons, purchased second home, stayed at the same job, financially successful, and most importantly I became a much better father and husband. And it feels damn good to wake up sober. A bad weekend morning for me is still way better than waking up hungover and confused.

I still have the occasional thought about a drink, but not the urge. There are just too many good things happening in my life to indulge that momentary selfish thought. Also, as I said above, I dont make that decision anymore, it has already been made for me. By admitting powerlessness I put that decision out of my control. That keeps me sober. One day at a time.

I hope you find peace and happiness.

Just got back from a trip…

Just got back from a trip this past Saturday. We had truly spectacular weather for 7 days (no rain and highs in the 70s and 80s). I hope it’s the same for you! This was my third trip and by this time have been around quite a bit of it. Cliffs of Moher and Ring of Kerry are great. Made it to the Giants Causeway this time, which was cool if you make it that far.

I didn’t love Galway, but to each their own. Kilkenny is a cool medieval town. On a previous trip I visited the Brazen Head in Temple Bar, Dublin. At a bit over 800 years old it was cool to grab a few pints there. There are so many great places and the people are much friendlier.  You are almost guaranteed to enjoy it. Have fun!

Or just attend all in person…

Or just attend all in person. At some point it might be cheaper than all the streaming services.

Haha, same. I got to meet the Nobel Laureate in an English class I took my senior year at Michigan.

I was a freshman in 1995. Great memories of that year!

After the Penn State game…

After the Penn State game. The rally was on his front lawn. He eventually came out, said a few words, etc, then invited us all in.

I don’t remember kegs. I do remember scolding kids for stealing bottle of wine, not cool. On the other hand, he and his wife were very cool.

Nice comparison of Jeter to…

Nice comparison of Jeter to Johns. Although I wish it wasn’t true.

I got them last season for…

I got them last season for the first time as an alum. Great decision in hindsight. No waitlist. Also no paper ticket option, which I would have opted for.

Might be a candidate to replace Marcus Hall epic double bird of the week!

If his father raised him to…

If his father raised him to be 'a man', why hasnt he been able to find the time to man up and have that conversation in the last 20+ years?

They literally created programs for the 'gifted and talented' students when I was in high school.

My question too. I was able…

My question too. I was able to follow all those initials without a problem, but I cant figure this out.

Too busy dragging their feet.

Too busy dragging their feet.

NBA Topshot is my first and…

NBA Topshot is my first and only experience with NFTs thus far.  I got in mid January. At one point I had an ROI of almost 20. It has since dropped to about 5. Still extremely lucrative, but timing was key. People that got in at peak valuation in late February could have a negative ROI. Conversely, the initial closed Beta investors could easily have an ROI of 100.

I dont think the current Topshot valuations are insane. As a digital collectible with the backing of the NBA, I think it could be undervalued relative to physical cards.

The past few months have been interesting on Topshot. The exponential user growth caused pretty massive problems scaling the infrastructure. The are not really marketing it right now and it is still growing.

It will be interesting to see what happens as they come out of Beta. I can see it continuing to grow or fading away.

In a bit late on this, but I…

In a bit late on this, but I think it is a great idea. We bought in 2019 and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. We have 3 girls and they love it. So do I.  We use it year round and are going up Friday night.

I would definitely advise on lakefront. It is really nice to be able to have a short walk to the water as well as the scenic views.

We are on Intermediate Lake in the town of Central Lake. Torch Lake is just west of us. We are 10 minutes north of Bellaire (Shorts and Shanty Creek). Traverse City is 45 minutes west, Petoskey is 40 minutes NE, and Charlevoix is about 25 minutes NE.

The location is perfect for us. Isolated enough to not be in a tourist area, but close enough to go into town if we want.

We paid $165k for a small 3 bedroom cabin. However, we are one of 5 cabins on a shared property. My buddys family is one of the other owners, so we were familiar with it. Similar completely private properties on the same lake are at least $350k. The market is really tight right now as a lot of people are looking to do the same thing you are. One of the other cabins sold this fall immediately. Work with a realtor and be ready to move quickly.

We have been rehabbing since we bought it and it isnt as bad as I would have thought. I prefer to pay people though, since I want to enjoy it while I am there. I use a couple Arlo cameras to keep an eye on it when I am not there. Hard to believe, but we have city water, natural gas, and fiber internet is coming in the spring.

Good luck!

Yeah, that is why I wish he…

Yeah, that is why I wish he would have returned. I think Macdonald would have helped him a ton.

Of course he can do whatever he wants and hope he succeeds in the NFL.

Yeah, I think a lot of…

Yeah, I think a lot of people are confused. That is Nua, not Rooks at the top of the page.

Right...I think the OP was…

Right...I think the OP was referring to whether or not Harbaugh would be the HC next year. If not, maybe Dylan would have stayed?

Should be paired with an 'I…

Should be paired with an 'I feel the pain of everything' shirt. Because that comes first.

Great post! I appreciate the history and a bit of info on the new members of the team. And the humor was good too.

Hart was responding to…

Hart was responding to Harbaugh complaining about the academic standards at Stanford compared to Michigan.

Not sure how you say that…

Not sure how you say that without any actual knowledge of the negotiations.

There are a few bits that leaked out about the timeline, but its not like what happened at Texas with Meyer/Herman. THAT was handled horribly.

If Harbaugh took a 50% reduction in base salary and a reduced buyout as reported, that is pretty damn good. It is not surprising that it took a little longer than some fans unrealisticially thought it should.

Agreed. Let's move forward.

Agreed. Let's move forward.

This year we severely underperformed relative to expectations. Next year this probably won't be the case and we may even significantly overachieve.

We will probably(?) still be meh next year, but hopefully this year was the bottom and we will look back at it as an outlier.

Hulu won't even allow you to have legit second locations. For example, I can't use the native Hulu tv app at home and at my cabin.

I can get around it by screen casting from my laptop to tv, though.

Maybe Campbell is moving on…

Maybe Campbell is moving on to the NFL (with another DC) and he heard we might need someone...funny to think about.

Exactly. Thinly veiled…

Exactly. Thinly veiled passive aggression toward Big Ten admin, along with a healthy dose of sour grapes for teams in other conferences.

My take is that he has a grudge with the Big Ten conference administration  and is just using this as an excuse to be passive aggressive. All of those points applied to Michigan as well. It seems clear he thinks teams in other conferences had advantages we didnt. That's it.

Right. Then it only looks…

Right. Then it only looks bad for Harbaugh, not Warde and Michigan.

I don't think Harbaugh would sign an extension then leave a week or two later, for a better job.

One possibility is Warde…

One possibility is Warde said this just to buy some time and has no intention of waiting until the end of the season to can Harbaugh.

In this case, there is an offer, Harbaugh can accept it or go to the NFL. If it goes until Dec 19, then he is coming back and no recruits are burned. Everything looks legit, etc.

Since they mentioned him…

Since they mentioned him tonight (I think they even said the BSU coach played with him), Chaundee Brown reminds me a lot of Michael Finley. Especially when he was lighting it up against BGSU.

Might want to double check…

Might want to double check the overall records for Purdue and Northwestern.

A learned earlier this week…

I learned earlier this week a boy that used to live across the street just got into Harvard on a lacrosse scholarship. I am seeing it in a different light now and wondering how much 'effort' his parents put into it. I do not live in an extremely an extremely affluent area as detailed in the article.

It's hard for me to not see…

It's hard for me to not see our secondary as flawed.   We seemed to be scrambling to determine starters 2 weeks before the first game.
