Jim could do it all. As a youth Football coach, we have experienced Center Quarterback fumbled exchanges. I remember watching JIm play QB for Flint Central in a High School Playoff game at Lansing in about 30 degree weather. No Fumbles.
He was also fierce in the South Quad/West Quad snow ball fight. I remember Football Player WR Greg McMurtry, who also played CF for Baseball team throwing darts at Jimmy. I remember Jimmy throwing 90 mph darts back. (Advantage McMurtry, he made a better snow ball for obvious reasons)
JIm is a great guy. His stories and life experiences were/are inspirational. He bleeds blue. Jim was a guest at our MSU v UM tailgate with a bunch of mutual friends. He always takes the time to personally talk to all of his old teachers administrators, parents of his friends, and coaches. Best of all, he took the time to throw a football for about 20 minutes with my 9 year old son.
Talking to a NW commit about next years season, not really that strange. Probably the wrong forum. You're right. Re Hayes, mostly a joke, but I usually wear Maize and Blue on the weekends. Point made on other threads, re recruiting, Hayes and Jones very tight. Hayes NW lean.
Will Discuss this topic next week at NW WR Commit Tony Jones' Open House. I will be wearing Maize and Blue when I see Grand Blanc RB Justice Hayes There. Those two are inseparable.
This was brought up about a year ago re: piped in music. "The Victors" on guitar would be cool. As mentioned earlier, they have a great song "Especially in Michigan" paying homage to Michigan roots.
SWFla, Voted again for Pinchers. Looks like we are in Good Shape. 53 to 47 Good Guys with 2 hours left.
Still hope we get a small "Thank you" from Pinchers for the support. (My vote is for the Henne Photo doing the Gator chop.....or Tebow getting smothered; both are appropriate since they are "Pinching"
I will be in Florida TWICE in April. (Kid Rock Chillin the Most Cruise, and Key West) I may drop in on Pinchers....I may also flex muscles in a UM Tank top at AMOB
Read the comment sections, the UM SPace in Pinchers is being discussed as is the MGoBlog, and cheating allegations. Based on the scandal the race is tightening up. 53 to 47
PIston Game is boring they were getting blown out until a 15-4 run right before half. So....
I voted about three times 51 to 49 Bad Guys......1232 votes
I have been to the area several times. I voted for Pinchers, but I felt dirty doing it because I do enjoy dining at AMOB. GO BLUE , but bad guys still winning 54 to 46
Gadman, and Victors, I am part of the SW family. My dad worked at SW. My Dad has retired, but works with my brother and I. What a shame, no details yet.
Purchase a Billboard right across the street from Detroit Free Press, Comerica, and Metro Airport and take out full page ads in the newspapers Maize Journalism!, with unflattering photos and a huge GO BLUE at the bottom....?
Wow! I bleed blue, but come on. Seek counseling. The cheeky witty verbal abuse and rants are funny and interesting. However, this appears to be over the line at best, if not subtly instigating violence at its worst.
Comments like this unfairly represent all of us fans, as fanatics. Now that you vented and may have thought this notion once, publicly retract that insane comment now that rational thought has prevailed.
So what do you think about Piped in Music at the Olympics? I love Neil Diamond.
I think Neil Diamond went to MIchigan, or at least visited there once.
( I have never seen a thread about Piped in Music or Neil Diamond)
M -Wolverine, it was tragic. Thanks. Apparently, it was some cardiac adnormality/ failure, triggered/caused by a combination of the strenuous workout, drinking a cold beverage, and the stimulants caused by his chewing tobacco. (Or at least thats what they told us when we were 17)
1985 While playing baseball at Flint Southwestern, we had an away game at Pontiac Central. Our Pitcher that day, Chad Joslyn had a boombox cranking the hit single "Don't You Forget About Me" from the movie the Breakfast Club Soundtrack. All the way from Flint to Pontiac, Chad played that song over and over and over, singing and laughing. He pitched, we won 9-0. In between games Chad told me he felt sick. He collapsed. Emergency personnel arrived and worked on Chad in front of all of his teammates. His uniform was cut off, defibrillators were used to shock his heart, lots of injections, I heard a strange throat noise and noticed he lost control of bodily functions.
The ambulance left. This was of course before grief counselors. We played the next game. We won, 12-0. After the game, the bus headed to the hospital when we were met by a police car. The police officer indicated Chad had died. That was the longest bus ride home ever, all of us crying.
We went on to finish 25-5, winning the Flint City Championship, and Saginaw Valley Championship, including beating Jim Abbott. That songs still stirs deep emotions and memories of Both the ride to the game, witnessing the death itself, the ride home, and our accomplishments.
I get goose bumps when I think of the irony. I have the memorial patch #19, team pictures, and my framed jersey in my office to this date.
RIP CHAD
