I just sold all my possessions, drank the kool aid, and ran around my street naked. Under the circumstances I think this was a fairly calm and measured reaction.

One of the cool thing about coaching searches is that you learn about other people/coaches to root for. I started investigating Stitt after Brian brought him up and followed him on twitter.
He seems like a genuinely fun guy and a really smart coach. As silly as it is I will probably follow the rest of his career and cheer for his teams. Stuff like that is part of what makes college football so much fun.

This is a good point.
The biggest variable in everyone's evaluation of Mullen is how you take the quality of his competition into account versus other candidates. Even most advanced models have a difficult time taking into account how bad the teams he beat were and how good the teams he lost to were.
So to bring it back to your point, the pro Mullen crowd would disagree that he has a history of okay coaching. I'd say he pretty solidly outperformed MSU's historical average. This year put him on the map as a guy who could make it big, but I think he was already a solid candidate before this year.
Besides, look at the other plan B's that are popping up. Does anyone really want Schiano or Addazio over Mullen. Like, really? I just don't see the need for having that debate. The only real debate in plan B's is Mullen versus Les.

Here is my opinion on the Harbaugh yes/no pendulum:
Harbaugh hasn't made up his mind. Friends/colleagues/acquaintances are constantly asking him about the Michigan job. He gives his thoughts without giving a definite answer. The people asking are left to read in between the lines because "He hasn't decided" isn't buzzworthly insider new. So they give their personal spin on it.
Most NFL guys read into his indecision as a "no" because they believe no one would ever leave the NFL if they didn't have to (as Brian keeps stating). Most Michigan guys read into his indecision as a "yes" because what michigan guy wouldn't want to be the new Bo? They are just defaulting to their own current bias on the situation.
So really, we just have to wait until Harbaugh makes up his mind. All this crap is just people who don't know shit giving us their opinion about Harbaugh's indecision.

I feel like this will be Beilein's most three heavy team yet, and I don't think that is a bad thing. When you have as many shooters as we do you might as well take advantage of it.

He doesn't know his HP lore very well. Hermione was born to muggles (insultingling called "mudblood" by voldermort's ilk). Harry was neither born to muggles nor was one himself.
BOOM you just got told and I'm just going to go away now let's all forget we had this conversation.

Personally one of the things that I am enjoying the most is how juvenile DB's writing style is. Maybe I need to voice my displeasure in a way that he would understand:
Hey Dave....thanks for sharing about the "miscommunications" over the noodle, seat cushions, cokes, Shane Morris incident, etc. So much misinformation!! It is just that...your incredibly blatant disregard for the fanbase is wearing a bit thin, we can only take so much!!!!!
Thanks for the "e-mail" and I hope you have a nice life......doing something other than ruining my beloved Michigan Wolverines.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||I really can't understand why||
I really can't understand why anyone would be offended or upset at the publishing of Brandon's e-mails.
Given the highly prolific nature of Brandon's actions this year, we the public are already forming opinions of who he is as a person. That isn't always fair, we don't always get the full story and don't know the full explanation for why things happen the way they do.
What better and more fair source for judgement of Brandon could we possibly have than direct communication between the man himself and concerned fans. Yes they paint him in a negative light, but there is no one to blame for that except the asshole who wrote them. There is no possible interpretation or media spin that can possibly twist this around, it is just a man and his words.

You met a sprinter and he was laid back, which to you is evidence that Myofascial Self-Release is key to athletic performance? You don't have any clue what his training regimine is. Same goes for Usain Bolt. You can't use laid back people as evidence of the efficacy of a training method that you don't even know they use.
While I don't doubt that flexibility/mobility is a big part of athletic performance, the entirely of your evidence is scientific sounding bullshit and anecdotes. Come back when you have actual science and/or statistics to share.

He's been a solid kick returner and is a regular contributor on offense. Maybe not a superstar but most certainly a player who was worth offering a scholarship to.
Not that your asshat post deserved a response but just in case you were wondering.

Proof doesn't matter to most of the Mgoblog community who already knows the type of person Brandon is. I think it does matter to outsiders who don't have the familiarity with our program, though, and the e-mail would just be more bad press for a person we want out.
Anyway, we all know this is going to be proven true and then Brandon will claim that it was an intern who checks his e-mail that sent it.

Saying Hoke can save his job if he finishes 7-5 is like saying petered0518 can be a professional athlete if he can be as fast as Denard Robinson.
Sweet hypothetical dude, while I'm here let me tell you about my top coaching candidate, Bill Belichick.

I know this site is known for great analysis and reporting, but HOLY SHIT ALL I WANT TO DO RIGHT NOW IS GOSSIP MY ASS OFF. THANK YOU FOR THIS BRIAN I NEEDED TO HEAR IT.
I'm like a middle school girl talking about her favorite boy. Just saying the names Long and Harbaugh get me giggling and smiling and writing secret love notes.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||Given what we know now about||
Given what we know now about Hoke and staff's ability to field an offense, I don't think Denard's struggles post RR era reflect all that poorly on him. Coaches are the ones who teach the qbs to read defenses and not a single UofM QB under Hoke has shown that ability.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||There is a rather disturbing||
There is a rather disturbing trend of poor talent evaluation developing for this staff (in addition to many failures already outlined in other places). Any individual item from the following list could be written off as a fluke or coincidence, but taken all together I think it represents a massive failure of the Brady Hoke era:
- success of Josh Furman and Thomas Rawls after transferring.
- Constant Oline shuffling last year.
- Bellomy over Gardner (I know they moved Gardner to WR, they should have known that Bellomy wasn't ready)
- Shane Morris over Gardner for Minnesota game.
- Countess starting over Lewis to start this year.
- Jake Ryan to middle linebacker.
- Quest to replace Thomas Gordon last year despite him being one of our most reliable players.
- AJ Williams over Hill or receiver.
This is all just off the top of my head, I am sure others can think of more examples. I am starting to come to the conclusion that Hoke and staff base their personnel decisions off of quaint and intangible notions like "toughness" and "physicality" rather than actual effectiveness. Their track record of identifying the best man for the job is pretty horrifying in my opinion.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||I'm sorry, but any criteria||
I'm sorry, but any criteria that compares Schiano and Patterson and ends up prefering Schiano is screwed up.
Schiano is widely disliked, had a track record barely any better than Hoke at Ball State/SDSU, and already said no to us once. I just don't get it, why would anyone want this guy?
|9 weeks 4 days ago||On one hand, yes the Franklin||
On one hand, yes the Franklin timeout was worse on the surface. EXCEPT, if the PSU staff called a regular punt originally and the players weren't looking to the sideline since they already had the play call. In that case, the timeout is actually necessary since PSU couldn't afford to kick it off at that time.
Still terrible communication but at least there is a scenario where a timeout is needed.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||He will definitely be in the||
He will definitely be in the league that long. He just needs to find the right team, hard to judge how good any individual player on the Jags is. I check the box score every week and while his stats are usually poor, none of the running backs on that team are finding any success at all.

|10 weeks 9 hours ago||I don't think they have given||
I don't think they have given up on Hoke, but I also don't think that is grounds for keeping him. Winning is part of the coaches job in addition to developing his players.
Almost every functional sports team develops a family mentality, especially when a guy like Hoke intentionally fosters it in his players. That is one of the really cool things about being part of a team and I think it is great that the players defend each other and their coach. But that mentality also makes it so that their opinion on the competence of Hoke is heavily biased and shouldn't be a factor in evaluating a coach.
Anyone objectively analyzing Hoke's coaching acumen during his tenure at Michigan has to be coming to the conclusion that he is in over his head. There is no other explanation for our inexorable decline over the last three years.
|10 weeks 9 hours ago||Do we really need more losses||
Do we really need more losses to terrible teams in order to convince people that this staff needs to go? I mean, if the games against ND, Utah, Minnesota, and Rutgers weren't enough...I just don't know man. I don't think anything could bridge that segment of the fanbase's disconnect from reality. If you can't see what is right in front of your face you are never going to see it.
Given the inevitability of getting punched in the face by our biggest rivals and having 6 losses on the season, Hoke's fate is sealed. Let's cheer for some wins to get the player's confidence back up and salvage some dignity (however infitesimal it might be).

|10 weeks 3 days ago||Interesting thought. I agree||
Interesting thought. I agree that median may be more predictive of the outcome of a future rush, but that isn't necessarily the only insight you wish to get from a rushing statistic. The fact that a super fast running back is more likely to break an 80 yarder is better reflected in the mean, and it could be argued that mean is a better indicator of the ability of a running back based on his chances of ripping off a big one. Mike Hart probably looked fantastic based on median but only average based on mean. The ideal answer of how to measure a running back is somewhere in between the two (I don't know the actual stats for Mike Hart, I was just using him as a theoretical example).
In the end, mean is simply easier to calculate, which is the real reason it is used in online stats.

Only fair to note that Gardner's YPA is 7.6, which is much more reasonable. Still hasn't been very good for what was supposed to be the strength of our offense.
