| 13 weeks 1 day ago | We played T Mills and Romulus in the opening round |
of the playoffs during his senior year. We were doing our little layup drill warmups, then looked down the court and watched their layup drills, which were a series of alley oop slams. We were beaten before the tipoff and lost by more than 50... I never fully realized the disparity of basketball talent until that night. |

and Riley is phenomenal. Corvallis is a tough place to recruit to. It's very isolated and doesn't have the glitz of U of O or the sugar daddy. He gets one, two and three star talent and churns out pro football players and solid teams just about every year. He'd be a nice add to the B14G |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | 2012 stats |
Looking at http://www.nfl.com/teams/statistics?team=det, the Lions have outgained their opponents over the year by about 900 yards, and they have 50 more first downs over the year. They have been outscored by 19 points this year overall, and have a -6 turnover ratio. Unfortunately, these stats do not include complete dumbass plays (CDPs). I'm sure the Lions are at a +50 for that this year.... |

Beat up the lousy nonconference teams, win one big one, make it into the top two, and then lay and big fat deuce to an unranked foe. It will all hold serve if they're shut out of the BCS, gripe about it, and then lose to Purdue in the Weedeater Bowl. |

teens who will lose out on opportunities because of their tweets or facebook posts. I am a high school teacher, and I had a student tell me he was tweeting and that I should check it out. After checking TomVH, I went on and saw what this kid's tweets. Pretty tame over all. But then I saw many other students were following this kid, and so I clicked on their accounts. One kid used his twitter to deal weed, another spewed white supremist crap, and many others said things that would have made Mr. Wright blush. Plus, there were kids calling teachers fags and cunts. None of these kids are D-1 athletes, and I had to report the weed kid and white supremicist. Kids (my old guy comment) may know how to use technology but they also have no filter, and many of them are just trying to get a laugh - and be as outrageous as possible to attain one. YW's tweets were appalling, but I doubt he's the pussy-obsessed, white-woman coveting teen he unfortunately portrayed himself as to the entire world. I hope he figures it out... |

| 1 year 22 weeks ago | So, at the risk of spending a summer in La Paz, |
is there any way that we, as Michigan fans, are overblowing the severity of infractions? This one has dropped off the radar from a national standpoint, given the issues that have since broke in Miami and Penn State. Was firing the iconic Vest and a few scholarship reductions enough to satisfy the NCAA gods? Is it because the money and benefits received was small compared to USC and Reggie Bush? I just can get my head wrapped around the idea that they shouldn't get hammered given the scope of improper benefits and apparent LOIC, but it may be because of my myopic viewpoint.

I figured it would take us at least a few years to get the OSU monkey off the back. Then, the Senator was exposed for being the big liar and cheat, and that sped up the process. | 1 year 27 weeks ago | Question |
Is Denard the only one playing a new offense? Is he the only one making mistakes on blocking assignments, routes, snap counts, etc.? It's probably really hard on Denard to be the only person making mistakes while learning a new offense. Every blocking assignment has been executed perfectly, and every receiver route has been run with laser-like precision. We were a 7-5 team that got manhandled against every quality opponent, and we installed a new offense and defense. While the Juice comparisons are fair given the athleticism, I think we take our mid-level bowl, win one of the last three (and the bowl game), and call this season a success. I'll take 9-4 given the shit maelstrom we've had the last three years. Denard has proven to be a student of the game, and is willing to bust his ass to succeed. I can't wait to see him next year. |

| 2 years 4 weeks ago | It's hard to rank Nos. |
It's hard to rank Nos. 2-10, but I have a definite No. 1. 1. Tigers - A's in the ALCS 2006 - My father flew out from Michigan, and, on a whim, we bought some tickets on stubhub, grabbed a cheap flight from Portland to Oakland, and cruised down to watch the Tigers win. One of my best memories with my dad. 2. Pistons-Lakers in the Game 6 of the NBA Finals at the Silverdome. Crappy seats, but 40,000 for a game. 1988 3. Mich. v Duke - Wolverines rally from deficit to win at Crisler (1997). 4. Mich v Oregon - A loss to Oregon at Autzen, but that stadium and atmosphere must me appreciated. Incredible college environment. (2003).
5. Switzerland v. Romania in World Cup soccer at the Dome. Could care less about soccer, but what an environment. 1994 6. Tigers vs. Blue Jays, 1987 - Tigers made a late push to win the division, and needed some victories against Toronto (I think they were 2.5 back with a 4 or 5 to play). Sat in the centerfield bleachers with my best friends and some SoCo (god, that stuff sucks) in the stands. Tigers won on a Dave Bergman walk-off and went on to win the division. 7. 2010 - Comerica Park with my 4-year-old son for his first game. Enough said. 8. 1997- Michigan v. Washington State in the Rose Bowl. 9. Nebraska vs. MSU in East Lansing (1993?) - It was great to watch state get thumped, but I was blown away by Lawrence Phillips, who, along with Mike Williams (USC and Lions Flop) are the best college players I've ever seen in person. 10. Oregon State v. USC - Reser Stadium, Corvallis - 2006 - OSU friend and grad had an extra ticket and I sat five row behind Petey to watch Beavers beat USC for the first time in 30-some years. Never saw 50,000 people cry with joy until that day. Very cool, though I could give a rip about either team, really.

but I believe there was a lot that we never heard about (and that we shouldn't hear about). As talented as Denard is, I found it strange that Tate went from a SI cover boy to third string. Then the stripping of the helmet wings. I won't speculate on why, but this simply doesn't happen unless there is a reason. Had TF had continued to grow as an athlete and a student, it would have been suicide to remove him as starter. RR got a lot of grief for doing this, even after people saw what Denard could do. Tate should keep his mouth shut and be thankful he hooked on with a high-profile school, talent (moxie) or not. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | I was for giving RR a fourth year, but |
Wahhh on not letting this guy land on his feet. That's ridiculous. He landed on a mattress full of money, and he will get a pick of jobs in the near future. He had three years here, and while the roster was decimated, I think it's hard to see that there was tremendous growth. The offense was outstanding against shitty competition and sputtered against quality defense. Injuries, QB, warring factions, blah, blah, blah. But Michigan is a top-10 recruiting school historically, and we should have been able to add enough key guys in the previous two classes that should have made significant contributions. Instead, we had an offense that relied on our QB to be superhuman. He was, and we barely won. Yes, RR had bad luck. But I was tired hearing him complain. It sound like he was making excuse, without ever taking blame for things he had control of. Whatever the opinion on Hoke, The Decision and RR, it seems that the program has a feel of stability that it hasn't had in three years. |

The momentum and all the great press will have a huge impact on recruits, and two weeks is a long time, considering that most of these kids meet the coaches one or twice, tour the campus, and then make their decisions. How close is Bolivia to Pollyanna? |
| 2 years 17 weeks ago | This depends on the vantage point |
Looking down at mine: OK Looking up at someone else's: Not good. |
| 2 years 17 weeks ago | I would think |
Hoke's priority is the following: 1. Keeping his current players ... don't need a bunch of transfers. It's more important than losing Dee Hart, Jake Fisher, etc. Oh, yeah, and round out his coaching staff. 2. Figure out which guys who are current committed will best fit the his system. 3. Recruit and poach accordingly. I expect this to be a top 25 class by Feb. 3. |
| 2 years 18 weeks ago | Really there are three choices |
1.) Get on the wagon 2.) Get off the wagon 3.) Bitch about the wagon who was fired after going 0-6 against its two most hated wagons. |
| 2 years 18 weeks ago | All part of the grand plan |
|
| 2 years 18 weeks ago | Is your anger due to the fact that despite |
knowing our kickers, he's calling for the extra point try? |
| 2 years 18 weeks ago | sir, |
When we are allowed to give points again, you will have one from me for Shitting Rainbows. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | Demetrius jumped the shark |
when we started calling him Dee. Good luck kiddo. It was fun imagining you in maize and blue since you were a freshman in high school. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | Well shit |
OK, fine...let's move on. I wish the kid well, but frankly, I'm sick of Dee Hart. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | Could it get worse? Yes |
Someone could have purchased you a Shake Weight for Christmas. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | My biggest worry would be that |
I would be the third person to say DG must not burn his medredshirt...shit....too late. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | My fear is that I have some friends |
who don't understand that New Year's Day is for football and nursing hangovers. It isn't a day to get families together and go sledding at Mount Hood. Yet my wife (a UM grad herself) seems to think that family time at the mountain is a better way to spend NYD, instead of me camped in the basement watching the game. Bunch of damn communists is what they are. |
| 2 years 20 weeks ago | Agreed, but |
he wanted to stay in WVa. and had the choice to do so. With a head coach waiting in the wings, and considering the small number of teams running the 3-3-5, I think Michigan is in a significantly better spot to land him. |
| 2 years 20 weeks ago | Plus 1 |
If they play the 3-3-5, many top defensive recruits are going to be scared off. I don't care if we get 4's and 5's, as long as Casteel comes and makes this a top-10 defense. WVa. is the only major school not to allow 21 points in any game this season. If we get Harbaugh, fine, great, a Michigan man. If we keep RR, great. Now let's go get the guy who knows how to execute the 3-3-5. He's worth five AZs (although it sucks that we lose an instater) |
| 2 years 20 weeks ago | Wait ... UMD? |

| 2 years 25 weeks ago | Riddle me this |
What the hell does the term family values really mean. Is that you put the family above all else? What if your family is littered with assholes? What are your values then? I always found the term humorous because it is so ambiguous. |

| 2 years 26 weeks ago | The last two years... |
It's been so raw, so strange to have losing seasons, to drop games to Toledo, and to barely squeak by Indiana. It just feels different now. I don't feel particularly good about our chances against Wisky and Uof OS, despite our record and our potentially improving defense. I don't feel entitled anymore as a Michigan football fan. Prior to 2008, I was disappointed when we dropped that first game of the year, thinking, "Oh well, no national championship. At least we can get to the Rose Bowl." I remember thinking the Capital One Bowl and Gator Bowl were consolation prizes. I remember believing that we had a top-5 team every year. Now, it's almost like I'm waiting for someone to take two of our wins away. Don't get me wrong though; the last two years have been among the most exciting I can remember. I think it reminded me that your team doesn't win simply because it has on the winged helmets. But it makes the wins more satisfying than ever, IMO. |
| 2 years 26 weeks ago | If DG redshirts as we hope, |
I have a feeling we won't be signing a QB this year, nor should we with so few spots available and depth issues on the D. Sousa seems like a solid kid, but do we really need a QB in this class if the medical redshirt happens? |
| 2 years 27 weeks ago | That was fun stuff |
on a Tuesday. We've pretty much dissected the game last week and the upcoming game. I nice little diversion. Thanks DA and mystery announcer. |
| 2 years 27 weeks ago | My guts are filled with beer and salami |
and will likely cost me an angioplasty by age 45, but my gut is also saying we've got a damn good shot at this kid. The timing, his original interest in the school, the investigation concluded and RR's job appearing to be safe for another season all were part of his reasons to not seriously consider us. Then, he simply came to the craziest game ever. Agreed that snake oil must flow, but I have a good feeling about a commit. I wonder what kind of impact a DA commit would have on Sammy Watkins... |
| 2 years 27 weeks ago | Special teams play put a lot of heat on the D all day |
I thought heard the announcers say Illini starting field position was from their own 48. Tough to keep points off the board when you give them half a field to work with ... on average. |

| 2 years 32 weeks ago | Parents were visiting and I took them to Saturday Market |
My parents found it strange when they saw a man in a business suit holding on the a street pole and spinning around in several times, then picked up his walk as if nothing happened. The tai chi walkers were icing on the cake. "Wow, this place is weirder than San Franscisco," was my father's comment. |

| 2 years 33 weeks ago | Oh, I totally agree |
I remember when he blew past me at a kegger to proposition my girlfriend with little regard to me or her. When she turned him down, he actually seemed surprised, like, "How dare you not succumb to my powers; I'm Jim Frickin Harbaugh." It was my first brush with self entitlement. How cool it would be to experience this for just a few seconds... |
| 2 years 33 weeks ago | 2007-Oregon State and USC |
A friend of mine, whose family had a long-standing relation with OSU, invited me to see the game because his father wasn't going (just buried his wife). OSU had not beaten USC in 35 years, but ended up getting out to a huge lead. USC roared back, but lost on the last play when it couldn't convert on a two-point conversion to tie. My friend started crying, everyone around us started crying, and we stormed the field. Couldn't help it, even though I was rooting for my friend more than the Beavers. Probably the most powerful sporting event I've ever been to. |
| 2 years 34 weeks ago | Thank God |
there is no video of Cowherd eating a hotdog. |
| 2 years 34 weeks ago | I know it's been said, but |
we are fucking 3 and 0. Did you really think we'd be 3-0 at this point. I didn't, not with a solid UConn team coming in to play our beaten up squad from last year, then a trip to Notre Dame. We will lose some games this year, but the offense is miles ahead of where it was last year. And, god forbid, if DR goes down, there are two competent backups to take the place. The defense looked like shit last week, but I thought they were decent against UConn and Notre Dame (minus some breakdowns). The question is whether the uMass game is a trend or an aberration. We're going to have to see... This team has Iowa and State at home this year, and could start 5-0. I think eight wins is no longer pie in the sky; it is very achievable. Our recruiting class will be strong, if this happens, this will be the last year we have 8-10 freshmen in our two deep. It's going to be a gutwrenching year, but we should really begin to turn the corner. Have faith! |
| 2 years 34 weeks ago | Winning cures all of this |
At least players who couldn't (Vlad and LaLota) crack the depth chart left, and several students with grades issues and one who showed up out of shape (Turner) have left. I was most disappointed about Vlad and JT, but many of these issues will dry up if we can win eight games this year, finished ranked and continue playing exciting football. Because of DR, Michigan is getting more national pub than anyone right now, even Alabama. When RR gets this ship really rolling, kids won't struggle with qualifying, and kids will know where they stand on the depth chart when they're being recruited. And they sure as hell won't show up out of shape. |
| 2 years 35 weeks ago | So that's one talking head bashing DR |
What's the score, about 3,000 to 1 now? If he can somehow stay healthy, DR will kindly shove his Heisman up Mr. Forde's back 40. |

| 2 years 37 weeks ago | 2009 prediction. |
I saw this on umgoblog when I googled his 2009 prediction. "Phil Steele’s 2009 College Football Preview (On newsstands now) predicts Michigan to finish 6th in the Big Ten and as the 48th overall team in the country and play in the Champ Sports Bowl against Miami (FL). " http://umgoblog.com/post/162.aspx Basically, the article goes on to break down some of Steele's info. This obviously did not include the multitude of turnovers, but it is a reasonably interesting read, just the same. II so frickin' hope we pull 8-4 this year. I'm nervous as hell about the UConn game, but as long as we win the turnovers, I think we're going to get it. Can't wait to hear whether the stadium is as loud as advertised post renovations. |

DD can tell us what he knows, and how he feels, but the university would be way out of bounds to talk about the situation publicly, regardless of the negative image it presents to recruits, their parents and us fans. The only thing RR will probably say is, "Demar Dorsey will not be attending Michigan this fall." And we'll be left here wondering ... Just like Marcus Witherspoon. |

I want this kid here because he is an amazing athlete, thus I really want to give this kid a chance to succeed despite past transgressions. But if he is a crapbag, he can go elsewhere. Yes, he made some mistakes and was caught twice. He could end up being the greatest DB of all time, but if there are red flags that stretch beyond him being CAUGHT twice, we should pass. I stress the word caught because I imagine this is what is holding up his admission. Neg the shit out of me, but I don't want to sell out our proud school after it's been through the wringer the last 18 months. If there were no penalties looming, no NCAA probe, no violations, no Justin Feagin, well I think we could take a flyer on him. This kid will help the program, but he will not make the program. The risks of bringing in this kid outweigh the benefits, especially if there are other concerns besides his run-ins with the police. If he goes south, it's another embarrassment on our program. All this being said, I hope (against hope) that there isn't a problem, that DD has seen the light, and because of that, he is blue this fall. |
| 2 years 49 weeks ago | I believe this photo best |
I believe this photo best demonstrates the results of numerous kicks to the groin we Michigan fans have endured over the last 18 months. |

He said don't worry about it, which is a relief. Still, I feel a bit like Steve Carrell in "The 40-year-old Virgin" when he's dreading the next day at work after he is exposed as a virgin. I have that kid in my first period class tomorrow. "Yep, this is going to be bad." |
| 2 years 50 weeks ago | A bill like this could be inspired by newspapers. |
Because of the the access so many have to the Internet and the overall demise of print, it could provide some separation between credible news sources and dudes in their basement who want to rant. Before the attacks begin, I'm not saying this would work, nor am I saying that all journalists credible (I was a newspaper reporter and editor for 15 years), but I could see this as a ploy to separate themselves from the blogging community. As we all know, there are some outstanding blog sites (like this one) in which the creators not only disseminate information, they also adhere to journalistic standards and get the information themselves. Most don't. But licensing won't accomplish this, unless the standards put forth recognize journalism education and experience. And still, there will be a lot of shitty licensed reporters. |
