Well done sir. In throwing someone's post back in their face you've now topped over 100 and can show appoval/displease with up or downvoting.
That said, I've just violated a conerstone rule of MGoBlog...don't talk about MGoPoints

I don't know if I was too young, or just out of touch w the Bball team at the time, but I don't remember what happened regarding Crawford. Timeframe-wise I know her was there for what was the eventual trainwreck that was the Ellerbe era. But what happened?

I mentioned this below too. It'd be great if they had a full line. I'd love to see M in Warrior
|12 weeks 1 day ago||It's too bad that Warrior||
It's too bad that Warrior doesn't have a full line. They are more of a lacrosse company that recently also started really expanding soccer apparal. I think it'd be cool to have a unique, local company supply U-M athletics. I think there could be a really good symbiotic relationship (somewhat like Nike-Oregon)

Since we're talking (again) about it, was gibbons actually hurt for OSU? Do we know if this was when the AD/Hoke knew something was amiss?
|23 weeks 1 day ago||I wasn't there so I certainly||
I wasn't there so I certainly don't know what happened. But I'd like to start a discussion point from a different analogy so I replied to get this a little higher in the thread.
I see similarities to the NCAA vs. Penn State. Major differences here are that the evidence was overwhelming in that case, and more importantly there were concurrant criminal proceedings. Of course this is not a perfect analogy, but it raises a question-
Here's my point: Did you (MgoBloggers) think then, and do you think now, that an organizational body that has noting to do with the criminal justice system (NCAA/OSCR) that does not have investigational power, should be able to dole out punishments for criminal (felony) actions?
I don't have the right answer to this. I was so angry at PSU for turning a blind eye that I wanted to see them punished, but leveling the punishment that the NCAA did for non-football related felonies was inconsistent with their previous punishments.
In this case now, we know there will be no criminal charges, but yet someone has leaked this and we all know are thinking that Gibbons is guilty of commiting this act (WHICH IS A FELONY).
As I've stated in other threads, I'm more comfortable with organizations within the criminal justice system investigating and punishing criminal acts. Thoughts?
|23 weeks 1 day ago||A prison sentance it is not,||
A prison sentance it is not, but expelling someone from a University is quite a large punishment for a body that has no investigative power and is acting completely outside of the criminal justice system.
While we all agree that further steps should be taken to punish (& therefore reduce the incident) of sexual assult, this policy (to me) has multiple large flaws.
This is a difficult, delicate situation where we are trying to balance victim's rights vs. accused rights.

Mods I suggest this is worthy of bump. Just fantastic (informative too)
|23 weeks 2 days ago||Good points. My larger point||
Good points. My larger point is that regardless of intention, the consequences of this governing body's decision are very real and have profound effect (agreed that Gibbons already graduating is not the point here).
The problem with your analogy is that the person in question is not being reprimanded (or 'administrative action' or any other euphemism) for cheating on a test. The person is being reprimanded for what is in fact a very significant crime. So punishing someone for a criminal act without them being charged as such strikes me as quite odd.
I've tried for the most part to post about this policy in general terms and not specifically about this case, but I would add that in a case such as this where the person in question is a well known member of the student body, this person is now publically known as guilty of improper sexual conduct/assult (even if this is not the intended effect, are we to think anything else?) Phrased another way, I would argue that most people here, regardless of how they felt before yesterday, now are more likely to believe that Gibbons did perpetrate this act. This happened without criminal due process (although I agree he was given administrative due process in this case).
Bottom Line (for me)- I think something this profound and significant I would prefer to have handled in the court as opposed to a body completely outside of the criminal justice system, but I am open to counter-argument
