I think you can stop trying to push your sports travel business as I don't think there is a single Michigan fan that wants to drive two hours to see a former wide receiver potentially catch 2-3 balls against SMU for Baylor.

I don't think anyone with any knowledge of the subject would actually say that a recruit is being recruited as a return specialist.  Every D1 WR/RB/DB is capable of becoming a return specialist.  They all probably dominated their high schools in just about every facet of the game - including returning kicks.

I seriously hope that Dantonio isn't offering guys for their return abilities only.  The only people that are saying things like this are just rationalizing why the Spartans offered a relatively low ranked slot receiver before his senior year of high school.  I guarantee that MSU offered him because they saw something and think he'll be a good WR or DB(?) for them, not because he's really good at returning kicks against high schoolers.

Not to be too snarky, but it's probably because they are professionals and not the evil a-holes we all like to believe them to be.

There's nothing OSU's coaches can show a kid in a drill that is going to decide The Game three years from now.

You do know that is not Brian in the photo with Shane Morris.  Right?

Your post immediately above

Your post immediately above giving your opinion/analysis about Poggi and Hurst was informative.

This post, however, is a bunch of hooey.  What makes you think Ty Isaac was sold on SC because of Snoop, fame, fortune, and the weather?  We won't land every single kid that we want and it is not because the kid inherently isn't a Michigan Man because he didn't accept Hoke's "gift".

Every NCAA football coach sells the very same things you mentioned - family, tradition, integrity.  If you think Saban is ONLY telling the kids "NFL, NFL, NFL", you're wrong.  We've heard it from our own commits that Mattison isn't afraid of comparing recruits to his former Ravens players.

I like where your heart is, but c'mon.

That's the joke.

I assume they'll raise it

I assume they'll raise it against one of the weaker teams early in the season.  That way they'll get a win on the banner raising day and they could potentially sell more tickets to a game most wouldn't attend.

Are fat jokes still cool?  I know we all collectively roll our eyes when we see a Hoke is fat joke by some Sparty/Buckeye/EDSBS, but somehow it's funny when Weis is the target?

If you are really interested

If you are really interested in Charles Woodson actually reading this letter, why don't you post it on his Facebook wall? Or on his Foundation's website?

I'm sure he won't read it there either, but at least it is directed in his specific direction rather than on this blog.

The Big Ten and Pac 12

The Big Ten and Pac 12 standing firm and dropping out of any playoffs to keep the Rose Bowl is simply commiting football suicide.

Nobody arguing for the Rose Bowl has addressed the various posters that have mentioned that ZERO top-shelf recruits will come to a school that can't even play in a NC playoff game.  Hoke could espouse the virtues of our system till he was blue in the face and recruits would only look over his shoulder to get a better glimpse of the NC playoff promos running constantly on ESPN.   Once we lose the ability to realistically recruit top players, the quality of football will drop, less fans will be interested in our teams, which leads to even weaker teams, etc.

This might be the type of law

This might be the type of law suit that doesn't result in any sort of victory in court, but the attention it has drawn could result in the school district taking another look at its try-out process.

Her son may not benefit from the suit, but it could result in the school district revisiting its policies.

Don't know what to think of

Don't know what to think of Kiper anymore.  Lewan at 12, but he also has three Spartans in his top 25.

Newsflash. There are zero cool-looking mascots.

They are all dumb looking.  They are supposed to be a fun distraction for the fans attending the game.  Nobody really gives a shit about them. They are harmless.

If U-M adopted one, there would be OUTRAGE here for about two days.  Petitions would be made and unrealistic boycotts would be suggested.  After the teeth-gnashing, everyone would have it out of their system (except for the psychos) and everyone would continue on with their lives.

I'm going to post this thread over on Bucknuts.

There can't be too many of their kind that live in OKC, recently had a birthday and have an attractive girlfriend that works with a UM fan named Corky.

Don't be surprised if tomorrow some guy with the handle OKCBuckeye is gonna have words with you for ogling his girlfriend.

Unless you think Alabama

Unless you think Alabama would agree to visiting us in 2012 and then waiting until at least 2015 for the home matchup I don't see how we make it a home and home.

If we played Alabama at home this year, we would have two road nonconference games in 2013 or 2014.  We are obligated to play UConn on the road in 2013 and Notre Dame in 2014.

The only way it would get done would be to pay off U-Conn to drop out and that amount would certainly put a dent in any profit we would make in scheduling a bodybag home game.  I think I saw the buyout amount was $2M.

edit: or we just go on the road this year and have one hella awesome Home schedule next year.

I don't think anyone is

I don't think anyone is saying that we shouldn't cheer for UM.  I think the idea was to also cheer Air Force when they first take the field rather than boo them like we usually do an opponent.

The PA announcer will no-doubt introduce the AFA in a very glowing patriotic way.  Taking his cue, a majority of the UM fans will likely either cheer or at least not boo.  The few who do will then look like assholes to everyone around them.

The only reason to boo would be to justify ones own belief that they are a bigger "fan" than the adults around them.

Yeah, trick was probably the

Yeah, trick was probably the wrong word.  If that technique truly is a starting point to developing a reliable gait - awesome.  It was probably the setting.  If the video was in a rehab facility with people with lab coats, rather than in an old warehouse with music blaring in the background, I'd likely see it more as a first step in a course of treatment instead.

Brock Mealer's recovery

Let me start out that his recovery is very impressive and his continued fight to walk is inspiring.

I'm not a doctor or exercise physiologist, but isn't his walking motion more a result of the particular shoulder motion and tightening of his stomach muscles than actual leg work?  I replicated the motion and my opposite leg would involuntarily lift a little.

There is no way I am discounting the courage that Brock is exhibiting in these videos, but if he isn't retraining his legs to work on command, isn't he simply learning a trick that has no practical use?

You do realize that moving

You do realize that moving the split-end to the strong side will cover up the TE, so the D won't have to account for him?

I thought it had more of an Abbott & Costello "who's on first" bit than Airplane.

I like your enthusiasm, but continually running back here after seeing something new on Scout (or whatever pay site) isn't really adding anything to the discussion.

BTW unlike others on this thread, I don't think your friend is ugly.  I just wouldn't appreciate it if one of my friends posted my picture for thousands of strangers to comment on.

Please explain to me why

Please explain to me why hiring Brady Hoke was a terrible decision. Would every head football coach that had a better winning percentage than Hoke  have been a better choice in your eyes?

I presume DB did more than just look at the win/loss column of all of the various head coaches to make his decision.  He actually talked/interviewed candidates and based on that information, he decided Hoke was the best man for the job.

We do not know what the hiring process really was.  We presume it was Miles/Harbaugh/Hoke and nobody else because that is the meme that has been constructed here.   Why can't you give DB the benefit of the doubt and believe that he is capable of finding a diamond in the rough rather than assume he sucks and got lucky?

Is there some DB hiring precedent that leads you to believe he could only get lucky?  Where is he bragging that he's a great AD (pro gambler)?

Most of this site's vitriol toward DB is based on over-blown slights (he said his door was open to players, but it wasn't), game experience quibbles (RAWK muzak), slippery slope-type things (stadium advertising), and general who-really-gives-a-shit bs (mascot!)

First off, I believe that RDT

First off, I believe that RDT is a great poster here, but...

I don't really care whether Georgia is really going hard for an Alabama commit.  General recruiting information is great (e.g., school X is really pulling in a nice class), but water cooler talk and other scuttlebutt about non-Michigan recruits is usually something that gets negged to high heaven around here.

I would guess that that the overwhelming "let's hear more" comments are 1) because of all the goodwill you've built up here; 2) that the non-UM info posted was about the nos. one and two recruits nationally; and 3) that once you start posting about random SEC-leaning dudes, all of that goodwill will start to dry up.

24 pts for Hunwick with only two 5pt first votes (likely MSU, OSU) also means that of the eight remaining coaches that could vote for Hunwick only three voted him 2nd and five voted him third.   Sour Grapes, yes.

I know that's what you meant,

I know that's what you meant, but if you look at the diagram, the "S" (sam) has outside contain in every one of the situations, if he's immediately dropping into pass coverage, the TE is going to have a perfect angle to block either the Mike or End trying to get outside at the snap to contain an outside run.  is your wringle possible in certain situations, sure, but it doesn't seem defensively sound in general.

I don't think you'd have

I don't think you'd have anyone with contain with that wrinkle.  Using the end/MLB/SS for contain would be such a drastic change that it would likely no longer be considered a wrinkle, but just a different defensive call altogether.

Eh, I've said my peace on the

Eh, I've said my peace on the subject.  If I get to the voting threshold I guess I'll be one of the guys voting "no" when Gritty McGritterson's name comes up.

I've never seen HoF criteria like that

I have seen similar criteria for MTv's movie awards, but I assumed this was going to be somewhat serious.  If it is just a list of guys that we like, then I wouldn't call it a Hall of Fame.

I am not trying to be a wet blanket and everybody seems to be on board.  HoF status is usually reserved for the obvious best-of-the-best.  It just looks like this is not going to be your typical HoF, which is going to seem homerific or dumb.

Placing our gritty/good

Placing our gritty/good players in a HoF is just asking to be mocked.  Why would we willfully give ammunition to opposing fans?

Besides, that is only a small part of the reason that a HoF is not a good idea.

There is just no upside to creating the MGoHoF other than as a virtual pat on the back to guys we've followed for 1-5 yrs.  The downside may be minimal, but Mr. Cook has to take into account the fact that it is his credibility that is at stake and placing Jordan Kovacs into a HoF will detract from the blog's (i.e., his) credibility - even if it is just a little.
