There needs to be more excitement over this youngman. He is a guy that Michigan is most likely to pick up out of this group, and on the same stage was a man amongst boys when he played Cass Tech. I saw him three times this year, and he is very very good.

What is being lost in all of this, is that Casteel is just an above average DC.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Everywhere? You mean||
Everywhere? You mean Glennville State, wich he had 2 losing seasons, WVU where he had a losing season, and Michigan where he had two losing seasons. Meanwhile, 7 years removed from WVU, we are still waiting on a winning conference record for a Rich Rod coached team. Really just killing it.

Rich Rod didn't have to pay Barwise nearly 3/4 of a million dollars, and put a million in weight room renovations.

That same whiz of defense gave up 54 to Cal this year, yes, Cal.
Rich Rod played in a piss poor big east, and lost 3 of his 4 games in his final two years at WVU to UNRANKED teams, including the biggest choke job in college football in his loss to Pitt.
He also was a PR nightmare while leaving WVU, then again at Michigan. Coincidence that asshole pisses off people and leaves town?
Stop with the, he is successful everywhere else...where is everywhere else? He has been a head coach at three places, GVSU, WVU, and Michigan, before Zone. He had 5 losing seasons at all three, so the guy is not elite. Zona has yet to have a winning conference record, lets pump the breaks.
Rich Rod sucks.

I've never seen a staff make so many adjustments in personnel so regularly throughout the season. We seem to play rotating chairs at several positions each year, and I just don't understand how you'll ever have continuity if you continue this trend.

I'm friends with the Riddell rep that does their reconditioning, warned me last year to buy the replica helmet then because Brady was doing away with that tone of yellow with the matalic flake, and returning them to original maize. Said entire uniform is going back to old school maize soon.

Lol, okay, the read option has been used since the 70s. Rich moved it to the gun. The nfl doesn't use rich rods read option concepts in the nfl. Maybe they use it as a package, but not as a base. Far from it.
It is Nobel to cheer for zona? Why? I cheer for Michigan

The run and shoot was used by Houston, later by duke under spurrier and eventually at Florida in the early 90s. Nice try though

By continual improvement are you really using his record to make your point? You mean getting obliterated by your rivals, having a losing conference record, having to out score average middle of the road big ten teams, and nearly getting your qbs killed yearly improvement, than I guess yes we improved. Good for rich rod that he is finding success again, it has only been since 2007 that he has had a winning conference record.
Let's not forget he had a falling out with his own alma mater and athletic department at wvu.

Rich rod invented the spread? Only in his own mind. Hell there are books dating back to the 1950s on spread formations, one by tcu coach in 1952. Spreads in the form of run and shoot were used in the 80s too. All rich rid did was add the read option to a gun formation.

Maybe Michigan opperates differently than where I worked, but Regents or BOD were only involved in hiring, not firing. That was the President and HR.

What does an athletic department runs its self mean?
His direct supervisor is responsible for his evaluation, and if he will be retained or not. That would be the President. I've never heard of Regents having to sign off of a non-renewal. That would be your human resources department. I've worked in college athletics, saw a football coach get fired, and it was the AD's decision with the support of the President. Now BOD or Regents were involved in anyway.

I agree with a lot of what Magnus is saying.
I will say this, that Michigan High School Football is starting to take football more serious. Brother Rice going down to Ohio and beating teams like Pickerington North is a big deal. They beat Clv. St. Iggy too last year I do believe. This is big time. You are starting to see Michigan produce more college players, and more "elite" recruits as well. Southfield last year had two All-American's on one team, this is huge imo for a public in Michigan.
The difference in Ohio and Michigan, is small town football is so much better in Ohio. Little towns across Ohio are very serious in Ohio, like shutdown everyone to the football game on Friday's serious. This just doesn't happen across Michigan yet. I played DIV football in Ohio (Ironton), we had about 900 kids in our school, and my sophomore year we had 7 division one players on that team (three went to majors---Jason Harmon to MSU, Reggie Arden to Ohio State, and Roman Frye to Clemson). Roman Frye would go onto play in the NFL for the Bucks for a season.
I will say that Ohio is very serious about football, and nearly passed a bylaw allowing for spring football practice. I wouldn't lump Ohio and Pennsylvania in the same sentence as other midwest states.
The problem with these "elite" recruits in the midwest, is keeping them home. Think of all the Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania guys who have recently gone to Bama (Trey Depriest, Robert Forster) Texas (Jordan Hicks), USC (Ty Issacs shortly), Florida (Alex Anzalone, Valdez Showers) Ole Miss (Lequan Treadwell), Oregon (Dior Mathis, Jake Fischer, Dwayne Stanford). The list could go on

This is spot on. Brandy is not a play-by-play announcer. His voice, cadence, ability to paint a picture with his words, etc are just not very good. It is a real shame that this program has a play-by-play man who is average at best. Brandy is a fun color man, but Michigan deserves better.

Just curious, why is Funchess going pro again? I think that is a little premature to be making that type of statement.
Who said Chesson has a low cieling? His own coach has talked about how high his cieling is, and he is one of the few that actually stretch the field. We all know he is a devestating blocker, but I think the sky is the limit for him. Lets not forget, he only played two years of high school football coming to UM.

Name a good blocking TE in the past 10 years as a true freshmen. Go back and watch Koger get blown up as an under sized TE his freshmen year. How about funchess? Should I keep going back? I always enjoy, I don't know which game you're watching. Hell, half of this site has no clue what they are looking at, if someone is reach blocking, zone blocking, slide blocking, hooking, releasing, etc. I always enjoy the well Brian puts up his stats, good for Brian, who runs a site, and his many years coaching the sport. Oh, that's right, he hasn't. Anyways, show me a better blocking TE as a true freshmen in the past 10 years as a true freshmen. Good luck.

Aside from breaking that mcgary and gr3 were coming.
Sam Webb is the best source for all things Michigan recruiting. It is not even close. He essentially works with the athletic department, he has access that not a single scout, rivals, or espn source has. If there is some bett than Sam please do tell. Remember half of the information on here is simply regurgitated from other sites.

Lewis and Taylor play on opposite sides of the field.
In pess covage you want Taylor, who is more physical and a stronger player. Blake, unless he is playing zone, is burnt toast a good majority of the time. Go back and watch his picks, he is either in the right place at the right time, see off Taylor's foot v nd, or dropping into zone, see Minnesota. I'd much rather see Blake at nickel, Lewis and Taylor, and if ss is still a question mark you stick peppers there.

Williams had a very promising freshmen season while playing near 285, than dropped to 260ish and got pushed around. I'm not sure why he felt the need to drop that much weight, but I'd like to see him back around 290.

I find it odd that she has darboh starting and he has yet to get any contact or seen any live action coming off an injury. Meanwhile Chesson is the best blocker on the team at wr, the fastest, and showed promise in his first chance to get playing time.
She is simply guessing.
|32 weeks 47 min ago||It looks like scout got it||
It looks like scout got it right and everyone else got it wrong on green. Determining who will be a stud is not an exact science, it basically a guess.
I am more surprised that darboh would be ahead of Chesson, considering he didn't go through any contact drills or get any live scrimmage time.
Lewis and hill both had outstanding springs, and I am not sure how she is making the guess, many lets remember here people she is simply guessing, when the imperial evidence points to something else.
