OK, back to zero - I know I'll get "negged" for this:
We really weren't all that great pre-injuries to Levert & Walton. Too much attrition. Surprisingly, the loss that hurt perhaps the most was Horford transferring!
OFC, Stauskas would be welcome, as would Robinson and McGary.
An idle question: Beilien sends a whole lot of his players to the League - why doesn't he get recruits like Calipari does?

Is anyone really surprised by yet another story featuring the NCAA's monumental stupidity?
|4 weeks 4 days ago||The Terps are definitely a||
The Terps are definitely a good addition for basketball. All the FMs (@#%&* Mormons) would add is a usually ponderous team made up of slow but strong white former missionaries. And in football? Who wants to defend the old triple option all day?
|4 weeks 4 days ago||I was a student here back in||
I was a student here back in '75 & thus got season tickets for next to nothing. Think I haven't gladly paid full price for tickets since then? Oh, well - that's for another thread...
Anyway, I ofc went to the Ohio game - had taken in a gallon milk jug full of beer (you could do that then w/o risking jailtime for being identified as a beer-swilling terrorist.) Thank goodness I had the beer, and had finished it by the 3rd quarter - I sure wouldn't have wanted to have been sober for that 4th quarter!
|10 weeks 11 hours ago||Not to worry||
Beilien & staff will turn this into a positive.
Nevertheless - does anyone here know the lyrics to Wisky's fight song? After the words: "On Wisconsin" ofc.
|13 weeks 4 hours ago||I remember hearing this||
I remember hearing this story about when Bo was recruiting Jimmy - they were sitting in the Harbaughs' family room, watching Monday Night Football. Someone on ABC (Cosell???) said: "no Michigan QB has ever made it to the NFL." Probably contributed to Coach's heart condition...
|16 weeks 6 days ago||you really believe||
that I ever even implied "same?"
Try this rather simplistic exercise:
Q. What is the most likely outcome of punting from their 39?
A. A touchback is by far the likeliest. Ofc, other quite positive things (like them fumbling the punt) COULD happen. Or we could down it inside their 5. Although those things sometimes do happen, they're not very likely.
Q. How long will it take an opp whose offense is "running on all eight" to make up the 19 yards of field position that you just gained?
A. We hadn't gotten a 3 + out for quite awhile, so 4-5 plays AT THE MOST. We might make them punt without giving up a 1st down, though. Making them punt from even their own 20 almost certainly results in losing ground in the field position battle.
Q. What have we gained by punting?
A. Nothing, except maybe running a little time off the clock - which may or may not be a good thing.
Q. So, what do we actually have to lose by going for it?
A. A chance to clap at yet another losing event... HAH!

No doubt that Meyer is a lying prick - a good fit for Ohio. He does, however, seem to know that choosing to punt when you are in the opp's territory is a losing strategy. That eerily summed up the Hoke/Joke era - Hoke punts from their 39, Meyer goes for it from our 45...look what happened. Yes, I realize we had much further to go than Ohio did, but that factor doesn't change the odds there very much. Perhaps one of the stats whizzes around here could demonstrate that fact?
A simpler summation - DG's fumble in the 4th quarter that sealed the game.
You know - I won't miss Brady at all.
There MUST be a Beilien-ish HC candidate out there.

he's not that good.

Cool term, Tater - "Duke Defensive Exemption." Perhaps you could send a little msg to Dickie V. with that phrase in it - see if he'll use it? HAH!
You guys shouldn't complain aboot the refs: they're pretty lousy EVERY game. And if you think this was bad, just wait 'til Big Ten season!
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Truly I say unto you:||
That was a TREMENDOUS journalistic effort on such short notice, Ace. Ofc, we've come to expect that out of you.
Also true: we don't lose that kind of game very often in Big Ten play, and just about never in March!
Chatman looked PDG tonight, as did our stars. The other freshmen - not so much. And our bigs are a bit worrisome, too - slow, stout guys usually don't work out very well as 5's in today's fast-paced game. Unfortunately for us - guys who are stocky & slow in November are still slow & stocky in March.
But: Sweet Sixteen, here we come!!

|18 weeks 1 day ago||"gotta leave 'em laughing"||
Well, at least Brady did that for us. Surely it wasn't just me who had involuntary fits of giggling at times during today's farce. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at Hoke's antics at the end of the half! I wonder if he pondered even for an instant just why his beloved power running was suddenly working?
Another moment of high hilarity came when BTN showed him actually wearing his headset during that pitiful spot review. I wonder what crucial info he received? It apparently was more important to him than, say, hearing from his staff in the press box telling him that perhaps a play-action pass might work...
What an out-of-control tire fire our coaching staff has become! Quite a mitzvah they have performed for the opps' staffs - they must be treated to long stretches of levity when they study our gamefilms.
It's hard for me to believe that Meechigan football has come down to this. I wonder how long it will take the new staff (hopefully this time made up of proven winners!) to turn this mess around?
|18 weeks 4 days ago||Devin will always be one of my favorite Wolverines||
I'll never forget his performance in The Game 2013.
Heck, he almost "Biakabatuka'd" them!!
|19 weeks 15 hours ago||Microwave||
For the last year or so, I've been setting the "time" on my microwave when I heat/reheat something for 11 seconds, or a multiple thereof. He's not just a shooter...let's do everything we can to help Nik.
But recently, I often started setting it for 57 seconds. Sometimes I use 47. But now, I believe I'll stick with basketball numbers.
But what only needs 3 seconds to reheat?

|20 weeks 1 day ago||Ohio||
While I, like just about EVERY other Meechigan fan, will be happy never to see Devin (EITHER Devin) in our used-to-be-lovely uni again, I will also remember DG's performance for the ages last year in The Game.
Also, this notion crossed my mind while I was trying not to cringe too much or giggle uncontrollably while watching that display of total incompetence by both teams, both coaching staffs, and (ofc) the refs:
Perhaps we could do a variation of how Ohio dealt with Fickell's incompetence as HC - hire a proven winner as HC (come on down, J. Harbaugh!!) & retain Hoke as co-DC and d-line coach?
|23 weeks 1 day ago||(SIAP) Michigan man?||
Bo is almost universally known as the quintessential Michigan Man. But think back to1969...was he in ANY manner a MM then?
Sorry - rhetorical question.
The answer, ofc, is NO. He didn't ever take classes here, has no University of Michigan degree (Frieder had 2, BTW,) he never was an asst coach here, & (lthough we cannot be sure of this) - he wasn't even a UM fan!
So, please explain to me - why is being a Michigan Man even a consideration? Heck, DB is one!!
Bo did, however, have the essential qualities of a Michigan Man - even though he was (HORRORS) an Ohio Man. What we absolutely need the new AD to have (sorry OP, it's not even a plausible question - DB is gone. QED. GONE, Finito Benito!) is to be able to recognize a POTENTIAL true Michigan guy.

This game made me feel like I had been transported 10 years or so back in time. It sure looked like Lloydball to me - running it down their throat and otherwise just toying with an overmatched opponent, and not completely putting the game away until the 4th quarter.
Tell me again: why did we despise Lloydball so much?? HEHEHE
|1 year 50 weeks ago||A very perceptive final thought, Ace||
Q. Why did the Orangemen look so inept on offense?
A. Because our super-duper star was totally shutting down the much-heralded Syracuse PG who is VITAL to them in making their offense work.
Without Trey's stellar defensive efforts, no way do we win that game. In fact, when Trey blocked Carter-Williams shot in the 1st minute, I "knew" the game was in the bag - not remembering our big issue with clutch free throw shooting...

the way he has worked so hard getting into better shape & certainly the way he has become a more capable force in the paint.
However, I cannot help but wonder when McGary will replace him in the starting lineup.

ESPN is so charming (/sarcasm)
Yahoo Sports used to run a game using spreads - does anyone know if this still exists?

His Brave bias was hard to listen to, but early on he DID make a funny & insightful comment:
"last year, Michigan's backup point guard was a time-out."

He was a tremendous coach, but we always rooted for him to lose in the tournament so he would become a commentater.
