I hope you're well, Brian…

I hope you're well, Brian. You have shared much of your own personal turmoils on this page over the years. The game of ball cannot cure the ills that plague us in the real world, but they can often paper them over and provide the needed escape. I hope tonight was cathartic for you.

And the rest, as well. God bless each of your cotton pickin' Maize and Blue hearts.

Go Blue.

Sooner or later, most of us reach a point where the falcon can no longer hear the falconer.

I wish you good health, Brian. Be well.

Heh, I was wondering if this…

Heh, I was wondering if this would make it over here.

It took me about an hour to throw that together yesterday; it was only a rough first draft, but I'm glad it's managed to make the rounds on various Michigan boards. Glad you guys like it.

This has been a standard

This has been a standard go-to response by Brandon toward frustrated emailers over the last year or so. It isn't fake, it isn't a fraud, and yes, he is stupid enough to "go on record" with responses like this. "Lowlife and unprofessional" is the lunatic in charge of Michigan's athletic department.

Oh, I'm sure it is.

Oh, I'm sure it is.

FWIW, the coach in charge of recruiting at Sheldon Day's high school (Warren Central in Indianapolis) is a hardcore Michigan hater. As in, the "herp derp lol scUM meatchicken" Ohio State fan on Bucknuts kind of Michigan hater. He routinely ran interference during Michigan's dalliance with Day.

Michigan was not an option

Michigan was not an option for Dior when he picked Oregon, so he didn't pick them over us. RR and Gibson liked him better as a slot.

He seems set on taking

He seems set on taking officials to all three schools, and he said yesterday that he might not be able to do so during the fall because Bergen Catholic plays a lot of games on Saturdays. So this one could very well go into December or January (which would be just fine for us, since Hand and McDowell will likely be off the board one way or another by then), and we'll have a better idea of what the numbers look like.

Dickerson himself said his

Dickerson himself said his final three is in order: Stanford first, Michigan second, Northwestern third.

After Bunting committed,

After Bunting committed, Michigan told Dickerson they would continue to recruit him exclusively at DE now. Although if U-M lands Hand and McDowell and still wants Dickerson (and Dickerson decides he wants U-M), I imagine they'd bring him in as an "athlete" and find a spot for him, either at DE or TE.

Confirmed by Rivals. Family situation came up, but it's been resolved. Visits are a go.

The general feeling is

The general feeling is mentioning the words "offensive line" to McDowell is a good way to get your school dropped from consideration.

FWIW, Finley wasn't actually

FWIW, Finley wasn't actually offered. Michigan called him and asked if he had any interest in possibly setting up a visit; he said no. The recruiting sites ran with that info as "Michigan offers Finley, Finley sticks with MSU."

Not bad, gentlemen. Not bad

Not bad, gentlemen. Not bad at all.

I'm sorry. I didn't see that post and discussion when it was made. I didn't avoid it; I just didn't see it.

And I'm sorry if I've said things on my blog that anger you, or others. I'm opinionated, and often times I come across as a jerk (to put it lightly), but honestly, I'm past the point of putting much value in what strangers on the internet think of me. That's not me being an ass, or trying to insult you or anyone else. I just have more important things to worry about in my life. I've been battling clinical depression for basically six months now. Things began to crater for me in the latter third of last season. My disappearance here and erratic blogging had nothing to do with suddenly not wanting to say anything because UM was struggling. It had everything to do with *me* struggling. I spent a week in the hospital in late February and early March. Everyday now is a constant struggle. When I finally get the strength to get out of bed, I look myself in the mirror and wonder if I'll have the strength to be here tomorrow. So I'm sorry I've upset you and others with things I've said, and my apparent ducking of people calling me out. I'm just trying to do my best each day, and I'm trying to do things I enjoy.

Not a chance. Ross has a spot saved for him until he's ready to commit.

Huh...you know what else the

Huh...you know what else the future would be with Harbaugh?

Beating mediocre teams 38-0 while blocking punts and making field goals and forcing 5 turnovers while committing none instead of winning 67-65 with 5 turnovers and no special teams whatsoever.

Woe is us if that's our future...

This is so far offbase. MSU

This is so far offbase. MSU and OSU fans are not encouraging UM to fire RR because they fear him. If they're encouraging UM to fire him it's because firing a coach and hiring a new one is a volatile process and the odds of them pulling even further ahead of us increase (in their eyes).

MSU and OSU fans do not fear Rodriguez, believe me. And to date, they have no reason to.

Haven't heard anything like

Haven't heard anything like that from Cooper.

Haven't heard anything on Johnson period, because barring some sort of major upset, he won't be coming here.

Damon Knox.

And he's not going to make it.

Michigan could be the new leader for cornerback Blake Countess from Maryland

Nope, he's Green all the way.

Nope, he's Green all the way. Unfortunately, I can't blame him at the moment, either.

Yeah, I removed any link to

Yeah, I removed any link to the video because it started popping up virus warnings on people's computers, apparently.

Yes, they were the same

Yes, they were the same coaches. The thing that changed is Michigan's (and Michigan State's) coaching staff.

Yes.

Yes.

Just FYI, we're probably 5th

Just FYI, we're probably 5th out of those 5 teams.

Combination of both. UM

Combination of both. UM really liked him, but as things have progressed,

a) he visited Wisconsin and really liked it;

b) Michigan's focus has shifted almost exclusively toward defense, and...

c) with B in mind, the wisdom of taking a good-not-great possession WR decreased.

UM may have "cooled" on him, but it was convenient for all sides. Wisconsin pulled ahead, and UM decided not to put up a major fight. If we take another WR, it'll be Watkins.

Badger.

Badger.

I heard he's transferring to

I heard he's transferring to Eleven Warriors, said something about the family values going down the drain around here.

"My own superiority over

"My own superiority over everyone"? When was the last time I participated in any sort of debate or argument here?

So I come across as overbearing. My bad. Nowhere did I imply that the guy who disagreed with me was an idiot. Since you are obviously familiar with me and the way I apparently go about things, you'd know that if I think someone's an idiot, I'm going to tell them.

There are two sides to the debate here, and we obviously don't fall on the same one. IPFW thinks Shafer was largely at fault for what happened in 2008; I think it was more like Shafer wasn't allowed to run the type of defense he wanted to because he didn't mesh with RR and RR's assistants on the defensive side of the ball. If you disagree with me, that's fine. There's no "proof" either way, other than largely subjective numbers, like Shafer's defenses at Western Michigan and Stanford being blitz-mad sack machines, as opposed to the soft, tissue paper monstrosity that took the field for Michigan in 2008. If he was such a terrible coordinator, why is it only here that he failed? Why is Syracuse suddenly decent on defense? I've spoken to more than one Syracuse fan. They rave about the guy. So why didn't he work out here? If he was so terrible, why have things not gotten even a LITTLE better in the almost two years he's been gone?

There isn't one single redeeming quality about this defense. In my opinion (oh, and I'm freely admitting right here that it's my OPINION and absolutely can be wrong), there are really only two explanations. Either RR has swung and missed horribly on TWO defensive coordinator hires, or he has restricted and handcuffed both his coordinators and forced them into running schemes they don't want to run. When you consider that every single person even remotely considered an "insider" will tell you that Shafer was essentially removed from the decision-making process prior to the abortion that was the 2008 Purdue game, it's clear, to me anyway, what the problem is.

Rich inherited a flawed product. But with every second that passes, the opportunity to blame Lloyd Carr's recruiting deficiencies for this mess gets smaller and smaller. It's not Lloyd Carr's fault that after two and a half years we apparently don't have anybody to replace Obi Ezeh. It's not Lloyd Carr's fault that these players can't tackle, can't contain, can't shed blocks, can't play assignment football, and get generally manhandled by any physical front they face. Eventually it's time to own up. Scott Shafer's career as a defensive coordinator has been pretty damn successful at every place but one. Greg Robinson has two Super Bowl rings as a defensive coordinator in the NFL.

And I don't appreciate you pigeon-holing me with that "Rodriguez should be fired" bullshit. Nowhere did I even come close to saying that. And as for "inserting the same opinion into every discussion", like I said, when was the last time I even participated in one here? I've been a ghost for months here. I pop in on recruiting discussions every now and then, that's basically it. But nowhere did I say that our head coach should be fired. I'm frustrated. My patience now is thinner than it was when I woke up on Saturday. But not here, nor on my own blog, have I said I want a new coach. I've voiced my opinion on what I think is GOING to happen, but never have I said what I want to happen.

If it's not clear to you by

If it's not clear to you by now, it never will be.

If you've paid any attention whatsoever, you'd know what the underlying problem was. Everyone threw Shafer under the bus in 2008, just like everyone's throwing Robinson under the bus now. There's a common denominator. Meanwhile Syracuse is now 15th nationally in total defense.

Gee, I wonder what's different...

The debate as to who's

The debate as to who's responsible for the 2008 fiasco isn't a debate at all. It's clear where the blame lies.

Ross has a verbal offer. RJS

Ross has a verbal offer. RJS and Richardson, not yet.

More than that. It was

More than that. It was mentioned on Scout last week or so that Michigan's keeping an eye on Darryl Monroe too (6'1, 215-pound LB, currently committed to Washington State).

I spoke to an Alabama fan

I spoke to an Alabama fan with access to all the usual stuff on their end (Rivals, Scout, etc). He told me the general feeling on their end is Dee's visit is more of a formality than anything. The general "you never know what can happen on a visit" disclaimer applies, but Alabama is much more focused on Isiah Crowell out of Georgia.

That combined with the hype of the Auburn visit being overblown, and I fully expect Dee to be a Michigan commitment a week from now.

Danny O'Brien is in again,

Danny O'Brien is in again, the 2012 Cass Tech kids (RJS and Richardson), and 2012 Ohio DB Allen Gant.

One of the worst

One of the worst misconceptions I've heard. ND did not "throw jump ball after jump ball" at Cissoko. They beat him because his technique was awful and he couldn't tackle as a result of a shoulder injury. The jump ball they scored on with Floyd was against Warren.

Contrary to the disgustingly popular belief, essentially none of Cissoko's problems were related to his size. They were related to his injury, his bad fundamentals, and the fact that he was spiraling out of control. Never were they because he was undersized.

Also, in regards to Michigan

Also, in regards to Michigan not offering Richardson yet, it's been mentioned before: He hasn't actually performed at a UM camp. He's shown up in a t-shirt and shorts and hung out, but hasn't actually put on the helmet and pads for the coaches yet.

Didn't stop MSU from offering

Didn't stop MSU from offering and heavily pursuing Dior Mathis...

Can't recall anybody ever

Can't recall anybody ever committing to a place that was just 7 out of 10.

Get him back up here for the MSU game (is that still in the works?), and it's over.
