I think "demise" is a bit hyperbolic, unless you mean "falling from assumed favorite to just a strong contender for the conference championship". Sure, it was a relatively rough season, but they're still the second-winningest team in the conference over the last 3 seasons.
What struck me is that there is clearly a top tier of 4 teams over the last 3 seasons - Michigan, msu, osu, and Wisconsin. Indiana lacks consistency in a major way, Iowa is somewhere in the middle, and the rest are various shades of mediocre-at-best.

KISS has always been about being outrageous. This accomplishes that. I don't see what the big deal is. Great publicity for the team. People will go to the games because 1) it's cheap, 2) they love KISS (the band), 3) they love the unis, 4) they hate the unis and just want to see if they're as bad in real life, and 5) it's a novelty with a limited shelf life (most probably)

It's because they played a marginally tougher schedule and, despite a couple worse losses, also have a few better wins according to the RPI. Dook's 5 best wins are against RPI 10, 11, 12, 20, and 25. Michigan's 5 best wins are against RPI 6, 22, 22, 23, and 35.
There isn't much separating Michigan and Duke (and UVA, Cincy, SDSU, Iowa State, Cuse, and Creighton) for that matter. Home team bias will always say, "My team is better than that other crappy team," but no point getting all worked up over it.

Doesn't mean it's not a concept. Dumb concept, maybe, but a concept nonetheless.

Was confused until I saw that the sbnation URL referenced CFB. Then I was all like, "I'm not dumb, the OP just stinks at titling threads!" :P

I'll agree with you about Irvin, Robinson, McGary, and Harris, but Albrecht wasn't on ANYONE'S radar. He had one actual offer - Appalachian State - and according to articles, only smaller mid-majors were even talking to him. IU and PU were not looking at Spike.

By the time I got to campus, it was just Jimmy King and Ray Jackson left. Even as the least heralded members of the Fab Five, I was amazed at how good they were, and how much more fun to watch than the other players on the team. I have a soft spot for Ray Jackson, in particular.

Crisler > Breslin. I know this how? Because the Sports Illustrated Kids "Top 10 in Everything Sports" features the Maize Rage as one of the top 10 fanbases across all sports, ahead of even the Izzone and Cameron Crazies, neither of which are on the list. Irrefutable and undisputable proof that Crisler has a better atmosphere than Breslin.
(and yes, I hang out in the B&N kids book section with my daughters)

Have you and GRBlue been to a similar number of games against middling teams at Breslin?

football is obviously not a sport, as it requires "judges" and "referees" to make "judgements" about whether a play is valid or not, often based on arcane and non-sensical rules. Ditto basketball and baseball and hockey and soccer. A strike is a strike is a strike, unless it's called a ball. It's a fumble unless it's not. The only REAL sports are races and track events (and I'm sure some others I've forgotten about which are as black/white as you can get).

Georgia for me, also. But I actually know why. I was born and raised in Atlanta and during my formative years was when Vince Dooley reigned supreme and Herschel Walker was winning the Heisman and Georgia was one of the top programs in the country.
My older daughter was born in Atlanta and lived there all of 20 months before we moved to Chicago, but she still identifies herself as from Georgia and wants to do gymnastics one day for the Lady Dawgs. She prefers the Braves over the Cubs/Sox, and UGA over UM :(

Also, nothing new here. Another guy saying (rightly so) that there are now more questions than answers that need to be brought to light.

|6 weeks 1 day ago||I could get on board with||
I could get on board with that. I really feel like Michigan may start the first few minutes slowly, but then just dominate most of the rest of the game. 17 points feels like a good winning margin, with the game never in doubt.
As long as we don't pull an Iowa and go on a 15 minute FG scoring drought. Ouch.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||I feel like we sports fans||
I feel like we sports fans have this discussion every season. It's too early for the players and coaches to care. They're the ones that have to take things one game at a time. It's never too early for fans to talk. It has precious little impact on anything what Lunardi or other bracketologists or fans think and discuss. I'm going to dream big. I'm not going to not think about our potential seeding because it's still only January. It's my right and prerogative as a fan.
And sure, it's too soon to have 2014 football rankings, but so what? It's fun.
