You don't get those 35 points. The hypothetical total is a sum of 1 to 35. At the end of bowl season, the person with all of those total points wins.

Oh I KNOW that Tahj Boyd will light up the Ohio State secondary. The difference is the run game - running helps control the clock and is generally has less variance than passing. As Ohio's offense is pretty stably built on running the ball, I have no doubt that they will be able to control the ball effectively and limit the opportunities for Boyd to torch them.

I will eat a steaming pile of dog shit if Ohio loses to Clemson. This will also happen if Minnesota doesn't beat Syracuse by at least 30. This will also happen if MSU doesn't score at least 28 on Stanford. Bring it on!

I will be upvoting each one of these. Sheer brilliance.

Ehh Michigan was mediocre, but we definitely have the talent to be considered "good" while KSU really doesn't have that talent. Doesn't mean that they're a pushover - they'll be tough to play - but we definitely have a good shot of winning that one.
Clemson will score on Ohio State, yes, but the matchup of Ohio's D-line to Clemson's O-line and Clemson's D-line to Ohio's O-line favors Ohio State and they tend to have a run-the-ball control-the-clock strategy which tends to work against teams with bad defenses.
Michigan State has had good Connor Cook show up in every game since the Purdue game. I think bad Connor Cook is pretty much safely gone now.
I don't quite see how next year's scenario is wildly optimistic - basically I'm saying that Wisconsin, Ohio, MSU all get marginally better, that we take a step forward, and that Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska regain form. I meant Big 10 title discussion, not national title discussion, btw. It seems perfectly reasonable that next year is a slightly improved conference from this year.
|3 days 23 hours ago||I think Minnesota (Run over a||
I think Minnesota (Run over a weak defense), Wisconsin (Good offensive line to neutralize S. Car's strength), Michigan (Kansas State is entirely mediocre), and Ohio State (Will score on Clemson easily) got favorable matchups, Michigan State (Stanford's tight ends are really athletic) and Nebraska (Defense needs to improve) got slightly negative matchups, and Iowa got screwed. Overall, the conference record should be hopefully be 4-3 with a BCS win which is pretty respectable. Next year is the year when things get interesting, though, with Wisconsin, Michigan (please), Michigan State, and Ohio State all in the title mix and Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska as good but not great teams.

Minnesota is going to run over Syracuse... Syracuse is a terrible team and Minnesota is only going to get better. I'm surprised you have Rice beating Mississippi state. Wisconsin will beat South Carolina, but Iowa and Nebraska will lose. I think Sparty wins their elusive Rose Bowl - Stanford's offense is pretty conventional and Michigan State is built to stop it. Carlos Hyde definitely had a good game against State, but Stanford doesn't have anyone as good as Hyde and their O-line is not as experienced as Ohio's.

How is texas/baylor only 3 - 3 at halftime? What vortex did we enter where a Big 12 game featuring Greg Robinson and Baylor's defense could every be low scoring?

Just think of it from his perspective... It's selfish to want this young kid to commit to 4 years of living in cold, dreary Ann Arbor when its clear that his career would likely not have any Big 10 or national championships. On the other hand, Alabama has been continually dominant and you'd be playing with the best players in the country on that team. They've had guys go to the NFL from their starting secondary every year for the past 4 years. They also have academics that fit in with the football program. The cherry on top - it never gets that cold down there in Tuscaloosa. He's probably just realizing that committing to Michigan so early in the year was a bad decision, as any talk of winning championships was definitely premature. The Crawford situation is pretty similar.... Ohio State continually has players placed high in the NFL and wins championships. I wouldn't blame them for switching!

Yeah cuz the SEC and PAC 12 always hire the best coaches. Kiffin, graham, leach, Bielema, jones, John L, Muschamp, Freeze, etc.

Not only all of this, but people are forgetting that Mizzou did not blow Indiana out by any means... In fact, Wisconsin and Ohio smothered Indiana far more than Mizzou could.
Nobody doubts that the top 2-3 teams in the SEC are usually very very good and among the best. In fact, the top team in the SEC is usually the best. But it's just simply not true that teams like Tennessee or Florida or Arkansas can hang with the likes of Michigan State, Ohio, or Wisconsin (at least, this year). In the previous 3 years, that might have been the case, but there's been enough coaching stability for the past 2 years that this year and probably next year will be significant improvements.

If Michigan state and Ohio play each other closely, Auburn might jump Ohio due to the coaches poll, I feel. This is the scenario where Ohio plays in the rose bowl against Arizona State, MSU plays UCF (lol) in the orange - I feel like this would give us the best chance for a great B1G bowl showing while still denying Sparty their rose bowl and keeping Ohio out of the MNC game. Wisconsin has a great chance to beat S. Carolina, and Michigan has a great chance to beat Georgia. Couple this with Minn vs BC and Nebraska v Kansas State, and we could be looking at a great Big 10 bowl record. Probably the first time in the last 4 years that we would all get fair matchups.

Not really. When Devin's on, he's really on and you should into account how much our offense was boosted by his presence. When Devin plays at his best, I'd put him in the top group of QBs in the country, definitely.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||You fools this is not a||
You fools this is not a question of "Manball sucks" vs. "Shred is awesome". There is no such thing. Spread offenses do tend to work better when the talent is lacking, but Pro offenses work extremely well when the talent is there (see the NFL). "Manball" in my opinion is the act of taking 9 scholarship OL players and telling them to mash Louis Nix and Noah Spence because they need to, instead of adapting to younger players until they get older. There's some hubris associated with the term.
If we're going to fire Borges, I hope we get an O-coordinator that runs a pro-style offense. You know, a REAL pro-style offense. The one where there are 3-step drops and quick slants and bubble screens and, yes, Power A.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||I think it's entirely||
I think it's entirely possible we could give up 25+ TFLs in the game. Probably about 15 runs and 10 sacks? Would that be enough for a single game record of tackles for loss given?

Lion's offensive line is the problem... Stafford was running for his life the whole game from Adrian Clayborn.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I think the line showed||
I think the line showed definite improvement last week with the change in blocking scheme to extended doubles of the defensive tackles - I expect that we will get decent rushing yardage but no huge plays in the run game. Iowa is going to blitz, which is against what they normally do - this should leave the TEs open so it's up to Gardner to be looking for Butt on every play.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||No, the big 10 needs||
No, the big 10 needs *consistent* coaching. Arkansas, Tennessee, and Florida can spend all the money they want for Bret Bielema, Butch Jones, and Muschamp. They all got terrible coaches, though.

100% failure of zone stretch, the worst play ever. It kills drives and always results in a tackle for loss. I hate it.

I don't think you watched the USC-ND game... After ND got a lead, they went into a shell to prevent Tommy Turnover from doing his thing... USC's offense was *completely* stalled by the ND defense. The game was decided at the half.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Man, the play calling was||
Man, the play calling was definitely better against Northwestern, but still not nearly where we need to be. The three-step routes were, from what I recall, a lot of 10 yard curls and 5 yard outs and with Gardner not having enough time to move away from his first read, those are very dangerous as evidenced by the numerous almost-interceptions. If we don't at least threaten the bubble a couple times like against Northwestern, I don't see that inside zone play getting anything against this Iowa defense.
But then again, if the OL as a whole improves their execution some more, I think we'll see Gardner get comfortable again regardless of the play calling. Add on Gallon catching the damn ball and we'll generate SOME offense... enough to win.

Minnesota does deserve to be ranked, but they are not going to have a good time in the coming weeks. On the other hand, Wisconsin is probably an overall better team than Michigan State and deserves to be ranked higher. Still, an MSU v Ohio matchup would be interesting as Ohio's offense has not been as good against teams with medium quality defenses (Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Iowa) and a great defense like MSU's would pose a problem.

Zone blocking was very effective! But please for the love of god get rid of the zone stretch... It worked with Green for one his longer runs, but it leads to TFLs more commonly.

There is no question who the second best team in the conference is. It's Wisconsin. They are firing on all cylinders right now and aside from one bad game (@Ohio) they've looked impressive all season. It may be a Wisconsin Auburn matchup in the Sugar Bowl and that would definitely be fun to watch and there's a reasonable chance that Wisconsin could pull it off.
