I watched the Bowling Green - WMU game and realized that 2 of our 3 non conference opponents will be in bowl games, BGSU at 7-5 and UNLV atop the Mountain West. Schedule looks better in retrospect.
Also Timber Ridge near East Lansing. Pilgrims Run is great, and there are 2 others nearby by the same designer: The Mines and Diamond Springs. I’m gonna quit now, that’s enough.
For a theme, maybe play some university courses: the UM course is outstanding, MSU Akers West is very good and Akers East is fun, EMU is very good, the Meadows at Grand Valley is always in excellent shape, Katke at Ferris is good.
I second the Gull Lake View recommendation. Others that are fun and not a long drive up north are Eagle Eye and Hawk Hollow, Calderone Farms, The Grande, Quail Ridge, The Ravines, Tullymore/St. Ives, Bucks Run, The Medalist, The Majestic, Moose Ridge.
Another theme would be nice muni courses: Leslie Park is really good, Kaufman in GR is one of my faves, Binder Park in Battle Creek is very good, Groesbeck in Lansing and Milham Park in Kazoo are decent, and the oldest public course west of New York is Ottawa Park in Toledo, which is a blast.

Lived there 1976-78. On football Saturdays we emptied our small parking lot, sold the spots, and used the proceeds for a keg for the evening.
I blame college football in general. With weddings getting scheduled farther and farther in advance, college football has not adapted. They need to put out schedules, with game times, at least 2 years in advance, preferably 3. That way, I can notify everyone who might conceivably invite me to a wedding (thankfully, fewer and fewer as I get old) so they can avoid any conflict with a game I want to watch or attend. Ideally, I could also notify everyone who might have a funeral I should attend (sadly, more and more as I get old).
Umm, this is a no-brainer if anywhere Idlewild - JONES HOMEMADE ICE CREAM PARLOR in Baldwin. I think it’s been there since Idlewild was a going concern.
I also think this was the place I ever noticed a Black person, when I was 2 or 3 years old in probably 1959 or 1960. But I do misremember on occasion.
Please refrain from this type of post. These are amateurs who are students at our university and, in most cases, are paying a substantial portion of their educational costs in order to play a game. Let’s support their efforts instead of denigrating their results. Go Blue! Get ‘em next time.
