Porkey’s in Sebewaing.
Spent a few summers with my grandparents at the cottage. Grandpa would wake us up early to have breakfast with the sugarbeet farmers before heading out to catch our walleye limit.

The best of times and a damn good breakfast.

Same here. I can't smell…

Same here. I can't smell certain things (like coffee) since having COVID in February 2021. Some things have a metallic smell and sometimes metallic taste (bagged salad, Sprite). Very strange.

I really hope Rounds 1 AND 2…

I really hope Rounds 1 AND 2 get home games.

It'll be interesting how fans travel to 3 neutral sites on the road to a championship.

My last game was in 2016,…

My last game was in 2016, also against Illinois, someone was kind enough to post a pregame itinerary that included watching the drumline and tips for where to walk around. If anyone has suggestions for us flying in from the west coast, it would be very much appreciated.

Me too! Taking my son and…

Me too! Taking my son and meeting my dad who’s flying in from Arizona . We’re in Section 44, row 11.
Hopefully our redeye gets in on time Saturday morning.

A quick check, I found it's…

A quick check of SoCal schools, I found it's also not accurate. Corona Centennial has 2 players (Camryn Bynum from the Vikings and JJ Taylor from the Patriots) listed under Compton Centennial.

Since this began in March,…

Since this began in March, as a family we’ve spent ‘happy hour’ going through tournament brackets of bands to decide (family votes) the band’s best song, or our favorite song.
Started with The Head and the Heart, then Dave Matthews Band, finished Twenty One Pilots, and beginning the Beatles bracket tonight. It’s been a lot of fun.
For DMB I created the field of 64 songs on a blank bracket and sent it to some buddies who did it with their families too.
My son made the TOP bracket with 32 songs.

There are a lot of Beatles 64 song brackets already available online. Looking forward to it.

Dumb & Dumber

Austin Powers

Nutty Professor

Hi Times?

Might be too far to travel, but have you tried Hi Time Wine Cellar in Costa Mesa? They always seem to have the biggest Bells selection out here. My second suggestion would be El Cerrito Liquor in Corona. Good luck!

Ohio State too Urban pulled a 5 Star o lineman from Bosco last year and have a commitment from their 18 stud DB.

Fwiw, Bosco just lost their offensive coordinator yesterday, he is the new Mission Viejo head coach.
I like something from Columbus I really like Twenty One Pilots and they're from Columbus. Pearl Jam > Nirvana
Tremendous work

That was fantastic!

I'll be there next week with my son (his 1st Michigan game), and my dad. I haven't been to a home game in 12 years. So pumped.

I just booked flights (from I just booked flights (from California) and hotel for 3 of us to go to the Illinois game. I was going to ask the same question.
Should I wait to buy tickets?

Centennial

I follow the Centennial Huskies pretty closely and have a few friends on staff there.

They are loaded, again. Face a brutal schedule, again.

Tyler Lyle

My wife and I are big fans of Tyler Lyle.

Not sure if he's "new" but Sturgill Simpson gets a lot of play too.

Gentleman's Agreement

Ash had Urb pinky swear that he wouldn't recruit the Garden State.

There was a script with the There was a script with the Rich Rod staff that had me rolling until I wondered if it was real conversation.

Weber

Weber for sure. I spent $400ish on mine 4 years ago and it has been awesome. Consistant heat every time.

My last grill was a fancier Home Depot grill for a similar price (side burner, rotisseire...) and it was crap.

Weber every time.

It's mine, man

The obsession with what I put on my weiner and in my mouth is creepy.

I'll go to the Hot Dog Shoppe for lunch, order a bacon wrapped, peanut butter & jelly dog with jalapenos, and he'll turn to the grill guy and say, "we need a #14." Mention ketchup and it's ANGER from like 2 people who think they know what the majority of the country hasn't figured out. I've never understood it.

Mustard guy? The 'no ketchup on a dog' group is so loud and angry. They're like the little brother of condiment consumption.
Never understood why the care about my hot dog & taste buds so much.

F them. I'll put ketchup on my dog AND dip it in more. Then smother it on my brat.
A few

A few my daughter loves:

Pinkalicious series

Big Words by Jamie Lee Curtis

The Day the Crayons Quit

Fancy Nany series

She digs Curious George too. Have fun!

Dairy Barn

The Monster Burger with cheese from the Dairy Barn in Sebewaing tops my list.

I spit water

"Ermahgerd Wer Fer" made me spit water on the counter. Hilarous.

A neighbor goes with "Trojan Virus."

Top 25

So we've hired the head coaches of 2 top 25 teams in the nation, year in and year out. According to Calpreps.com, last year St. Edwards finished #3, and Paramus, #24.

http://calpreps.com/2014/ratings/National_all25.htm

And Adoree Adoree Jackson was the latest star from Serra.
By the way, I know it's official name, but I've never heard Gardena Serra called "junipero " Serra.
I don't want anyone on here sounding like a tourist!
Great Diary

I totally relate to a lot of this. Thank you for posting!

I too have an obsession with the school I never attended and a connection to a town I've been to only a handful of times. I rarely post because I feel those "more connected" should be doing that.

It's hard to explain to people how going to the Big House at the age of 5 will shape a kid's fandom. It's also hard to explain that despite going to Arizona State, I've been to more Michigan games than Sun Devil games. So I wear Michigan gear, win or lose, but hate the enivitable quesion, "Did you go to Michigan?" Thanks again for posting. Go Blue!

Ties I love that the possible guys bring strong ties from Florida and California. Mattison seems to have great ins with Ohio.
Their ears were wringing! I'm in AZ and literally, 20 minutes ago said I wish I could get Bells at home. Thank you sweet baby Jesus!
O Lu Word is O Lu plays Corona Centennial Saturday at noon.
Urbz

The biggest surprise to me is that Urbz didn't convince him to still list Michigan as a contender.

What's under there?

Is Urbz wearing some strange undergarmet like Uncle Eddie at Christmas time?

Pac12 Guys

Jim Mora Jr.

Mike Riley

Shaw

Peterson

Best of luck, Cody

Cody was a former student of mine. Wish him all the best. Congrats Cody and Go Blue!

Just the scouts

So Saban was ok with the first team O putting his scout team D in harms way? Got it.

HaHa $

That's the cabbage he got from HaHa.

4 Peaks

My favorite brewery. Locations in Tempe and Scottsdale.

Silver Lining?

I'm thankful the conference will be realigned. The thought of the 2 point play not mattering because Michigan / Ohio St. II in Indy this week would suck. So would Auburn playing Bama again Saturday in Atlanta.

Hadn't thought about it til now. Thank you Brian for pointing it out.

1. Sumlin

I've heard Sumlin is their top choice. 2nd was Jack Del Rio.

Another guy high on the list was the Clemson OC (but that was before the FSU thrashing).

For my $, I think Mike Tomlin would make the worlds best college coach. I don't think he's close to leaving Pittsburgh, but I think he'd be amazing in the college ranks.

Just Pop Warner? Is this just Pop or all youth football? I know club youth football has become more popular the past few years in SoCal.
"Quit Wasting Downs!"

So true.

I said the same thing in OT vs. PSU. Just attempt the damn FG on first down if you have no intention of moving the ball. Why risk a turnover? It's not like the clock mattered at that point.

I too am involved with HS football. Our OC seems so much more advanced as a gameplanner and game caller/adjuster than Borges. It's embarrassing.

Ultimate 300

I love the idea of comparing kids from different classes. I wish, instead of projecting '16 kids they'd compare '13, '14 & '15 kids.

Thumbs up I love it. Also got several texts from non-Michigan fans saying how cool it was to have a qb rocking a 98 jersey.
Urbz

Reading about Urban trying to become a good father and family man reminds me of Dexter Morgan trying not to be a serial killer.

So a Christian... So a Christian, a racist and a murderer walk into a bar...

That's the Facebook post I saw. I can't take credit.
Frita Batidos!

California resident here; I drove through Ann Arbor last week on my way to Glen Arbor for a family reunion. I was so impressed with Frita Batidos we hit it on the way back too. I had the chirizo frita round 1 and the fish the second time both with tropical slaw. Oberon to wash it down. Seriously one of my favorite lunch stops.

Beer then vino Now, 4 Peaks Kilt Lifter I brought back from Arizona.
Seghesio 2009 old vine zin with dinner.
Taylor Martinez

Taylor Martinez went there too. As did several other studs.

They play Su'a Cravens' Vista Murieta team in the CIF finals Friday.

The 2008 Martinez qb'd team beat De La Salle to win the State Championship.

That's a fantasy owner's

That's a fantasy owner's nightmare. Kidding.

Awesome act of class and sportsmanship. It can't ever be a good time to say goodbye to your dad, but it's gotta be very tough dealing with that while in high school. Sorry to hear that.

Rule change

I put in a new rule this year for my work league. If you beat someone by 50 pts. you get to rename their team for the upcoming week. We'll see how that goes...

I've used

a few with moderate success:

Ultimate Daydrinkers

Tremendous Upside

Tremendous Backside (the next year)

Balls Models

This year I think I'm just going with "Heisenberg" or the "Pinkmans"
