Either a true 16 team playoff with all conference champions included or elimination of playoffs and a return to pre BCS/Bowl Alliance new years day bowl game matchups.

You aren't taking into account the NFL's blackout rules. NFL owners are incentivized to have smaller (around 60K) stadiums because they need to sell out in order to appear on TV where the real money is made. College stadiums do not have this constraint so they are free to expand as much as they like.

Nothing is going to happen unless average attendance drops below capacity for the season.
The demand that has been falling was excess demand and the AD has been raising prices to reach equillibrium which is a rational thing to do.

It's high school economics. When supply is fixed demand drives price changes. MLS is more affordable than other major sporting events because their demand is so much lower. Until the demand for Michigan football tickets drops off the Athletic Department will continue to raise ticket prices, PSL included.

I'm not that impressed with the attendance numbers for Sporting KC. They were filling their minor league baseball stadium to 99% capacity and then built a larger soccer specific stadium and filled it to 99% capacity. Then during the year they won the MLS it was over capacity. I mean everyone loves a winner.
Unfortunately the econmies of scale are so vastly different between MLS and BCS level college football that I don't think anything is relatable. A 500 person supporters group can make an impact when there are only 15k - 20k peple at an event. 500 people in a crowd of 110K is a rounding error.
Michigan doesn't have an attendance issue. An enthusiastic and organized crowd is a different story.

I think DB has a pretty good track record so far. I can only think of one critique I have of him. The decision to move away from General Admission to this new "Super Fan" seating policy was reactionary. He should have made the change to GA and stuck with it.

Did the Ghana goalkeeper not catch that ball because the last player to touch it was a Ghana defender who "intentionally" headed it skywards (possibly a failed clearance). If the keeper had caugh it wouldn't that have been in violation of the back-pass rule and a penalty awarded to Portugual?

I would say that it is because we had to bail them out of 2 world wars (well not so much WWI) and they don't embrace us. When we lost our fathers and grandfathers to German bullets liberating French soil and they won't support our causes on an international level it shows ingratefulness.
That and it seems every 30 years or so they have some social upheaval, change their constitution, and re emerge as the # french republic. I think they are on 5 right now, throw in some periods of empire with napolean for good measure too. America got it right the first time (Well second if you include the articles of confederation).

These guys have to know that cameras are always on them. How in any way can he think I'll bit this guy and act like he shouldered/elbowed me in the mouth and expect to get away with it. The Italian player didn't need to roll around on the ground for so long but I guess that is the only way to get the refs attention.

I'm well aware of the NLRB ruling and addressed it in my previous post. Did you know it only applies to Private Schools not Public Schools? Also did you know it is being appealed?
This is a discussion about how to increase compensation. I've laid out one method to do so that is practical and can't be opposed by people standing on the "principle" that NCAA athletes shouldn't be paid. Slap another $415 bucks into each scholarship athletes housing check each month and voila you have successfully increased their compensation by 5K without upsetting the purists.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Your making a false analogy.||
Your making a false analogy. College Athletes and their relationship with University Athletic Departments (aside from one NLRB ruling currently under appeal) are not akin to the private sector employee/employer model.
If you want to give football/basketball players more money the best avenue is to advocate for the increase in housing stipends. This will be applied to all College Athletes equally. If you want to give more money to football/basketball players simply because they are football/basketball players then you will have a whole host of Title IX issues.
Personally I'm a fan of allowing all college athletes to own and sell their likeness as they please but put the profits into a trust fund that can't be accessed until they either graduate or are professionally contracted in their sport.

They already get 24K a year in housing stipends. If you want your argument to be better received you should say that they need an extra $5,000/12 = $416.67 per month to cover the rising costs of campus housing. Just saying we should give them five grand because they are basketball/football players and those are the most popular sports is not enough.

I think we should have "let" Lloyd retire after 2005 and gone after Dantonio then. A former OSU assistant did wonders for this program in the '70s and I imagine Dantonio would have done the same for Michigan in the late '00s early '10s

The braves just use a tomahawk as their icon. I don't think that is disparaging.
FSU has the consent of the Florida Seminole tribe to continue using it as thier mascot. The NCAA is big on its members getting permission from local tribes to continue to use tribal mascots. CMU has permission from the Saginaw Valley Chippewa tribe and the condition is that they can use the name but not any imagery hence we have the C logo. North Dakota lost the right to use Fighting Sioux because the NCAA wanted them to get permission from two tribes. One consented and they other did not so they currently have no mascot.
EMU's fate was sealed because there is no Huron tribe left to give them permission if I remember correctly. So they had to change it. Illinois got around this by saying that the Illini is a fictional tribe but they still aren't allowed to use their chief mascot anymore.

After reading the opinion it appears that the cancelled trademarks have been unused since the '80s given the examples they cite. Why would the NFL change the name of the team if they just lost the trademarks to old logos? IMO this just means the NFL will never do throwback jerseys with the Redskins again.
