Tailgate at the golf course. Makes the trip complete in my book, if you like to drink and socialize. I drove from Iowa with a mixed group of UM/Iowa fans for the Iowa game. Had been to the Big House for football games but had not tailgated. Was a great time. Enjoy the game and thanks for all the great posts
I live in Iowa and can say from personal experience that Iowa fans are all right (a) if you talk to them one on one (b) you talk to them sober or (c) talk to them about something besides college football. I manage a bar and must say that when you gather a large number of them and feed them beer, they are difficult to handle. Also being said I am driving 5 people to Ann Arbor this weekend for the game and two of those are Iowa fans. We need to kick Iowa's ass so I don't kick theirs on the way back home.10 hours is a long time. Go Blue
I am driving with 5 friends from Des Moines, Iowa on Friday for the game and was worried about scalping 5 tix. I knew no way in hell to get five seats in a row until I saw this message and was able to order through mgoblue. That is just one more thing to make this the best thing I have found on the internet for M football. Would plus one you if I knew how.
We threw a "baby shower" for a buddy of ours last summer. We were jealous that girls do it all the time so we used it as an excuse to drink a shit ton of alcohol( and this guy doesn't have a lot of money so we felt the need to buy him things a baby would need). Anyhow, we almost had him talked into naming the baby Bronko "Dick" Nagurski McConnville. We even had T shirts made. Would have been a cool baby name, but his girlfriend nixed the idea the next day. Bummer.
I went to the Michigan/Minnesota game in the dome last year with a buddy of mine who is a Gopher fan. There was a lot of chest beating and trash talking by the Gopher fans until we beat them with one of the worst offensive performaces I have seen in person by our football team. If they talk trash to you and your family, just ignore them. They don't know what the fuck they are talking about one way or the other. They are harmless. They have never been good enough at any sport to really have a reason to back up their tough talk.
I have removed the fork from my dinner plate and inserted into my eye. Want to save myself the pain of watching the second half. I went down and watched Michigan play Clemson in Kansas City last year and they didn't look anything like the team this year. Is it physically possible to get less experienced? Do you think that the "Barwis effect" might be more evident when we have more depth? When we are able to run players in and and on a regular basis as opposed to relying on certain players almost entirely?
I understand that winning the Big 10 tournament is unlikely, but what about a finish that puts us on the bubble after regular season, and then one or two wins in B10 tourney? A quick look at UConn losses look like this:

So if the boys play like they did against a truly no slouch UConn in our tourney, is it possible we make it in? And I don't mean NIT

Yes I agree I would rather have a highly touted recruiting class. I would love to see Baxter and a bunch of other 5 star recruits come North. I guess I just want people with heart. Didn't everyone ask what the hell was going on when recruited a no star out of Louisiana? Then the kid got stars? The system is suspect. If Rich Rod recruits players that show the fire he does on the sidelines we will be fine.

I used to be a rectuiter (for the military not college football),and in my experience if someone says that they want to do an in house meeting that is a great indicator of that persons interest. If that person says that want an in home meeting after an experience that negatively affects their life (coach possibly leaving?),that also bodes well that they might be looking for a change. The fact that this kid is now in a position where he might feel that he was betrayed might play into RR's hands. Rich could say something like "I am glad you are reconsdidering Michigan, I have a full schedule for the next 8 days and the soonest I could meet with you and your parents is next week". He shouldn't go sit outside this kids house for the next three weeks till signing day. Desperation stinks and even high school students can smell it. Go Blue.
I wonder if Alabama fans thought the same thing when their program was struggling? They lost scholarships, were losing to Auburn, hiring coaches that liked the strip clubs, etc. Seemed to turn around for them, so I am of the opinion that if we keep recruiting well, develop those players, and have some coaching stability we will be just fine.
I guess it depends on what he wants to do in the future. I have only seen him play for one season as a true freshman and that does not predict his ability to play by any means. That being said, would he have a chance to play qb in the NFL or would he have a better chance at a different position? With our future depth at qb hopefully he doesn't pull an Eric Crouch and decide that if he can't play qb he will just take his ball and go home.
Glad to see he got one in the NFL, I was just wondering everyone's favorite Hart td at Michigan? I think mine was the Capital One Bowl where he ran over Spikes and looked at him like he was a little girl.
It was hard to watch our boys lose the UM/Iowa game this year. I am a bar manager at one of the largest sports bars in Des Moines and had limited time to watch UM at Kinnick 2009. I don't remember the exact stat, but I think Minor's rush touchdown was the first rushing touchdown surrendered by Iowa's D in something like 10 quarters before the game. I think DRob got one as well. Does this equal hope for our rushing game next year or dismay for Iowa vs. GT? This is my first post, please feel free to tear me up. Being my first post I would like to say thank you TomVH for the work you do.
