I have a feeling this is…

I have a feeling this is what happened. I was questioning for a bit if Seth couldn’t hear them but I’m pretty sure it was just his excitement cutting them off. As someone with ADHD I do this to ppl often but this was in excess. Just gotta be conscious about it.

I realize it’s not all…

I realize it’s not all Harbaugh but he still has oversight. DT/NT recruiting under Harbaugh has left a lot to be desired. Seems like we should be getting more per year.

with the loss of Hinton this year. Shows just how thin we are on the interior. The main difference with this line vs some prior years is they could actually stop the run at a decent level. I don’t care how pass heavy football is. It still starts with stopping the run. In my opinion we need to get batter at recruiting interior DL.

I agree, I just don’t see…

I agree, I just don’t see the transfer thing being as big of a deal as ppl make it. Rarely are transfers successful. Often the ones who were: Justin fields- we could have gotten given their early stage in college.  Also look no further than the players who transfer out of Michigan. The vast majority isn’t leaving because they were starting and great. They are leaving cuz they can’t get up the depth chart anytime soon, I just don’t see the transfer portal changing any programs outside of extremely rare instances. Literally over 1k kids in it.

secondly it’s not like Michigan has gotten ones when they wanted them: Shea Patterson. I haven’t seen any evidence of guys we missed out that wound up being a big deal. Back to most players leave cuz they aren’t good enough.

the ones who leave small schools when they prove to be good enough for a shot at the power 5, usually graduate and we can take them, I just am not seeing this as a big issue at all.

it reminds me of the nfl, the best teams build through the draft, just like the best CFB programs do so through recruiting. Recruiting is the single largest difference between good and great at Michigan, not transferring.

I love Sam Webb, I think he…

I love Sam Webb, I think he’s extremely credible. I even believe Harbaugh said this to a recruit. As someone mentioned earlier, the context matters. Was he asked if he was going to be around forever and he essentially said you never know, I’ll always listen? Hard to say. Feels that way.

Anyway, I feel like this new On3 recruiting service has been coming on hot and heavy as I can imagine that’s putting a ton of pressure on 247, especially with it being x employees. Something about all of this seems intentionally overblown because of pressure from 247 to use Sams credibility to make some loud noise and get readers and be louder and more relevant than On3. It’s not that the story isn’t true to me it’s that 247 is sensationalizing it more than I feel Sam Webb normally does for clicks.

just my thought. I think there is a real chance Harbaugh leaves. But like 30-40% max. If I was a betting man, he will have a new Michigan contract next week. In fact, I should find if there is a way to actually bet this online.

My biggest question is what…

My biggest question is what position is he in the NFL, I don’t think he’s a pure safety. DB or fulltime NB?

To me, I see the single most…

To me, I see the single most important thing in this game being: stopping the run. I think Michigan is a good not great run D. Though with no threat of a running qb, that’s a BIG help.  If Michigan stops the run- they dominate. It’s the only possibly way the Iowa can get going. It’s the only offensive hope they have. You stop the run, get them in passing downs, game over. I personally think Iowa is going to try to run the ball at all costs knowing their major issues at tackle. Then sprinkle in some nicely timed PA to hopefully catch Michigan. I’m okay with getting beat on a few PA as long as we are stopping the run. I’m not saying Iowa is close to msu, but they cannot have an msu level run defense game.

My mind has me extremely confident about this game as it plays into all of Michigans strengths. My heart tells me to be nervous as hell.

Go Blue! Beat Iowa.

But PSUs offense is more…

But PSUs offense is more traditional than Nebraska and for this Michigan defense, that gives them an edge. I think our defense is very good to great vs more traditional offenses, where we aren’t significantly out talented. Which would be the case with OSU. I think PSU offensively is less scary in my eyes than Nebraska simply cuz they won’t have our players/coaches heads spinning when they get rolling.

If Michigan scores 30+ like…

If Michigan scores 30+ like they have on the road in super hostile environments vs a elite defense and a good one. I don’t see how Michigan doesn’t beat both msu and PSU. Osu is the only question. 30 plus with our d vs a normal to semi normal type of offense. I love our odds. The defense looked bad cuz of the offensive scheme. Give me a regular offense and this defense all day.

For me- this is the best…

For me- this is the best part of the transfer portal. He’s a candidate that’s perfect for it. Could go somewhere else and contribute at a smaller d1 school. He gave it a shot and probably just wasn’t good enough. I am happy for him and hope there is no ill will on either side. Wish him the best.

it’s not like the old days where you said stick it out no matter what even if you’re not quite the quality needed at this level. I’m glad now the guys who come in try and just don’t have it get their last opportunity to play the sport the love somewhere.

Is there some bad to the portal where guys give up early, probably. There is also alot of food in it too in the situation where this is an unpaid sport and some guys are just trying to get some PT with their last opportunity

Simply put YES.

less…

Simply put YES.

less simply: I think there are a few coaches with Analyst titles on the team with quite a bit of experience coaching / playing the position and that’s certainly helping.

I really rank last weeks performances very high in terms of single game OL performances by an OL for a Harbaugh team especially vs a top 20 talent composite team level competition.

it was special. I was annoyed about the pass play calling however, I put more into how dominate the OL was even though the defense knew it was coming.

The coverages felt very soft…

The coverages felt very soft, with a lot of holes upon watching live. This write up only confirms it. I am confident it’s a lack of experience with the scheme thing vs lack of talent (not saying the talent is elite, but I have a hard time believing these guys can’t figure it out like many other less talented teams in the B1G). I’m hopeful, especially with Click back there- this is something that will improve over the season. The more I watch them over and over, the more I feel like the back 7 gelling is really going to be the key to success beyond expectations this season.

I just think about other teams like the Badgers or Iowa who have been running zone heavy or cover 2 schemes since dinosaurs ruled the earth, that when there is turnover it’s just plug and play for the next guys up. They can play it in their sleep by then cuz they are also us usually older. We just need time in this scheme, I hope we are good enough that guys don’t get fired and we get to see what this scheme looks like next year + when the players have a firm grasp on it and it’s fully optimized.

The interesting part re: the…

The interesting part re: the negative reports/thoughts regarding the interior DL, is apparently the Defense still got the better of the Offense in that scrimmage. No clue exactly what that means, maybe they must have been good enough that day to take the day vs a bad/okay/good offense?

Very interesting to see how it all plays out. Could be just hope, but I feel like the team is trending in the right direction heading into the opener. I feel better now as a whole about the defense than I did going into fall. I feel meh about the offense as I have less questions about talent and depth and a lot more questions about coaching- Gattis/Moore.

either way Go Blue, still feel good about a return to at least a top 4 like team in the B1G.

I genuinely think that…

I genuinely think that everyone is so jaded by last season (covid and lack of practice, fell off rails). I don’t blame them either. I look at Wisconsin’s defense and they do it with less talent, less speed and honestly perform against top end talent with all of that. There is no reason this defense can’t be at least good. I get we aren’t perfect at every position, we never will be- we aren’t in that recruiting tear. This team with this talent, can be good though- top 4 in the big ten. If you throw out OSU, this defense has enough to be challenging for second best team in the big ten if the offense can provide enough. I happen to think the defense will be more consistent than the offense, hot take- I know. Health matters especially on the line as there is no depth for their needs of size but I’m staying optimistic. Seems every year we’ve had a major change defensive coordinator wise- the defense has been above expectation. I feel the same this year. Go Blue.

Looks like the DB portion is…

Looks like the DB portion is already outdated. CB coach said today that as of now it’s Green and Turner as the starters. Shows that changing coaches gives others a shot. Worked for DJ. Good for him, higher ceiling

I would have loved to hear…

I would have loved to hear more in depth everyone’s thoughts on NIL, how it is now, how it works now, how we see it changing rules wise in the future, how it effects the game, and how Michigan is currently asking as compared and where we think they will go with it. Would love to hear all of your opinions on that. Either podcast or an article.

All benches tighten up. I…

All benches tighten up. I would have a hard time believing that this many people will play at least that many mins. Possible. But it feels like good teams, they are more too heavy in mins than this shows.

Go Blue!

Go Blue!

I don’t think we should…

I don’t think we should really be complaining about many offensive issues in a game we won and put up 92. The game spoke to him in other ways yesterday. Worked out very well. Had second most assists on the team...

Feels less weird being in…

Feels less weird being in limbo if he wanted to allow the DC some input and now he has the time to do that. I’d assume they come very quickly

I was wrong quickly. wisco …

I was wrong quickly. wisco -Nebraska cancelled

I think Wisconsin plays this… I think Wisconsin plays this weekend. They are still favored. I would say odds are they go 2-0 in the next two games and are undefeated coming into Michigan. Wisconsin wins the East with easy. It was odd on the podcast that you guys seem to just assume the Wisconsin situation was a foregone conclusion
I think Wisconsin plays this…

Thanks!

I was thinking concussion…

I was thinking concussion first also. First I heard of the poker eye.

The recruiting in the DT…

The recruiting in the DT department has made little to no sense from a planning process. You should have multiple guys to choose from to find good ones. It such an important position. How can you attempt to stop the pass if you can’t stop the run? See osu games the last 2 seasons. This years team has more potential than last. It’s absolutely necessary that Hinton and at least 1 of smith or jeter hit. If they don’t, I have no idea how we beat osu or Wisconsin this year. To me our lack of defensive success over the last 2 years has all come down to the middle. Mind boggling how they haven’t changed our recruiting strategy here. Also, one last request- can we please recruit some guys at DT that come in at DT weight. Benny and Rooks fit that bill. Must get.

Re: Defensive Backs…

Re: Defensive Backs Specifically corners.

I’m very confident that if the line can stop the run this year. Thus allowing them to pin their ears back and get to the QB, the corners will be fine no matter which one is the second corner. It will be good enough for all of the big ten save OSU. Maybe even osu if the line ends up being very good to great. It’s literally all about the DL. The way that goes is the was the CBS go.

Hill is safety and will play…

Hill is safety and will play some nickel. Has been confirmed more than once. He’s not going to be starting at corner.

We have no idea when this…

We have no idea when this switch was made. Just because this was the first mention of it, doesn’t mean much. Also- he could have been a great cover safety. It’s not like they don’t have those duties and he’s switching from offense.

This is wrong he’s been…

This is wrong he’s been mentioned by the coaches multiple times. Including today.

I said this on another…

I said this on another thread. They knew they weren’t going to be passing at that point. Struber is huge- he was in for running.

Steuber in my opinion came…

Steuber in my opinion came in because they knew at that point they were done passing. I get the feeling based on his size he’s a run blocker first. I’m thinking they played the match up Hudson vs Steuber and went with the run game.

My only question would be-…

My only question would be- it seems a lot of people agree JBB is an very good run blocker. So-so to not that good at odd blocking. So if Hudson wins the LT spot is JBB an option at LG...

How unfair is the conference…

How unfair is the conference split? Wisco is projected 10 wins in a conference that number 2 is 7.5 and they have 4 9 plus wins on our side. Wow.

This is happening to me also…

This is happening to me also where it says to many failed attempts either wait a while or reset the password. Yet i've only tried logging in once. Seems i have it under control now I think. although i haven't gone back and logged on my phone yet. Which it seems will make it do it again when i switch between the platforms.

I don't even see an option…

I don't even see an option to vote at all? I feel dumb- where is it?

That worked perfect so I can…

That worked perfect so I can differentiate between the two . Thanks you for all the help. I also love the quick access of an app. Since the site changed to this new browser only, my usage of the site has gone down. Which maybe is good for my health but not for their clicks. This will change me back to normal excessive clicks.

I'm doing one for both the…

I'm doing one for both the front page as well as the board. To bad you didn't make two separate icons for us ;-)

Very sad Hope they make it out okay. Prayers are with them.
Has work to do

In my opinion he should come back and improve his handles and shooting. Next year will be his year. No matter what hope all works out for him.

Upon further review I agree I agree with that and that stats are undeniable. I also remember that we had a rough go against the Minnesota guards. So I do agree in your assessment that it’s not a given that Z is going to be other worldly defensively. I’d love to see us take advantage of our height on offense. I admit I am afraid of MAAR and Matthews covering their small guards (both have been borderline excellent this year in D). I really worry about Jordan Poole’s defense in this game which makes me think he won’t see much game time. Like last game vs the quick small guards.

2nd Northwestern game That game was more about Michigan’s lack of offense rather than poor d. Maybe he didn’t check him the way he did in the first game but Michigan was off on offense. Things on offense changed after that day and propelled them to where they are now. I expect Michigan to play better on offense today vs how they played Thursday. Rust is off. Let’s get Mo rolling!
Poor D and No 3s

Maar was benched with fouls for stretches. Him alone being back in will help the d. Hit about 4-5 3s as a team this half and I think we can win this one. Fouls were a bit touchy but total number of fouls was pretty even. I'd like to see a little 2-3 zone this half to slow the game down.

He also said something more Today on another board about remembering he said the writing was on the wall. Now this thread started and the timing of his comment lines up.
Tried the code Couldn’t get 1 much less the 4 I’m looking for. Damn
He was an MSU guy Deep down his heart has to lay with MSU? Right ?
Anderson

I may sound dumb but I just want to read about the guy. Who is Anderson? First name? Where did he coah? Anything. Thanks! Keep doing you Umbig11

How were those offensive lines I think it’s safe to say that while O’Korn will probably never be great- you could potentially make him look good behind one of those offensive lines....
O’Korn That’s was a very Ruddock looking performance by John. In a good way...
Not Speights fault The offensive play calling has been horrendous today and frankly all year. Michigan never throws over the middle.
31-21 31-21 Michigan
