CIL

The CIL live blog was awesome last year; it made watching the games without other Michigan fans around much more fun. Twitter could be ok, but there will be the problem of trolls and that you only get 140 characters to comment. For some of the stats updates that the moderators would put out, that may be a problem.

AMC Lineup

Don't forget Mad Men is also a part of that lineup once Season 5 starts this spring. I don't know who has a better lineup, the Detroit Tigers or AMC.

Precedent

USC was always going to be the precedent that most assumed the NCAA would use in this situation. They are similar situations in the same sport. USC had one assistant coach know of one player receiving illegal benefits. OSU had their head coach know and cover up the illegal benefits received by 5 players.

The only "WOW" worthy aspect of this episode is that OSU got nothing close to USC's punishment when it is obvious to everyone outside of Columbus and Indianapolis that OSU deserved much worse. As an OSU fan, you should be thankful that you benefitted from the NCAA's incompetence and hope that evidence of further violations doesnt come out.

Court of Two Sisters

I have never been for dinner, but Court of Two Sisters has the best jazz brunch I have ever had. All you can drink mimosa's for the table, a masssive buffett that is filled with delicious cajun and brunch food, and an excellent omelet stand. After you load up your plate, you sit in a courtyard that is covered by spanish moss trees. Its all you can eat and drink (I think), so it is worth every penny if you have a copule hours to sit, enjoy the scenery, and eat amazing food.

Great List

As a NOLA resident for 2 1/2 years now, I completely agree with everything on the list. A couple of additions:

French Quarter:

Pat O'Briens: I think they invented the Hurricane, so get one here. They have multiple bars, a nice courtyard that has plenty of seating and is heated so you can be out there anytime of year, as well as a pretty cool dueling piano bar in the back. On Bourbon Street, but not like most Bourbon Street bars.

Goldmine: The F&M's/Grits of the French Quarter. Open till everyone leaves, which very often is after the sun comes up. If you are looking to hook up, this is a pretty good place to go. When you first get there, do a round of Flaming Dr. Pepper shots and then have a real good time.

CBD/Warehouse District:

W.I.N.O: If you like wine or will be bringing the Mrs, this is a good place to pre-game before heading out to the louder bars/clubs in the area.

Lucy's: During the day, they have cheap drinks, pretty good burgers, and a bunch of games on. At night, they still have the cheap drinks, but people are dancing on the tables.

Uptown Place to Avoid

The Boot: unless you are underage, do not go here. It is on Tulane's campus, and is the underage bar. There will likely be high school kids in the bar asking you to buy drinks for them.

Decent Fit

I think Tulane would be a pretty good fit for RR. Not only does he have previous ties to the program, but he could obviously recruit the kids that he wants from the South. In addition, Tulane is in the process of trying to build an on-campus stadium and bringing in a high-profile coach such as RR would help that effort. Right now, the program has no buzz, the game day atmosphere is terrible since they play in the SuperDome and the team sucks. RR could change that and rebuild a program that many thought wouldn't come back after Katrina. As a Tulane student, I am hoping we can hire him.

Janitor

That is covered in Victim 8 of the indictment. The janitor was a Korean war vet who was a temporary employee. Walked in on Sandusky sexaully assaulting a kid in the showers. The indictment stated that the janitor was inconsolable and that his co-workers feared that he would have a heart attack. I think the indictment quoted the janitor as mentioning things he saw in Korea, but never seeing evil like that.  In addition, Sandusky evidently left with the kid after the shower, then returned alone to the parking lot and stayed throughout the night while the janitorial staff was still inside. Not trying to excuse the failure to report on behalf of the janitor (they may have reported it to their supervisor, but I don't remember from the indictment), just trying to provide additional context.

grain alcohol

Should go with everclear in honor of losing to Iowa+refs. Thats what Tubes would do.

Binge Drinking

Grab a fifth and Go? Grab a fifth and Go.

PSU bball

Actually, I really like Taylor Battle for PSU. He is the one bright spot on that terrible squad.

New HC a former DC

I think the OP stated that Ok St.'s current DC would take the WVU HC position. Its unlikely that he would keep around Casteel who I think runs a different defense then Ok St.

Favring All Over Itself

What a great way to describe the media love of favre

Really?

How much time did you spend actually wondering about this? First, no one in the pro's has run anything close to RR's offense as their base offense. Second, the Lions franchise qb, Matt Stafford, is getting paid a huge amount of money because he has all the skills to be an effective pro-style qb. I doubt the Lions would hire RR so they can have Stafford running the zone read.

The only team I could see your absurd scenario working with is the Bronco's. They have Tebow, and their other quarterbacks (Orton and Quinn) can probably be traded (Orton) or cut (Quinn) pretty easily.

Perfect way to think about

Amazing that this is actually a discussion. Old Record + a Winter Classic at Fenway is probably the best way to think about it. The record for the most attended hockey game was set yesterday and will stand until we decide to hold another outdoor hockey game (hopefully next year).

Be Careful

Not sure if "extremely anal" is the setting OP wants. Could get him in really big trouble.

Edit: beat me to it nuclearblue

Wife Made Him

Do you think his wife made him post this? Perhaps watched from behind as he wrote it up and saved it? I hope thats how he got out of the dog house. He gets peace at home, and we get this awesome thread.

Hipster's bringing them back

Two days ago, I saw a hipster chick rocking a hornets starter jacket in the library. My roommate and I just stared then laughed as we walked away. Not sure how I feel about starter jackets becoming the new hipster thing.

Weill

I do miss studying in Weill. My last two years I don't think I went to the UGLI or Grad to study. The second floor conference room was my favorite spot to study on campus. Great view of State St. and the Law School, big table, bright lights, and multiple chalk boards.

Great Description

"1000 bee stings in my eye"

I just sprayed red bull all over the place when I read that.

Nasty

I have Energy Reg, then Admiralty 1

Wait till you finish the last one

There is nothing like the feeling you will have once you finish that last 1L first semester exam. You will not know what to do for about 10 minutes, then you will start drinking. Having all that stress just disappear is incredible.

Law School Finals

Finished Evidence Monday, Energy Reg Thursday, then 3 more after that. Looking forward to drinks on my flight home on Dec 17 makes studying tolerable. Does anyone else get the feeling before exams that you just can't wait to take them. Not excited, just an anxiousness to get them over with.

Needs the New Towers

This cake needs the new towers added, preferably filled with chocolate.

Danielson

I will take Musberger and Herbstreit any day of the week and twice on Sunday before Lunquist and Danielson. First you have Danielson's ridiculousness during the 2006 SEC Championship Game. Second, Danielson just doesn't provide good insight into the game, why some players are doing well, others aren't, why a strategy isn't or is working etc. Instead, he mostly fawns over the best player on both teams, and comments continuously about how the SEC is the toughest conference in the country. On the other hand, Herbstreit, though a buckeye, provides quality analysis every game and I never seem to notice any bias from him (though some on this board seem to notice it). Lundquist and Musberger are both quality play-by-play, but I give Musberger the slight edge just because I associate him with college football and I associate Lundquist with March Madness.

Oregon's Identity

At this point, Oregon's identity is having all of these crazy combo's. Some of them are awesome, some are awful. Either way, I think its pretty awesome for Oregon. However, it must suck for Oregon fans who want to buy a jersey, since there are so many different types. I wonder if Oregon fans bet on what the combo for each game?

Ben Franklin

I believe Ben Franklin is the wise man who came up with that very true quote.

Probably Stays the Same

I assume that if RR does leave the blog will support the next coach. And when the next coach doesn't win the National Championship next year and people begin demanding that he gets fired, it will continue to be a sane place on the internet to discuss Michigan Football.

Vault and Red Bull

Finals Time. Need to get a Hard Edge!!!!

Two Four Loko

Getting to 8 or 12 loko is probably worse...

ugh

If he does commit to Alabama, it will be telling if he says he will enter school early still or wait till the end of the year. If he is going to stay for his last hs semester, maybe its just a sign that he is hedging his bet regarding RR. If he is going to start early at bama, than I am going to have a sad.

Non-Conference

My first game was against Northern Illinois in 05. Still got goosebumps walking into the Big House for the first time. If you really want to see a big game, maybe try to get tickets to the ND game next year. Its a rivalry, its the first night game ever, and should be a great game.

Too Much Fun

I think everyone has had too much fun mocking the post for it to be deleted.

Thank You

Thank you for the advice regarding profitgoblue's work. It is much appreciated.

I have also seen articles where Klinnsman talks about Germany's common identity as a team. The one thing that does intrigue me about having Bradley back for another cycle is whether he can create that common identity for the US. Bradley's teams have focused on athletic, hardworking defense with quick, counter-attacking offense. Installing that as a US style of play I think would be a great fit for the US. This style reminds of watching USA Hockey teams over the past 15 years. More athletic and scrappy though less skilled then the Canadians (which in Soccer would be England) and much less skilled and fluid though more physical then the Europeans (Soccer equivalent: Brazil, Argentina, Spain, France, Germany). This style of play mirrors American sporting culture's focus on hard work, playing through the whistle and giving everything for the team while also taking advantage of our ability to churn out more and better athletes then many of these other countries. Hopefully Bradley can do what Arena could not and make us a true contender on soccer's biggest international stage by instituting this as our soccer identity.

Absolutely

Yes, Klinnsman would have been a great pick as a replacement for Bradley. I appreciate what Bradley has done with this team, especially the run that they put together in this past WC. However, I think we need a top name to really push us over the top to truly competing for a WC title. Bradley was good enough to get us there, but the expectations have been raised, and I don't think he can meet them. Hopefully, he proves me wrong in 2014. (Hopefully talking about the USMN HC job does not violate the rules regarding discussion of other coaching jobs. If it does, I apologize profusely, its finals season and I have not had time to read the new rules regarding CC posts and such).

Excellent

Great job. Including Michigan football fandom in the classroom is a great skill that really makes a boring class more interesting. Earlier this year, during Hard Edge Week, I described a judge's decision to release 4 Somali Pirates from custody because they had not actually boarded another vessel when they were arrested for piracy as "Not Hard Edge" when asked my thoughts on the case by my professor. He had no clue what I was talking about, but I at least got to smile.

TWIS

After we win each week, the team would come into practice on Monday and get to read an article about the pain they inflicted on the opponents fan base. If we lose, the team captains are put in charge of deleting all mgoboard posts about firing Brian and bringing in Ron English.

deuce and a half

You would have to spend at least a deuce and a half on booze alone for the tailgate before Brady Hoke's first game as HC.

Thanks

Wow, this is going to be a long month...

Oh No

Rosenberg just got an idea for his next investigation into Michigan football...

DB

I agree with you that the apotheosis of DB around here is a little strange, but I disagree with your strikes against him. Your "worst case scenario" where a team rests key players in The Game in order to prepare for the championship game disregards the fact that if both teams are undefeated, or even only undefeated in the Big10, they will be fighting for a spot in the NC or at least a BCS at large. The Game will still be a conference semi-final for at least one of the teams most years where if they win they are in the championship. Putting both teams into the same division would have achieved the same result. Being in separate divisions gives us the chance to beat OSU twice. Again, agree with you on the DB=diety though. The guy is good, but lets wait a few years before we name the new Bball court after him.

EDIT: Beat me to it and more concisely at that. Would +1 if possible.

Grad School

What about when he graduates? Brian should get on the phone with grad school admissions staff...

Jim Grobe

People weren't actually serious about Jim Grobe right?

Redundant

"I live in Ohio, which sucks."

The "which sucks" part is redundant.

On Point

I am in the NOLA airport about to hop on a flight back to Detroit for the holiday. I am dreading hearing from my MSU fans about how they need "lil sis" (as they call us under RR) to win in order to send them to their first Rose Bowl in my lifetime. Watching the game with my college friends on Saturday will quickly devolve into this message board if we fall behind. My only hope is that this Saturday is instead an upset that ends Tressel's reign of terror and gets Denard mentioned with the likes of Woodson, Howard, and Biakabatuka

I am particularly interested

I am particularly interested in the Mathlete's upcoming look at the effect RR trying to suck his head back through his neck in a fit of pure rage has on our young defense's pysche. Other analysis have projected that similar examples of rage exhibited by other college football coaches have a deleterious effect on their defenses ability to get off the field on third down. However, the hilarious nature of this unique rage fit could lead the young players to loosen up, leading to better execution and an increased propensity to take risks, leading to more turnovers. Should be a great read.

John Giordano

Its too bad I am too young to remember our hockey team under John Giordano.

Next Post Idea

Lets reflect on the Horror, or perhaps Tommy Amaker's last season as bball coach. Maybe we should have a post about having your wisdom teeth taken out.

Mallet

I seem to remember Mallet coming in for a drive in the second half where he promptly fumbled and we went three and out. The douche sitting behind who was screaming for Mallet and booing Henne then promptly left as we asked him why he was not booing Mallet for being exactly what you would expect of a true freshman playing in horrible conditions against a team on its way to the national championship game.

Thanks

Thanks for the explanation. Hopefully I can find it at a bar somewhere.

Awesome

Please do these for the fire RichRod/relax the defense will get better posts. However, that may take way too much of your time.
