a big raise? come on. osu can match anything oklahoma offers. day might turn one of these offers into a raise at his current school, ala james franklin, but i don't see him leaving anytime soon.
outside of two separate 1-year stints (at florida, at 49ers), his entire coaching and playing careers have been in the new england/midwest footprint.
the job is a lateral move at best and, depending on re-alignment with the two new additions, they'll have to play at least as tough a schedule as osu has in the big ten east.
and let's not make it look like he'd be likely to turn tail and run. michigan played well this weekend but ultimately has 1 win against their main rival this decade. i expect this game to motivate day, prompt the hiring of a new DC from outside the program, and for osu to continue to be elite.
this has already been happening, for a good number of years. i went to the university at buffalo, where they recently (3ish years ago) cut men's swimming and diving, baseball, soccer, and women's crew to reign in their budget. men's swimming and diving programs around the country have already done this in many smaller conferences and a few in major conferences, maryland and rutgers being the first that come to mind. i understand that none of these sports are primary revenue sports for the athletic department, and it certainly happens, but it's a shame. i know several student athletes that either signed letters of intent or started their college careers and had almost no notice that this was happening
hey, be nice to buffalo! i'm an alum, from back when turner gill coached drew willy and james starks to a surprising MAC title. the team is definitely horrible, and they cut 3 mens teams and 1 womens team to continue to fund them. apparently, they somehow have a very productive WR in anthony johnson. he should be enough to take care of business against rutgers.
yes! haven't seen coverage maps, but i'm in buffalo, NY and i couldn't care less about clemson vs. syracuse. waiting for someone to post a stream link not from firstrow sports!
i'm torn on this. i feel like the iman's visit went about as well as possible, but i can't see a situation where he doesn't end up at USC. his commitment would definitely be worth waiting for, and we could always bank scholarships come NSD if our top targets go elsewhere (clark, marshall, not sure who else is deciding then). i would just hope they didn't tell a high ceiling player like dalton not to visit when iman's almost certainly not coming and they want 2 CB in the class
i could be wrong, but it looks like 97 is a tee shot. not sure, but clubs all look like irons. 2013 is a green approach, hence the lack of violent finish. that would make a huge difference

you can say what you want to about their defense, but dantonio and narduzzi have essentially built perennial top 5 defenses out of 2 and 3 star recruits (with a few exceptions). their defenses are always good, and i expect that to be no different this year. let's not get ahead of ourselves, especially since we really don't know how our OL will gel as a whole, how Borges' play calling will go, or who, if anyone, will really step up at RB. one or more of those pieces missing and msu's 'average' defense will be very effective against us
The funny part about that picture is that lewan should have been called for holding both of them (not sure if he was). but hey, it happens. still looks awesome, like both of those poor fools from nebraska don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting by him, no matter how far around him they thought they ran

given enough solid recruiting classes, hoke and company will transform this roster into beasts. i have no doubt michigan will have a strong, physical, perennial top-10 defense for years to come!
Does anybody know what smith ran in the 40? Seems like he could have close to a Tay Odoms time (which I believe was a hair under 4.4 last year) if he didn't stand up straight so damn quickly. still probably a solid time though
I wouldn't be looking too much into a commitment the weekend they visit. While Cole has expressed the most interest, it's still early in their recruitment. Cole and Scott obviously like Michigan, but are from a long way away. The commit-a-palooza last year was from mostly Detroit and Midwestern guys if I remember correctly. Could be one or two exceptions to that. Highly unlikely Michigan lands one or both of the package deal this early-which is not to say they don't have a good shot at ultimately landing one or maybe both of them. Campbell is another guy I'm excited about, but I think the coaches would be hesitant to take his committment so early. Even if he did, it's a LONG way to go until 2015 signing day.
I was always a little nervous about his redshirt. I read on elevenwarriors recently (they posted a link to Rich Rod's press conference at the Gator Bowl) saying that Rich Rod, when asked about Denard's health, said something to the effect of "Devin is ready to go if Denard can't." So even though he did have some sort of back injury, the extent of which is unknown, this makes it seem like he was fine by the end of the year, and didn't play because of the coaches decision. Which makes me skeptical. That having been said, his redshirt senior year is vital to Shane's adjustment and development to being ready for college. He would fare no better than Bellomy if rushed into action now. He has a bigger arm than Russell but that's about it at this point.
Was about to post the exact same thing. I think he was measured at a camp this past summer at something like 6'1" and change. Definitely not taller than 6'2". It's a shame because that almost 3 inches of height can really determine how much weight he can pack on without losing speed. That being said, I think he'll be a good player for michigan down the road
