Don't know what you're talking about.

In Denver, you can see the mountains. In SLC, you are among them.

You're Jim MF Hackett, aren't you?

3.2 beer never is. You can drink it all day and still not get a buzz.

Am I the only one who hears JUB's staccato vocal rhythm in his/her head as I read the passages of the book?
I don't have a "best" book not written by JUB, but I do know the WORST book imaginable: "War as They Knew It" by Michael "Countable Hour? What's That?" Rosenberg.

Anyone see THE KNOWLEDGE and Buckeye 69 together? I mean, that's kind of spooky, right?
|2 days 21 hours ago||Talent, yes||
Ability to execute, maybe not. I don't doubt that we will be better, but as someone pointed out, that 5-7 record last year was worse than reflected in wins and losses. There is a lot of ground to make up.
|3 days 2 hours ago||Thanks for pointing that out||
I am reading the thread in a browser and thinking the entire board has Tourette's.

By far. Good man.

This is the last comment from me on this topic.
You do understand, right, that September in Michigan is probably the best time to get married? Weather is nearly perfect. Giving my bride and me the best odds at a beautiful day for our wedding (and it was) ranked much higher on my list of priorities than whether I might one day have to decide between catching the U-M game and something my wife and/or our kids wanted to do.
You will find, too, should you have kids, that their schedules will also interfere with football. Regardless of what agreements you may currently have with your spouse, rest assured that putting those aside while you watch the game will not exactly win you a lot of points with her, her friends and family, or your children.
|3 days 22 hours ago||Actually, I think you've missed the point||
We have to draw the line somewhere. I just accepted the fact that things were going to come up for invited guests. If they could make it, that would make us happy. If they couldn't, well, shit happens. I wasn't going to wail and gnash my teeth over it.
As for the years that followed - and by the way, it wasn't just the years but literally the following week because we were on our honeymoon - we have compromised. While M football is important to me, she is a vastly more important factor in my life. It's not even close. So, somehow, I have managed to survive.

So you're saying you didn't take into account your friends and family who might be baseball fans? Any birthdays or other anniversaries to consider? What about their vacations, work schedules or other conflicts?
Just what kind of friend are you?
|3 days 23 hours ago||Ah, I see||
You've never been married. Why didn't you just say so?
It explains literally everything.
|3 days 23 hours ago||Sorry, but...||
I can only give so many fucks about other teams' schedules. I can't plan my life around the vagaries of Spartan or Notre Dame fans' preferences. Nor should I.
|4 days 11 min ago||As a matter of fact||
My anniversary is Sept 23. My wife's brother and sister-in-law are also U-M alumni; as were every one of the groomsmen and my Best Man. No way was I getting married on a football Saturday.
|4 days 28 min ago||That game||
Was only about a month before my wedding. Thanks for reminding me that I've got to get something special for my wife.
(Just kidding... This is one anniversary I've been planning for a while).

No need to be ashamed for looking at porn. Everyone does it - even wives, sometimes.
Just the other day, my wife came up behind me while I was watching Slut Wars, Episode X - Return of the Bukkaki and caught the climactic scene (so to speak) before I shut down my browser.

Values start at the top and flow down. Maybe he thought technique was being taught - or maybe he indicated that they can learn it "on their own time."
Whatever the case, they clearly didn't.
|5 days 36 min ago||Cut into the ass||
That phrase had me laughing. Maybe what they need is the Wild Thing solution:
|5 days 42 min ago||Probably scheme and game plan||
I don't get the sense that Borges was really very interested in technique. Like Charlie Weis (miss you, big guy) he focused on the "system" and game planning for opponents.
I've never been an athlete, but I was a pretty serious music student at one time. I was drilled over and over on technique, scales, etc., until I was sick of it - even after I'd played for years. It taught me that you must continue to practice the basics even long after you thought you'd mastered them, and particularly when you're getting ready for a big performance.

Of a really shitty beer.

But a CD!?!
CUMMONG, man! My first MMB soundtrack was a cassette!
And I'll bet MGrowOld's first was a wax cylinder phonograph given to him personally by Thomas A. Edison.

During Parent Orientation, we were told of the new policy. Personally, I'm okay with it. I don't need to know my daughter's every coming and going. What she does with her time is her business.
However, I am paying (handsomely) for her privilege to attend the University of Michigan void of student debt. She'll get a job for some extra spending and vacation money, but the education (from her point of view) is free and clear.
In exchange for that, I have certain expectations. One, is that she'll go to class, do her homework, and work hard. I don't expect her to graduate summa cum laude, and I don't need to see her grades first hand, but I'd better not see her on the next late night ad for Girls Gone Wild, either.
Likewise, even though she is an adult, she is still my daughter. If she gets caught a second time for MIP, then there's the possibility (likely or not) that she has a problem with alcohol or other intoxicants. It may also be that she's just not taking this college business seriously; in which case, we need to have a discussion of a totally different sort. Either way, it is absolutely my business as her father to make sure that she gets the help she needs to get back on track with her life.

His track record as AD at MSU seems to have been a mostly successful one. I would guess that he's not any happier about how this worked out than we are.
Or maybe he's just way more interested in playing basketball games at neutral sites like Saturn. Either way.

Or he has studied the speaches of one John F. Kennedy. I'm guessing the latter.

Those same descriptors re: Michigan also apply to Brandon (/shudders).
I don't know that Miles would or wouldn't have been a good coach here. None of us ever will. But I also think that whatever reasons and reservations so many had about him may have been good ones.

Who in their right mind wants more than one spouse???
|1 week 1 day ago||John Cooper||
The firing of Earle Bruce and the hiring of John Cooper forever severed my mom's love of the Buckeyes. She was an Ohio transplant from the age of 15 (moving from Tennessee) and idolized Woody Hayes.
In 1989 during a family vacation, we met an older guy/alum from Columbus who tried to convince my mom that firing Coach Bruce was the best thing for Ohio State. She would have none of it and talked of the whole affair as a traitorous act.
When Cooper eventually got fired himself, I'm not sure, but I may have seen a twinkle in her eye....

Tripp Welborne, anyone? He was a great player and I got to know him a little bit when we both lived in South Quad in 1987. If Freddy Canteen becomes a Welborne type of player, I have no concerns whatsoever about the defensive backfield.
