Nothing official, other than…

Nothing official, other than John Henschke reporting about it on Rivals. Rumored to be a broken hand. I’m certain nothing will come officially until tomorrow morning at the required time.

Do you know how many APAs…

Do you know how many APAs look at a bunch of warrant requests and supporting police reports that they barely skim over to see if some evidence exists for the request for charges? I can assure you that a lot don’t look to see if they’ve got BARD before issuing charges; they charge and see where the case develops, at best.

Getting to a sweet sixteen…

Getting to a sweet sixteen doesn’t make you a top 16 program that year, lol. 17-14? That’s not a top 16 team. He’s had one great season, the rest have been mediocre-to-bad.

That tcu punter has flopped…

That tcu punter has flopped a bunch of times in games this year. If there’s a defender anywhere near him when he is punting the ball, he will auto-fall on his back, FIFA style. I’ve seen refs ignore it/him several times, but I’ve also seen the slightest touch get called when he does this. I don’t think Michigan needs to risk this, unless they have to. Not worth extending a drive for TCU’s dangerous offense. Them punting it to us gives another opportunity to grind the clock for 5-7 minutes with a TD.

Where is everyone watching the Big Noon pregame? The only thing I’ve seen is that it starts at 11am, and right now on Fox is some wildlife show. The kinky thing I see on is game day. Am I missing something here? I use YouTube TV btw.

What does it point to, other…

What does it point to, other than mgoblog knows little more/if anything more than we do? At this point, it’s been several days since the rumor. If there was more to it, you’d know by now. Mgoblog has heard the same rumors as we have, they are adjusting to their “what if” scenario. If it were any different, I think you might have heard from them about it.

What would impress you? More sacks? They’re  creating pressure. It’s clearly UConn’s game-plan not to get their qb killed; they’re already down to their 2nd string.

Yeppers! And wasn’t Hart out for the Iowa game, or got hurt during and we finished with Jerome Jackson to win it in OT?

I’m a criminal defense…

I’m a criminal defense attorney who has had the privilege of working with many different substance abuse treatment providers, medical professionals, etc.. Jail is a terrible treatment plan for sobriety. It’s not an appropriate setting for detox, crisis intervention, or short-term or long-term sobriety. It is an archaic method of keeping individuals out of the community based on motivations driven by the most outdated stereotypes, absolutes, and over-generalizations (i.e., drug addicts are a danger to the public). If your sole treatment plan is to take away something they desire to the point they will do most anything to obtain it, wait a few days, and then hope that they make the “right” choice, you’re grossly underestimating addiction as a disease. Addiction is not a temporary lapse in judgment, it’s a crippling battle that lasts a lifetime. Long-term sobriety is achieved by education, accountability, counseling, community support, and sometimes medication assistance. Not by “flushing out” physical symptoms of substance withdrawal. What do you think that addict is going to do as soon as they’re done with withdrawal? Or when they get around the only “community” (of addicts) they’ve ever known (or the only community they have left)? Relapse in an instance, that’s what.

Also, I realize you didn’t ask for it, but here’s some legal advice: don’t participate in any way to someone getting high or getting their “fix.” By your description, at best you’re an accomplice to possessing the illegal drug with these people, or by “paying for their fix” you’re an accomplice to delivering it to them. At worst, whatever you paid for kills them, and you’re now on the hook for delivery causing death. None of these scenarios is advisable.

I would have to disagree…

I would have to disagree with your assertion that jail is the best option for a fentanyl addict, or any addict for that matter. Not only is forced, total, and unmanaged abstinence, such as extreme measures like incarceration, extremely unlikely to ever contribute to sobriety, whether short or long-term, it’s also medically dangerous. And sadly enough, in my experience jail staff tend to be apathetic to the plight of a withdrawing addict, so it’s rare that inmates are properly being monitored during this time. No one comes out of jail a recovering addict

Austin Davis? J-Mo was the…

Austin Davis? J-Mo was the inverse of Austin Davis; elite-defender, not very skilled offensively.

For Michigan's sake should…

For Michigan's sake should they get past Villanova and face Arizona in the E8, I sure hope so.

Michigan might not have the…

Michigan might not have the depth to do it, but if Frankie starts at the 1, they're a lot more capable of staying with Nova's backcourt--the obvious weak link would be Houstan in the starting 5 (his length could help contest shots from nova's guards he can't stay exactly in front of on picks/screens, etc.). They did a much better job of defending an even bigger (in my opinion) defensive mismatch against Tennessee, and scored rather well against Tennessee's better, clipping an efg of 51%.

That's all to say that Michigan isn't playing like an 11-seed right now. They could play closer to Baylor's early-season defensive level against Villanova than their own when they were really struggling. I don't anticipate Michigan will go back to its early-season struggles tonight.

This seems to be a rather…

This seems to be a rather revisionist take: We all recall Jordan Morgan fondly as a player at Michigan, and primarily because of the team's success while he was here, and some big moments (the perfect player to take a charge at the right moment it seemed); i.e., the Tennessee charge moment in the 2014 tourney. But to say that Jordan Morgan is "way better" than Diabate isn't really even qualifiable at this point. SR Jordan Morgan vs. FR Moussa Diabate is not a fair comparison to make, IMO. By statistical analysis, both freshman versions of these players are pretty similar. But Diabate is 100% on his way to being a much better overall player than Morgan. And at this point in his career, he's so much more versatile offensively and defensively than Morgan was. He has the length and quickness to guard wings/small forwards. Morgan HAD to guard PF/C's, even as undersized as he was doing that, because he couldn't stay in front of any other position on defense (understandable being 6'8" 250+, just wasn't very athletic).

"Villanova is not a team you…

"Villanova is not a team you can have a bad shooting night against and live to tell about it."

It's not ideal, no, but this isn't entirely a true statement. Baylor beat Villanova early on in the season by 21(!) points shooting only 39% from the field, and 25% from 3, with an EFG of 31%. That's a pretty bad shooting night. And not only did Baylor live to tell about it, but they also dominated the game despite it. Granted, a huge caveat applies here: Baylor's defense is >>>>>>>> Michigan's, particularly the perimeter kind.

I think it’s easy for you to…

I think it’s easy for you to say the game plan was bad because it didn’t work. I don’t know what you expected them to do? Michigan tried to do many things tonight, but when you can’t block their pass rush, can’t handle their blitzing, can’t get separation from their secondary, can’t confuse their lb corp, it doesn’t matter what you plan up. On defense, we couldn’t stop their run, setting up 2nd and 3rd downs with like less than 3 yards to go every time. That makes it easy for quick passes down the field, preventing Hutchinson or Ojabo from being effective. The rest of the defense has been vulnerable all year, those two covered up so many defensive deficiencies.

This game wasn’t in coaching. Michigan can’t compete with the best in college football right now from a talent perspective. Period.

Adam Anderson’s absence loomed large yesterday (247sports.com)

^^ that is from the 247 Georgia board.....Georgia fans seem to be more concerned with having played Alabama without this guy than him being accused/charged with criminal sexual conduct (I think more than one victim/charge, not sure though). One poster in there even says "I hope that gal is happy." .....THAT'S how much sports matters to some people in this world.....wow (smh)...

I often misremember stuff,…

I often misremember stuff, especially when I am being critical of something, but I don't recall Michigan having consistent and sustained success running between the tackles recently. We couldn't get to the second level much at all against MSU, Indiana seemed like we were having success but that was using stretch zone rushing concepts (outside of the tackle box). It seems that most of our running success over the last several games have been concentrated schemes that get the ball and blockers to the outside of the field.

lol, I mean, the first game isn’t even over. You forget the issues we had with Oakland last year, and our early struggles against UCF before we started our run early in the season?

Are Vegas spreads really a…

Are Vegas spreads really a prediction of which team is "better?" I am ignorant on this topic, for sure, but I was under the impression that the spread is less "which team is better and by how much," and more "which team is getting the money bets" or "how does Vegas want to incentivize money bets coming in." I'm sure more here know MUCH more than I do about that, however.

When the 2020 season's "dust" finally settled, I don't view that as an upset; MSU was simply a better team in 2020. The overstated perception of how good Michigan was/looked after beating a depleted (covid + NFL draft) Minnesota team, and how bad MSU looked after the self-infliction the week before against Rutgers in the form of 7 (!) TOs, can't be denied IMO. Just my thoughts. I welcome yours/everyone else's.

What makes you think that it…

What makes you think that it was an upset? Based on the betting line, the perceived talent/competency of both teams at kickoff, or what? IMO, MSU was better than Michigan last year, despite the same # of wins.

Based on what? What makes…

Based on what? What makes you think we could hang with Baylor or Gonzaga without livers? I am not even sure we could with him; definitely not Baylor.

Not so sure about that…

Not so sure about that. Michigan looked pretty mediocre against elite backcourts (Illinois and OSU) this year. I don’t see how they keep up with Gonzaga and Baylor offensive efficiency. They may keep it close against Gonzaga, but I think Baylor would have dusted Michigan *AT* full strength by about 10-15.

lol, I mean, ok? Tom Izzo has 2 final fours and like 4-5 big championships since 2015. So, suck it, Izzo? Cool.

those jump stop floater/shots are deceptively difficult bunnies to make; momentum generally carries the ball to the back of the rim. I think the tragedy of that 3-1 fast break was Campbell not oopin' it to the guy on the other side of the rim.

I haven't had one in ages, but I was told that ever since MillerCoors/Molson Coors acquired the manufacturer, cost-cutting took hold...and well, yup. Not trying another. I'd prefer to remember it how it once was....
