NU season ticket holder here. The new stadium is entirely privately funded and they're lowering the capacity - of an already small stadium by something like 12k. The crowds are generally really well-behaved even when entering and leaving the stadium. (OSU, as the author notes, is probably the exception.) If the neighbors don't like this proposal they won't like anything.
Completely out of curiosity, what level did you reach in your playing days and what position did you play? You'll probably agree with me that old offensive linemen generally share a bit of a bond.
(As for me, played center and a little tackle in high school, then tackle/guard at a D-3 college. I was a D-3 offensive line coach for a year and then decided to give up on it and move on to a more stable/lucrative profession.)
Those two incorrect fumble rulings at the game in Champaign in 2000. I believe the Big Ten issued an apology the following week. Michigan won 35-31. Not a huge game, but IIRC the errors were pretty obvious to everyone but the officials and would have all but ensured an Illini win. Michigan also ended up that season tied atop the Big Ten (with Northwestern and Purdue), so a loss would have bumped them down to 3rd in the conference.
I can't create a post but thought some might be interested in this article about Adidas and their plans to expand their US footprint. A bidding war for UM's contract would be nice given all of the shiny new (expensive) coaches, but I for one would advocate either Nike or UnderArmour making a stand for the winningest program in college football. Either way, notice that the article doesn't talk at all about product quality as a possibly culprit in the current failings of Adidas - just marketing.
Soldier Field is small but the sightlines are generally very good - you always feel close to the action. The tailgating is good, but the stadium can be a pain to get to. Dress for the weather - being so close to the lake, it can get chilly in the stadium.
I'm not sure how they'll be now with the Bears being so bad, but watch out for the Bears fans. I mind my own business and don't do anything to agitate others...but I've been spit on, cursed at, and offered fights on multiple occasions. I don't go to Soldier Field much anymore just because I don't like putting up with that stuff and don't want to give my money to that organization.

I knew I needed to make a list, and this is a pretty comprehensive start. It also really hit home that I'll need tell him about Denard - it'll be past tense for him a few years from how. Man, I'm going to miss that guy. "Why'd they call him 'Shoelace', Dad...?"
1) The MGoMrs had our first kid (a boy!) last week, so this weekend will likely be pretty tame and sleep-deprived. I'm already making plans with another M fan to start getting this boy indoctrinated into all things Michigan. First up, a viewing of Woodson's interception against MSU. Seemed like a good place to start. Hopefully he'll be in the class of 2020, likely a tackle or heady LB. (Div 3 OT here...but you always hope for better for your kids.)
2) I've not backpacked before.
3) I know one other - knew him already.
4) Velveeta on Wonder Bread, RIP. Now, American on wheat with turkey and some tabasco tossed in.
I'd think the maturity/integrity part might rule out Max Bullough too, though I'm sure he was extra-tenacious when attempting to elude those Colorado officers last year. Oh well...glad we have Kovacs. Good story, him.
It appears that the Glasgows are from Marmion Military Academy. As a football alumni of the Suburban Catholic Conference - now the Suburban Christian Conference - myself, I can tell you that he played in the same conference as our own Kyle Bosch. (As well as Nebraska '12 4* WR Jordan Westerkamp.) You'll recognize one conference member - Montini Catholic - as the team that Ty Isaac ran roughsod over in last year's state championship game. Other notable alums of the conference are Bryan Bulaga and Brad Childress.
Not bad for a group of relatively small schools. I'm sure this is useless information for a lot of you, but as a former Div. 3 OL, I'm proud to see these schools producing some quality OL - and passing them along to the B1G.
Given his blistering 40-yard-dash at the combine, maybe they pick up Martin as a slot guy. God help the safety that tries to blow him up over the middle.
I'd agree with this. Additionally, there is going to be a ton of pressure on RGIII to perform with minimal talent around him. This doesn't tend to lend itself to success.
I agree with the earlier poster - with the extra picks, STL could be very dangerous in the coming years...if they play their cards right. And Fisher will.

Played HS football (same conference as Kyle Bosch), four years of D3 football, one year as a D3 assistant coach. Then I had to get a real job. I didn't go to Michigan, but have been a lifelong fan on account of my family being from Michigan. I decided I'd rather play football in college, but was too small for any D1 offers. So now I guess I'm a "Walmart Wolverine". Whatever.
Looking forward to being a part of the community. You dudes are hilarious.
