I feel like the floor is a NIT squad minus catastrophic injuries. This is a remarkable turnaround from where the program was a month ago.

DeJean to the Lions would…

DeJean to the Lions would work for me. I wouldnt be as ecstatic as some fans would be for it I dont think though. He definitely isn't a full time CB for a team trying to play press man; which is the only reason he has a shot to fall to 29. But I think he could be an all pro as a FS with the versatility to play a couple different secondary spots if need be.

SpotHero is a great little…

SpotHero is a great little app for going to bigger cities during events. It will show you a lot of parking lots, some I never thought of/knew about as a Detroiter, with prices and you can reserve and pay for on app. Everything is on a map grid so its a great to way to compare parking prices and snag a spot in the general area you want.

It would be about a 1.5 mile walk (QLine is in the area) but you typically can find free street parking further up Woodward, a bit north of Little Caesars arena. The side streets between Woodward & John R and street parking on John R itself are free and typically available. I was able to find a spot there during the Thanksgiving Parade for the Lions game that afternoon and there were a looooot of people downtown that day.

Get there a smidge earlier…

Get there a smidge earlier than planned and go walk around the casino for 20 minutes, throw a few dollars onto a slot machine then head off. I have a friend who does this on event days as I believe they want the parking to be for people playing at the casino -- so if you do a little quick gamble you qualify as.

I get what youre saying but…

I get what youre saying but I will believe Michigan will consistently call read option plays (where the QB keeping is actually an option) and designed QB runs when I see it.

You can't sit him on the bench for two seasons or he won't be here for the third. If he can come onto the court and knock down some open looks I think hell see time as a freshman. He would have probably played 15-20mpg on last years guard-less roster.

I was excited until I saw he was a sophmore. This one probably isn't happening.

I got my Michigan stuff off…

I got my Michigan stuff off fanatics with a free shipping code. But they charged handling separately. Im sorry but I dont think Ive seen shipping & handling separated with their own individual charges ever. What a shady hustle.

As a year long draft…

As a year long draft follower it sure is exciting to be drafting to make a championship run as opposed to trying to restock the coffers. Hasn't happened much (ever) in my life as a Lions fan.

Ive been banging the Newton drum for two years and the fact the Lions actually may be able to get him without a trade up blows my mind. Hes been the best interior pass rusher in the NCAA the last two seasons and Im so very thankful he didnt participate in predraft stuff. PFF still has him as a top 15 prospect but most everyone else has him slipping into the mid to late 20s.

I think DeJean is this class' best safety. Thats why he has a shot to slide down to the Lions pick. His athleticism really shines in zone coverage but when pressed into man to man those hips sure look stiff. But considering the Lions currently have 3 safeties on the roster and none are really proven that would be just fine.

Ive already told a friend I will eat a lemon if the Lions draft at pick 29. As you said Holmes wheels and deals. If someone he really likes falls into the low to mid 20's I can certainly see a trade up. That said, outside of a major slip, the prospects in the 25-50 range don't really appear to be separated by much. This is a seriously deep draft.

Personally I really like Kneeland at 61. Seems like a legitimate 3 down lineman who also possesses further pass rush upside. With a surely Campbell approved motor. Holmes did really reiterated at the combine how the offensive line is the calling card of the Lions though. We possess the oldest line in the league. I will be surprised if we leave this draft with less than 2 OL drafted.

Cant wait for draft week!

SLC is a less than exciting…

SLC is a less than exciting place to be. And their airport is way too big.

It seems quite unlikely that…

It seems quite unlikely that we add another 10 scholarship players this offseason. I don't get why people seem so worried about Jace here on a scholarship for one more season; it isnt costing us anything.

About fucking time.

About fucking time.

I'll never forget how much…

I'll never forget how much Michigan fans wrote off Eli Brooks after his first two years. Basically non stop negativity for years... and Eli then became one of the most important players on our team for multiple seasons.

Don't write off freshman and don't pay mind to jaded asshole fans.

Certainly a selling point to…

Certainly a selling point to recruits !

Maybe he was a good X's & O…

Maybe he was a good X's & O's coach back in the day. But that day has long gone out the window. Kentucky barely even runs an offense and just tries to out athlete everyone, all the time.

Ive been enjoying Benetti…

Ive been enjoying Benetti. Good sense of humor and makes C Mo have to break his script and think/laugh often. Loved when they were going around razzing coats in the crowd at the Mets game yesterday.

Tschetter's floor seems to be as a solid rotation player so Ill certainly take that on the roster.

Id keep an eye on transfers out of Oklahoma State as well since we hired their former coach Boymton/Boynton.

A lot of people are really, really high on Nabers. Him being drafted ahead of MHJ would certainly be a surprise but probably not as big of one as a lot of fans would think it were.

Hed be an  exceptional UDFA for sure.

Interested to see where…

Interested to see where Zinter ultimately gets drafted. I know PFF and some other sites have him in the 5th round, which seems a little low. That said I also think the 3rd might be a bit high.

Henderson in the 7th could be a steal after he gets moved back to G. Wasnt he considered a day 2 or 3 prospect after his last season at guard for ASU?

I hate this offseason

I hate this offseason

See thats why I dont want…

See thats why I dont want him to go to the Patriots. Theyre surely less hateable with Belichick gone but I think its going to take another decade of mediocrity for me to get neutral on the Pats again. Its also insanely easy to root against Boston/New England sports. For me at least.

I'll take anything over 99%…

I'll take anything over 99% of kickoffs going out the back of the end zone for a touch back.

Ah but youre forgetting…

Ah but youre forgetting about the NCAA's 'People who arent Michigan are allowed to have nice things' policy.

This seems like about the…

This seems like about the best hire we could have made at this point in time. The people who honestly thought we were making runs at guys like Wright or Calipari are pretty silly. On many levels. Im happy to see what May can do with the program.

This just sounds like an all around not fun time.

Im not getting my hopes up about any particular candidate because I know we won't hire who I think I want.

Wasn't this the Moore hire we were most excited about lol

So there are a ton of hotels…

So there are a ton of hotels off Stephenson Hwy between 13 & 15 mile in Madison Heights/Troy. There are entrances to I-75 right at both 14 &12 mile off of Stephenson. You can hop right on the highway and be downtown in 20 minutes no problem.

Big money saver compared to looking for hotels in Detroit when events are going down.

Still forever a fan of Juwan. Really wish he would have worked out.

Hang the banners.

All of it, really.

All of it, really.

I think Brad is more best…

I think Brad is more best fit available than he is BPA. Neither Gibbs nor Campbell were BPA when they were drafted last year. But they fit the character mold and team dynamic that Holmes was looking to fill.

Guys like Thibodeaux and Jalen Carter werent even on the Lions board while being bpa for a lot of the league when they were drafted. Ive read Bralen Trice & T'Vondre Sweat are like that this draft, regardless if theyre BPA or not the Lions will pass as they dont see them as culture fits.

I suppose you could still call it BPA, just the Lions board likely looks a lot different then many other teams.

The Chargers fan base of…

The Chargers fan base of course! Though that is because it doesnt exist.

After trading pick 93 for…

After trading pick 93 for Carlton Davis I don't think the Lions are trading any more picks for players. Though I feel like Id rather of traded 29 for Snead & a new contract than a 3rd of whats likely a 1 year rental of Davis; who has struggled the last couple seasons.

Most of these college…

Most of these college tackles are NFL guards. Morgan is best suited to playing inside in the NFL but does have enough athleticism some teams will give him a shot at OT. In the Lions case he would start out at guard and be a possible Decker replacement down the line outside at tackle.

29 is not a good spot for…

29 is not a good spot for the Lions. They will either end up drafting BPA which will not address the teams biggest needs or they will reach for a guy ranked in the 40'ish range. Ultimately Ill be quite surprised if Detroit ends up drafting at 29, I think Holmes is going to end up trading up or down.

Robinson out of Missouri to me fills the same role as Josh Paschal. DE/DT tweener who lacks outside pass rush abilities. Id take a shot on him in the mid 2nd round but a sturdy run defending DE without a ton of pass rush upside doesnt scream 1st round pick to me. The Lions are supposedly higher on Marshawn Kneeland out of WMU than they are Robinson. I think Kneeland has more potential while likely having a lower floor.

There are a group of CB's who are all in that early 2nd range. Kool-Aid, TJ Tampa, Ennis Rakestraw, even Khyree Jackson & Kamari Lassiter are pretty much just behind them. I would rather not be the first team to select from that group and take one at 29 -- though probably none of them will be available at 61.

Detroit Lions trade their…

Detroit Lions trade their 3rd round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for CB Carlton Davis and 6th round picks in the 24 & 25 drafts.

Davis was in the bottom half of the leagues CB's last season according to PFF, # 68 of 127 eligible players. Tampa couldnt afford him after the Evans and Mayfield deals so they're probably pretty happy about getting a 3rd for a potential cut candidate. Feel like a comparable, albeit likely older, CB could have been found in FA without giving up draft capital.
