Ah, memories.

Yeah, reminds me of 92 and 93.

I missed the tear gas by about five minutes.

GOOD TIMES.

Well..

Rumor is a second player committed tonight. Not sure who that would be...

Awesome

Huge pickup, #1 target in our defensive backfield. Got to love it.

Before 2000

If you go back to that class, Terrell and Walker were #1 and #2 WR in the nation, if I recall.

Re:

Awesome.

FWIW, GoBlueNorth...I went to high school with your wife ;-)

Well...

That worked out well...for Harbaugh.

HUGE

Huge pickup for us.  Top Center prospect on our board, should have been a long drawn out battle with OSU.

I agree

Yeah, I agree...I bet there are a lot more than 2,500.  The problem is people like me...who have never gone to one of these meetings.

If we lose all three...

If we lose all three, then things get interesting.

Can Levert make the jump next year that Stuaskas made this year (or even, say, 75% of the jump)?

Can Irvin replace GRIII?

Can Chatman/Doyle/Donnal step it up?

And is Horford really a starter?

I think if we lose all 3, we are probably a 20 win team, maybe a 6 seed or so next year.  Not bad, all things considered.

And if any of the sophs return..that is just a cherry on top.

Other sources

Other sources have shot this down.  Let this rumor die quickly.

Just for the record

For the record, what was our stats last year?

I don't care that much...

..because regardless, I can't seem him at UM.

No way.

I refuse to believe this.

LOL

My freshman year at UM...Desmond and I had a poli sci class together.

No idea

No idea why he is retiring.  I am a political wonk, and this is definitely a bit of a surprise.  He would be favored to keep his seat next year.

Re: ND

Brian here did a post a couple years ago how ND was perfect...a school that has big prestige, but that we generally dominate.

Going to be tough to replace that combination.

Meh.

With two weeks left, should be fine.

2014?

Are we sure this is a 2015 guy?

Bama lock.

If he is in AA (and it looks like he is), it is probably because he was happening to visit anyway.  But...weird.

Shouldn't surprise

Shouldn't surprise anyone.  That rumor has been out for a while.  Basically it is Fournette or bust, with Ballage being still recruited as a RB/athlete.

As for..

As for the third transgression, sounds like a 2013 Freshman is suspended or something...may have to do with a drinking charge.  It sounds minor.

Re: Winovich

Couple comments make it sound like even if he does commit, he would be 'soft'.

Not true.  One reason for his hesitancy is his school really hates decommitments...so Chase, if committed, likely is committed for the long haul.

Um...right

Look, I am an avowed Webber fan, have said so many times.

But Webber owes the Univ an apology.  Any offense the university did to him was minor in comparison.

Yes, he is eligible, but...

Ryan is eligible for the medical redshirt. But it is far from automatic.  Furthermore, it gets sticky...if the NCAA thinks he is ready to play this year, they may dismiss the application for that reason too.

So if he is fit to play, he is better off playing.

Yes, please

There is really no downside to this, assuming we have schollie space.  This is a no brainer.

Don't feel that bad.

I actually don't feel that bad.  I know, I should, but I don't.  I think this is the first step to bigger and better things.

My gut tells me that only Burke is going to leave.  THJ did not have a good tournament...would he even be a first rounder?

I think we are going to be pretty good next year.  How good depends on how fast our freshmen develop.

Easy...

ANXIETY

Feel your pain

Working at 5 AM this morning, and tomorrow too.  Tomorrow is going to really suck to recover after the game...much more if we dont win.

But as for productivity...yeah, today is going to be like the day before Christmas vacation, me thinks.

Pathetic.

Just, pathetic.

I was...

Near the tear gas in 1992.

Pallante

Is a greyshirt.

Yeah, give him a year or two in Mattison's system...he could really be an impact pickup.

Re: Chris Webber

I have said this before, but I think it bares repeating.

I entered Michigan in the fall of 1991 like Webber and the Fab Five.  I grew up in Southfield, MI, and had a lot of friends at Country Day when Webber was there....so we knew each other.  I would not say we would be called friends, but definitely acquaintenances.  And I had met Jalen Rose before I even knew he was going to Michigan.

We had common friends in Ann Arbor as well, and I had been to several parties with members of the Fab 5.

When Webber was there, he lived the life of a poor student. I know now he took money while there, but he was not driving around in a Cadillac or throwing money around.  That simply was not the reality.

What this letter says, and what many of us that were around at that time, is NOT to excuse what Webber did.  He broke the rules, no question.  But in hindsight, look at his punishment, and then look at others that have done similar things.  Did Webber really commit a crime greater than Reggie Bush, Cam Newton, and some of these others?  And did they ever suffer as much from this as he has?

So to say that Webber should not be 'punished' is silly.  He has been punished.  In fact, I would argue he and the University of Michigan were punished far more than equivalent offenses elsewhere.

The question really is, can we at some point forgive?  20 years have gone by.  TWENTY YEARS.  Look at the people in society we have forgiven.  This week, there was news that a former terrorist partially responsible for the deaths of three men in the 1960s was given a prestigious professorship at Columbia University.  We can forgive murder but not this?

We need to move on.  Webber should apologize for what he did, but UM should accept his apology and bring him back into the fold.  That is the only way this episode ever ends, and the circle is complete.

I hear...

I hear John Wooden's great great granddaughter was next on their list.

WOW

I didn't think it was possible to downgrade from Howland, but I am pretty sure this might be it.

Tom Crean

Tom Crean...coach of the year.

Yes.

Has any of the candidates had a signature game like this?  I think not.  Burke was already the odds on favorite...this just insures it.

I think Nate Silver or someone...

Someone calculated the chance of getting a bracket 100% right at 1 in 7 trillion.

AWESOME

Really excited about that class.

Not the best bracket...

but not the worst.

This is a winnable bracket for Michigan.  The only thing better would have been OSU's bracket, but that would have been on the road.

I still think UM is 'high risk, high reward'.  They could lose the first game, if not careful, but if they get on a run, they can beat anyone.  There is nobody in the country that we can't beat on a good day.

No doubt

We suck on the road, and are good at home.  We want to be a 3 in Auburn Hills.

OSU

OSU people thought he was a heavy lean.  Universally.

Um...

WOW.

Reader alternatives

Here is a nice article about the most popular alternatives.

LOL

Very, very true.

As for the weather...

As for the weather, Columbus is a LOT warmer than Michigan.  It is not even close.  This year has been relatively snowy, and I had to shovel...once.  It is only the third time I really shoveled in my 6 years here.

Columbus

I have lived in Columbus (specifically, Dublin) since 2007.

Columbus is really a decent town, especially if you have family.  Housing is cheap and high quality, good schools, etc.  The job climate is good here, and the economy never got as bad as other places in Ohio.  Pretty decent choices of restaurants, shopping, a decent bar scene, etc.

As for Buckeye fans...yeah, they are as bad as you can imagine.  But I ALWAYS wear my Michigan gear.  Everywhere.  And you would be surprised at how many 'Go Blue' references I get. There are a fair number of us down here.

So, yeah, it sucks when we lose, it is awesome when we win.  I wouldn't let the Buckeye thing be the deciding factor though.

Depending on where 1 hour north you are working (up 23?  71?) the northern suburbs are the nicest suburbs, and there are a lot of nice choices for housing.

Woohoo!

Awesome.

Absolutely.

I am older than a lot of you; not old enough to remember Cazzie by a long stretch.

But Burke is probably the best point guard in Michigan history.  And a top 10 all time player.  Hell, could you imagine if this was the old days, and he stayed for four years, how good he could be?

Now, whether Burke is top 5 all time, and the next five, really depends on how the tournament goes.  That is where GOAT make their mark.

Win out.

Win out, then lets talk about seeding.
