Agree with the above...but even at Amsterdam, a 1 hour lay over is tough.  Don't be shocked if you miss it. 

Ryan is eligible for the medical redshirt. But it is far from automatic.  Furthermore, it gets sticky...if the NCAA thinks he is ready to play this year, they may dismiss the application for that reason too.  

So if he is fit to play, he is better off playing. 

I actually don't feel that bad.  I know, I should, but I don't.  I think this is the first step to bigger and better things.

My gut tells me that only Burke is going to leave.  THJ did not have a good tournament...would he even be a first rounder?

I think we are going to be pretty good next year.  How good depends on how fast our freshmen develop.

I have said this before, but I think it bares repeating. 

I entered Michigan in the fall of 1991 like Webber and the Fab Five.  I grew up in Southfield, MI, and had a lot of friends at Country Day when Webber was there....so we knew each other.  I would not say we would be called friends, but definitely acquaintenances.  And I had met Jalen Rose before I even knew he was going to Michigan.

We had common friends in Ann Arbor as well, and I had been to several parties with members of the Fab 5.  

When Webber was there, he lived the life of a poor student. I know now he took money while there, but he was not driving around in a Cadillac or throwing money around.  That simply was not the reality. 

What this letter says, and what many of us that were around at that time, is NOT to excuse what Webber did.  He broke the rules, no question.  But in hindsight, look at his punishment, and then look at others that have done similar things.  Did Webber really commit a crime greater than Reggie Bush, Cam Newton, and some of these others?  And did they ever suffer as much from this as he has?

So to say that Webber should not be 'punished' is silly.  He has been punished.  In fact, I would argue he and the University of Michigan were punished far more than equivalent offenses elsewhere. 

The question really is, can we at some point forgive?  20 years have gone by.  TWENTY YEARS.  Look at the people in society we have forgiven.  This week, there was news that a former terrorist partially responsible for the deaths of three men in the 1960s was given a prestigious professorship at Columbia University.  We can forgive murder but not this?

We need to move on.  Webber should apologize for what he did, but UM should accept his apology and bring him back into the fold.  That is the only way this episode ever ends, and the circle is complete. 

I didn't think it was possible to downgrade from Howland, but I am pretty sure this might be it. 

Has any of the candidates had a signature game like this?  I think not.  Burke was already the odds on favorite...this just insures it.

I have lived in Columbus (specifically, Dublin) since 2007.

Columbus is really a decent town, especially if you have family.  Housing is cheap and high quality, good schools, etc.  The job climate is good here, and the economy never got as bad as other places in Ohio.  Pretty decent choices of restaurants, shopping, a decent bar scene, etc. 

As for Buckeye fans...yeah, they are as bad as you can imagine.  But I ALWAYS wear my Michigan gear.  Everywhere.  And you would be surprised at how many 'Go Blue' references I get. There are a fair number of us down here. 

So, yeah, it sucks when we lose, it is awesome when we win.  I wouldn't let the Buckeye thing be the deciding factor though. 

Depending on where 1 hour north you are working (up 23?  71?) the northern suburbs are the nicest suburbs, and there are a lot of nice choices for housing. 

I am older than a lot of you; not old enough to remember Cazzie by a long stretch.  

But Burke is probably the best point guard in Michigan history.  And a top 10 all time player.  Hell, could you imagine if this was the old days, and he stayed for four years, how good he could be?

Now, whether Burke is top 5 all time, and the next five, really depends on how the tournament goes.  That is where GOAT make their mark. 

We are recruiting him at RB, and that is his preferred position. 

Tressel was a terrible offensive coach.  Why the hell would he be the OC?

Campbell is a potential monster.

Hunt is visiting this weekend.  Basically they are giving Hunt first option. 

That is appropriate for what we accomplished.

Things did not break our way all year.  We lost Stonum, an OL, and the Fitz.  Then Countess went down.  We didn't get any breaks...basically all the close games other than MSU went against us.  Then Denard got hurt, and we moved our best WR to QB.  That is a tough slog. 

I am optimistic going forward though.

Kugler tweeted something positive about Hunt yesterday.  

I think Hunt is very interested, and I think he is on top of the coaches list too.  He is my personal favorite for our 6th OL.

I don't think Hoke's policy is to insure every player becomes a Wolverine.  Hoke is trying to insure that the promise kept by him and the kid are true...that is all.  And if kids waver, so be it...and if they come back fully committed, all the better.

As long as the coaches are good with it, so am I. Dawson didn't act very mature, but he is a 17 year old kid, and our coaches should treat him as such. Giving him a second chance is the right thing to do.

I totally agree about our OL talent...that is why I think, even if we lose Lewan, we will probably be better next year.  Yes, I know, we will be playing a bunch of first year starters, but I think most of them are more talented than the guys that we have starting now.  And I think trading Mags for Lewan will not be a huge dropoff everyone thinks. 

WR are going to be ok, I think especially with the new guys coming up.  Even at RB, I think we will be ok, though I would love to have Green...I think he is a gamechanger.

This happens whenever students rush the field, and go crazy.  The first job is to worry about safety...they can shake hands whenever.

I believe in Beilein.  None of these recruits bother me anymore. 

Rutgers frankly is not a bad expansion candidate.  Basically the equivalent of a state school, academically strong, although their athletics are mediocre.  They add just enough of the east coast markets to be valuable.

I am just against expansion is all.  

Georgia Tech would be a boon.  Great academic school, expand the market into Atlanta, great football tradition.

That said, after seeing K state and Oregon, what makes ND so bad?

Look, our DL isn't going to be great, but they are probably OK.  They were facing potentially FOUR all Americans.  We don't even have 1 all american on our DL.  We won't face anything like that again all year.

Kudos to the OP.  Because this is the most thought provoking post I have seen in a long time.  I have to agree...i am not big on 'claiming' titles...but this one has merit.

A TV ban, for example...that is ludicrous.  So when OSU plays PSU, they won't show it??  Really?

Ohio State offers McCray...and he drops. 

Smith is an excellent back.  But like other schools (OSU, USC), if you need RBs, you don't just take one.   USC is on the verge of taking THREE this year alone, with limited scholarships.  That should tell you all you need to know about how to recruit RBs. 

A lot of talk about very little.  The prosecutor would be stupid to move forward too far in this case.   It is barely a misdemeanor. 

I have not seen a news report yet.

I  understand the banners.

But not recognizing the other four members of that group, who did nothing wrong, is also unfair.  They were, as far as we can tell, model student athletes and have been good citizens after they left.  Why should they be punished?

Forget the banners, and forget Webber.  The other guys deserve to be rewarded for good behavior.

If the coaches didn't impress this upon them.  I have heard of no official rule, like Urban did at Ohio, but it is smarter to avoid the whole issue. 

First, we will see if Ty Isaac takes a pass this week.  I am sure he was told that we might not be able to wait to take someone.  I think we would take Isaac no matter what, even late, but he has hinted that he wants to be the only RB in the class.  It is sort of a game of chicken...the coaches are not forcing him to commit, but basically are making it clear that they can't wait forever either. 

Deveon Smith is my favorite of the rest...power back, would fit into the system nicely.  I would actually be surprised if he didn't commit soon.

Green is a great back, but no way he commits at this point in the process.

Ohio is simply taking a strategy of offering their 'national' recruits before good state players.  I think we are seeing that with McCray and others. 

I wonder what chance we have, with him committing the week after he visits us.  No idea what this means. 

Really tough question.

I was at Michigan during that era.  In fact, I knew Webber, casually.  So I have a lot of nostalgia for that era.

That said....Webber has made it tough to forgive him.  If he had come out, revealed everything, explained his mistakes...I think it would be easier to forgive and forget.  The other guys have all been honest about their time...but Chris simply can't do it.  He feels betrayed, but doesn't see that betrayal works both ways.

So I don't know.  Even now.  I think overall, the fan base is ambivalent.

My friends in Texas said it was just a matter of time before Texas offered too.  That is what made me feel this kid was the real deal. 

Living here in Cbus, it is surprising how many Michigan fans there are.  Definitely a small number, but considering the fanaticism down here, more than you would expect. 

He is simply a kid that doesn't want to play for Michigan.

His loss...time to move on.  I am moving on with a few beers.  All is well. 

And those numbers worked out great for us in the Armani Reeves chase...

This will be over soon (though Kozan is still out there...dammit.)

One quick point...Diamond wasn't even ALIVE when Juwan made that statement...which means, I am REALLY old.

He reaffirmed yesterday after the coaching announcement. 

He has got to still be a Va Tech lean...that said, always good to get him on campus early. 

Kozan could project as a center. 

And the coaches always wanted a total of 3 more, with the net loss of Stacey.  

OSU fans are pretty confident that he ends up with them.  

I think this one is probably a tossup because of Wisky's coaching changes...otherwise, he would be a badger.

I said this elsewhere, but as fans we have no right to be angry at Garnett.

Pipkins on the other hand probably was told something, and now feels, well, betrayed.  We don't have that info, but if he wants to be angry, he has that personal right.  

Denman is more likely to go to Columbus than to visit us.

Muller I have no idea about.

Hamilton is  probably a Florida lock now.

I don't know...there always could be something out of left field, but who can predict that?

My guesses, and there are only guesses:  we get Diamond and Garnett, don't get Reeves or Kozan. And even on Reeves, I go back and forth daily, or hourly.
