I can haz execution plz?

Prty plz?

Ughh...

This is exactly why I no longer follow recruiting as closely as I used to. You used to be able to take a young man at his word. A commitment on a recruiting weekend should ALWAYS be interpreted as "I had a good time".

Uh oh...

The Middle of Nowhere called and said State College is bullshit.
<br>
<br>Srsly...I went to school in Pittsburgh and attended many football games/concerts in State College, and even though it was a two and a half hour ride in the middle of the night, the first thing we did after each and every event was leave. State College is a piece of shit.

There in lies the rub...

That's a big "IF" too. Why didn't M go out and spend a million on the best DC money could buy?
<br>
<br>I'll tell you:
<br>Because the LC cronies' dirty hands are all over it. I'm not even one hundred percent convinced RR would have been brought back regardless of how this season played out. I mean, barring winning a B1G championship, what have we seen over the past three weeks that lead any of us to believe this wasn't a decision made when Denard threw his first pick against Michigan State?

Touché.

Nice...

Exactly.

This is an absolute joke of a hire. Not only is he less qualified, he brings in a totally different scheme which will run off the single most electrifying athlete to ever play at this damn school. SHAME.

Yes.

Yes they do. You cannot look at BSU's or TCU's numbers and say "Wow! Look what they can do!" Much in the same way a shit B1G team can go to a shit conference and pad stats, you cannot say that great stats in a shit conference equals success with the big boys. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Weeeeeee!

I love stats comparing the Big Ten and the MWC. Can we do it again?
<br>
<br>:eyeroll:

Here's the Cliff's Notes:

DB fired RR.
<br>
<br>DB hires Hoke, but doesn't tell anyone.
<br>
<br>DB pretends to do a bunch of stuff, despite having secret Skype sessions with Brady Hoke at night where they show each other their penises.
<br>
<br>JH takes SF job.
<br>
<br>DB pretends to do more stuff, despite sending his used undies to Hoke through FedEx.
<br>
<br>Les Miles stays at LSU.
<br>
<br>DB exhales as this exhausting process can finally close.
<br>
<br>Hoke officially hired as coach.
<br>
<br>Reoccurring themes:
<br>Lies.
<br>Laziness.
<br>Jet fuel.
<br>"Michigan Man".
<br>I hate Mike Valenti.
<br>I hate Terry Foster.
<br>Jon Gruden.
<br>FedEx panties.
<br>Terrible hires.
<br>

I love Michigan...

give me the job.
<br>
<br>Loving a school is not a qualification at this level of athletics. This dude is unproven, no matter how you slice it. Can you honestly say this dude is an upgrade over RR? Don't forget to take into consideration the fact that the most electrifying player in the history of this damn school will almost assuredly transfer.
<br>
<br>But that's cool...I'll pretend like it's all hunky dory, even though I'm punching a thousand babies in the face on the inside.

Bingo.

This is a FAIL of epic proportions. I mean, honestly, can even RR's biggest critic say that Brady Fucking Hoke is an upgrade?

Agreed.

Not just an inflated contract, but the wasted funds in jet-setting all over the country when a FedExed a bag of Fritos would have done the trick.

IMHO...

the worst part will be when we suck ass under Brady Hoke.

Nope.

That's great though. Doll-hairs is one of those things where no matter how many times I hear it, it still makes me laugh.

Who are your friends?

Maybe we run with the same crowd? Haha.

Where are your sources?

People keep saying that he told his players he'd be back, but other than three athletes who were paraphrasing his post Cotton Bowl statements and providing their own hypothesis as to what he'd do, there is not a single credible source from inside that meeting. Like I said before, Les probably told his players the same thing he's been telling everyone else:
<br>
<br>"I love it here, why would I go anywhere else?"
<br>
<br>This is what is called a non-denial denial. It can be interpreted as, "He's staying" or "I love it here, why would I go anywhere else. Oh yeah, because of cash doll-hairs and it's Michigan". You either read it one of two ways and it's probably based on which school's colors you wear on Saturdays. People need to stop saying that he promised his players to be back, because it just gives the uninformed haters more stones to throw at the guy who is probably going to be our next coach.

Thanks...

for keeping it real. :eyeroll:

This show...

is dumb as fuck.

That, my good man...

is a post of epic proportions. Fine job, fine job indeed.

Well...

if we thought we'd never see anything uglier than our coaching search...
<br>
<br>Yikes.

Fixed...

"He's going to interview University of Florida OC Charlie Weis."
<br>

Yes.

Yes it is.

GPH...

...is the Mosby, Clay County Airport in Missouri. Sheesh, get your facts straight.

Interesting...

flight tracker says that's where the mgoplane is headed after the stop in Baton Rouge.

Yep...

that'll do it.

And....

we have the winner! Thanks for playing everyone!
<br>
<br>/thread

If Les takes the UM job...

someone has a lot of editing to do.

UM Coaching Tree...

HC - James Earl Jones
<br>OC - Mike Wallace
<br>DC - David Alan Grier
<br>ST - Barry Larkin
<br>Head Trainer - Sanjay Gupta
<br>
<br>Obviously...this is a ridiculous suggestion. Everyone knows David Alan Grier prefers to coach the Offense.
<br>
<br>Get on it DB!

The Black Keys...

qualify as great distraction FWIW. SNL.

Yes...

...when you don't have all of your bases covered when you should....

Lol...really...

We're just now seeking permission to talk to him? Ughh, maybe I don't know shit, but as AD, I would have had the ground troops seeking permission for him, and any other possible candidates, weeks ago...you know...just in case.

Mhpangr...

is a dirty pirate hooker.

Rhode Island...

is neither a road, nor an island.  Discuss.

None taken...

but these quotes are paraphrased to the point of almost unreadability.  Is the writer quoting Jeffries quoting Miles?  Is the writer quoting Jeffries paraphrasing Miles?

They have rumors going around about (me) going to Michigan, but it's not true.

Ok, great.  The rumor was that he had already accepted the job at Michigan.  He says nothing about not accepting the job tomorrow.

We respect our coach, and this is our coach for right now, and we're going to enjoy him as long as we can. Coach Miles is a Tiger. This is his group of guys, and he's proud of us. I think this is where he will be next year.

"For right now..."  "I think..."  Great kid, no one asked you what you think.  We want to know what he said.

Very poorly thrown together if you ask me.   Even if Miles addressed his team with these quotes, they still read as more nondenial-denials than actual denials.

Again...speculation...but...

if the rumors are true and his number two guy was/is Brady Hoke, I would say it's entirely possible that he has feelers out here in the blogosphere.  Hoke is not a popular and uniting choice among fans and alumni.  If Hoke is DB's guy, and he doesn't measure approval, then where is he and why wasn't he announced as HC two milliseconds after JH took the SF job?

I'm not convinced...

that Les Miles informed his team of his intention to do anything, whether it be stay or leave.  I can almost guarantee that what he did say was the same thing he's been saying to the media since about two hours before last night's game:

"(LSU) is a wonderful place.  I love it here."

This is in no way a commitment to returning to LSU.  Considering this is what he has said REPEATEDLY for almost 24 hours now, I can only imagine it is, verbatim, what he said to his players.  If they are misinterpreting this information as a commitment to LSU, then that's their problem, but as of right now, no one is saying anything about confirmed quotes from the meeting.

Jon Gruden's Wikipedia page...

now reads something like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Gruden#University_of_Michigan_speculation

"On January 8, 2011, it was reported that Jon Gruden and Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon were spotted together poolside at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. Gruden was enjoying a Draft Beer, while Brandon played the fiddle and drank Pina Coladas. No word as to whether or not any talk of the Michigan job took place, but the two were reported to be singing Hail to the Victors while pinching young coed's behinds."

Almost the same thing?

My brother worked at Mancino's.  He once brought me home his leftover Chicken Parmesan sub.

The Domino's plane is...

currently in Vegas. Maybe they're floating around the lazy river at Hard Rock together, drinking foofoo drinks...or more likely, some young Domino's executive is flying around in the company plane and stopped in Scottsdale to pick up some young who-ors before flying to Vegas for a weekend coke orgy. My guess is the latter. Gruden is not taking this job.

I doubt very much...

That future schedules have anything to do with a coach's decision to take a job. Not that they've been great hires or anything, but if the schedules were take into account, ND would NEVER have a coach.

Ack.

Dude would be ice fishing or something right now. Good riddance.

Hoke < Tressel (circa 2001)

I know this thread is supposed to provide a sense of calm over the masses. I can definitely appreciate that and applaud the mgoblogger for his perspective.
<br>
<br>However, let's not get carried away with the "Well in that case, Hoke wouldn't be a totally terrible option."
<br>
<br>Hoke has won nothing compared to Tressel (circa 2000).
<br>
<br>Hoke:
<br>Eight seasons as HC, three winning seasons (including one "set the world on fire" 7-6 season)
<br>
<br>1-1 in Bowl Games
<br>
<br>His one "great" team under-achieved and lost the MAC Championship game
<br>
<br>Tressel (circa 2001)
<br>Ten Div I-AA Playoff appearances, six Championship Game appearances, four National Titles
<br>
<br>Fifteen seasons at YSU, only three losing seasons
<br>
<br>I'm not saying Hoke would or wouldn't be a good coach at Michigan. Who can honestly predict that? However, I am saying that while this OSU timeline and apparent fan backlash may be slightly encouraging and calming for perspective purposes, it should not be a reason for the Michigan fan base to automatically go "All In For Hoke". Keep it in perspective people!

Funny.

" Football games are not the fucking be all, end all in my life."
<br>
<br>And yet, here you are with the rest of us, on a Football themed message board on a Friday night before the bars close. Interesting is all.

Entirely speculative of course...

But the timeline leaves me scratching my head. Based on how soon after the Cotton Bowl we heard the news, one can assume that DB and LM have been in talks since before the Gator Bowl. Meaning, the result of that game probably factored very little in the decision regarding RR. If that's the case, then why wasn't some sort of move made post OSU, pre Gator debacle. Some sign of competency that wouldn't have cost us further embarrassment and nearly four weeks of recruiting. I'm not saying Les couldn't have coached LSU in the cotton bowl, but maybe the announcement of his hire at Michigan could have saved some face.
<br>Sorry, it's late, this whole thing has me resorting to paragraphs of random streaming consciousness, and for that I apologize.
<br>
<br>/rant. /speculation. /brain diarrhea.

What are the odds...

That this was DB's plan all along? He played everything so close to the vest it's hard to say what he was thinking. Rumors swirled that obviously UM was interested in JH, but other than John Clayton saying we offered JH $5.2 mil, I haven't seen anything that said we even contacted him. Also, common perception was that Hoke was DB's guy. If that was true, then why isn't he HC? Even though I'll be very happy with the hire, if any of this speculation is true, I can't say I'm thrilled with the process.

Wha--?!?!

Hoke is out?

FWIW... The Domino's plane...

Just landed in Vegas. DB's prob throwing down some serious cash on who the next HC will be:
<br>
<br>"Um, yes. I'd like to play $10,000 on Jim Harbaugh please.... Wait....what? He did? When? Reeeeeaaaally. Ok, well in that case, I'd like to play $10,000 on Gary Patters---, ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME?!?! Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?!?! Well, I guess I'd just like to up my bet from Tuesday... <sigh> Please add $50 to Brady Hoke...."

John Clayton says

Michigan offered Harbaugh $5.2/year?  Anyone know where he's getting this number from?

Also, I guess any debate as to whether DB was serious about moving the HC's salary from the "middle of the pack" to the top is over...

Agreed

I agree 100% about not caring where they come from.  If a kid can play and he can get in, he could be from the armpit of America and I couldn't care less.  (FYI, I've seen it and it's called Michigan City, IN)

I guess all of this just screams 2007/08 all over again, where we were the last one to the party for Pryor (glad the way it worked out actually) and it was just another situation that left us with a tad of egg on our face.  I suppose it doesn't matter who the coach is because he'll be scrounging as it is.  We might as well have a proven winner who can work with what he has and who will worry about recruiting his players in 2011/12.

I like the idea...but...

I worry about his ties (or lack thereof) in the Midwest. No, it absolutely isn't a deal breaker, but when we're put in a position to fill out a recruiting class in just over three weeks, it'd be nice to know the guy has some tricks up his sleeve on the home front.
<br>
<br>He is, however, Gary Patterson, and he does shit rainbows.
