This is my feeling as well. Shea has hardly been involved in the run game yet. That has to be strategic. And more RPO’s have to be coming. Not taking advantage of aggressive linebackers in the first half. I’m sticking to this hope that it’s all part of the plan to hit them with reads in the 2nd.
And Bushell-Beatty isn’t in so there’s some adjusting from Stueber to overcome for this game.
And let’s not forget how well Don Brown adjusts at half time. We’ve got it close going into the break. No reason to believe we’re out of this (yet).
Godin used to tip a stunt ALL OF THE TIME by lining up a little further back from the LOS. I could pick it out on tv every play. And now: he lines up there consistenly and won't always stunt. Thank you, Coach Mattison!!
I think the call was fine based on how his offense looked when they had to score at the end and how his defense was doing. If it doesn't work, defense can hold them fast and you have a shot at a field goal probably. HOWEVER! The garbage squick kick in the ensuing kick off to screw over your field position is where Sparty shot them selves in the foot. IMO. I can also argue for just tying the game up but I liked the surprising call but hated the kickoff.
For some reason, changing Kovacs' number from #32 to Legends #11 bothered me more than any other change. I think changing Gallon from #10 comes in second place for the "WHYYYYYY?!?!?!?!" Award. Loved Kovacs.
Instead of flying from Rapid City. SD to Minneapolis to home in Nashville, I had to go Rapid City-Salt Lake City-Nashville. Thankfully it only added 5 hrs but I had to do that after a 20+ hr day yesterday and 3 hours of sleep. I'm enjoying being home but today sucked!
I love traveling and listening to music so since I work for an audio company that specializes in touring, I get paid to do all of that while taking care of my artist.
I liked what I saw from Hewlett in limited action - at least with his pass-catching skills. He and Morris connected nicely in the 2-minute drill at the end of the first half. Not enough info to go on (much like the rest of the team since it was spring ball) but it did catch my eye. Not thinking he'll crack the lineup but just that he could be a viable backup in the event of an injury.
Was hoping to see good things from FB Henderson but I kep forgetting to keep an eye out for him so not sure how well he did.
Not yet. One more would need to transfer for Spike to stay (on a scholarship). Doyle's transfer puts Michigan right at 13 scholarships for next year since they were one over the limit.
I think Donnal is the guy most likely to go. His progression after 3 years in has not been good but Doyle could just a combination of sleep apnea and sophomore slump (the second part is generous, I know). He's still young. I think I would rather have Doyle's potential for another season or 2 and see what can happen. However, I wish them all the best.
I agree a bit on the count of numbers at the PG position but I think Spike's leadership overrides the logjam, plus I think it's more of a logjam at the 4/5 positions and I don't see any leadership coming from Doyle/Donnal/Wilson/Chatman (Wagner has some leadership potential along with definite swagger). I would rather lose a redshirt for both Teske & Davis by having room for Spike then otherwise. Just my opinion though
Especially with the leadership and swagger Spike provides - both desperately needed on this team. Maybe 2 of the bigs I mentioned above go. Idk. Would love some more Spike
My money is on one of the guys at the 4 and/or 5 that isn't Irvin or Wagner: Wilson, Chatman, Donnal, or Doyle with Doyle being the least likely in my mind. All have to be wanting playing time and with Teske and Davis coming in, I think one of them will seek PT elsewhere. Hate to see Dawkins go, especially with our (lack of proven) depth on the wings
Sling tv has a Tru-Tv channel in the subscription for March madness season. Can either pay for a month ($20 I think) or do their free 7 day trial (that's what I did this afternoon in preparation)
Depends on what the definition of "work" is. Did the football banquet/dinner thing (men of Troy?) in the preseason count as work? Bc we know what state he showed up in to that event.
Agreed. However, if Jackson is prepared to make "radical"changes to the defense (3-4? 3-3-5? jk) in order for him to feel comfortable calling the shots and Harbaugh knows this, then GMatt makes more sense for the final game of this season and then let Jackson install his thing starting in spring ball. Just a theory. Maybe Jackson will be doing the same thing as Durkin but it would explain Greg for the bowl game and Jackson going forward
I'm hoping they name Jackson the interim for the bowl game so he and Michigan can get a good feel for what that would look like without making a commitment one way or the other. I understand the Mattison pick for interim 100% but this could be an opportunity to see what Jackson is made of (at this point in his career).
If that was all they did, then yes, it's possibly a little overboard to call it a recruiting tactic. However, they got a custom cake FOR THEMSELVES with the player's name on it. That takes it up a notch to "recruiting tactic" level. Hopefully they'll get to eat their cake as well (in the form of a commitment)!!

Yes! This was my first Michigan game so I share for your fondness for its memory
Has anyone pointed out that Patterson throws that backwards pass with his LEFT hand??
