| 1 week 8 hours ago | I used to do this (throw to |
I used to do this (throw to myself as QB and WR) when I was like 9 years old and in my imaginary UM football player phase. I was always John Wangler AND Anthony Carter. It got boring after about 10 minutes since the passing routes were extremely rudimentary and limited to arm punts (had to be high enough) of less than 10-15 yards (couldn't be too far for my limited speed). But it worked almost every time. I had like a 90% completion rate in my imaginary games. I would also keep the imaginary defense off balance by sometimes faking the fullback dive up the middle and naked bootlegging around the vacated defensive end slot. But I was mostly a Wangler to Carter passing offense with killer efficiency. |
| 1 week 9 hours ago | Central time 11 a.m. blues |
I think living in Central time is fantastic for prime time sporting events. I used to hate the 9:30 p.m. start time for championship-level games while living in Eastern zones. I do hate 11 a.m. CFB kickoffs, though. It's just too early to get my juices flowing. I can't imagine living in Pacific land and waking up to football at 9 a.m. My solution for the past few years to 11 a.m. kickoffs is to set the DVR. I go about my business until noonish, make myself some nachos, open a beer, then start watching. I fast forward through the RoTel commercials and the BTN Gerry DiNardo halftime show, then pick up the game live somewhere in the early 2nd half. I will admit that it didn't initially feel right to ignore a Michigan game that was playing live, but I quickly got over it when I discovered the benefits of less commercial interruptions and no BTN halftime show. This DVR rule does not apply to "big" games, though. I generally only use it for BTN games. An 11 a.m. OSU live kickoff will not be missed. |

Weather dorks unite! This kind of stuff gets us all tingly inside. DISCLAIMER: I hope the weather is interesting, but not interesting enough to cause massive mayhem. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | Spot on |
I almost committed on the spot when I received Pepperdine literature in the mail while a high schooler. The picture of the campus nestled along the Pacific coast is still etched in my mind. I discovered the Huron River to be equally enchanting, though, and chose UM. Also couldn't afford a flight to CA back in the day. |

Please, no. I could not cheer for that man, and after 4 decades of Lions' mediocrity, this hire would probably push me completely over the edge. I'm really rooting for Schwartz this year just to avoid the coaching search rumor mill that may prominently feature Brian Kelly's name. |

No worries, man. You never know when opportunity knocks, so there's no shame reaching 1000 commenting on a picture of Jim and Screech. I would argue it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. FWIW, my 1000th point may have been earned while on the toilet. Or it may not have. You will never know. |

I will admittedly miss this pose. But he can still scratch his reffing itch at the local "Y" if he grows restless in retirement. |

MSC didn't have any U of M ties before being hired as president...or did she? |

In my mind, that would be completely worth the 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. BONUS: watching a B1G ref give the call with a teabagging motion. And "getting your pick on" conjures memories of the disgusting 1st grader in class who constantly was rooting around in his/her nose. These are minor issues, though. What a great background story on Peppers.

Any Workaholics fans out there? If so, you'll love to know that Anders Holm delivered one of the keynote commencement addresses at UW-Madison this year. He's a Wisconsin alum (former swimmer, too?), so there's a definite connection. My favorite snippet from the local Madison newspaper:

| 4 weeks 6 days ago | Minnesota, no Block M |
That would be an especially bad idea considering the M (or, more appropriate, upside down W) adorning the Gophers helmets. Or maybe Minnesota could wear alternate helmets with winged gopher stripes on them. |

Magnus: The link goes directly to a Sam Webb write-up on the Detrot News, not your scouting report. OMG: Sam Webb is Magnus! I knew it all along.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch...twice. |

Must've been Denard or nothing for them. If no Denard, then trade away for more picks. I'm not saying I agree with the strategy, but maybe it's a plausible explanation. |

Detroit on the board again soon, so the Swopes or Robinson combination is still in play (for those of you who are seeking slot-type WRs). |

OK...I guess I'll take my lumps from you in stride. I'm no technophile, but I do a ton of data analysis and computer programming on unix/linux systems, have used both windows and mac extensively for 2+ decades, and can generally troubleshoot most computing issues on my own. But my Dell laptop (upgraded memory at the time, not entry level specs, etc) + Vista experience was unbelievably nightmarish and I spent far too many hours trying to "enhance" that experience by pestering technical support and researching the web for solutions. No more Windows for me. |
| 7 weeks 4 days ago | Windows Vista |
I had to also chuckle at the OS comparison between these two laptops (Mac OS 10.5 - Vista). I bought my first personal laptop with Windows Vista. That experience alone drove me to buy nothing but Macs ever since. Windows Vista was horrifying. It took me 5 minutes for my computer to load - when it was brand new. My work laptop at the time was a cheaper version of the MBP shown in the comparison, and it further convinced me to never go back to Windows. I'm sure Windows 7 or 8 is a much better experience, but Vista sucked the life outta me. |

Not sure how you diagnosed this from the video. I watched it and saw a tremendously gifted athlete outperforming everyone on the field. Maybe you have insider info that I don't know about. But I also completely trust Hoke's character radar, and will continue to do so until systematiclly proven otherwise. |

1. Gardening. 2. Enjoying the sun's warmth on my face for the first time this spring in the upper midwest. 3. My dog's butt stinks, so maybe I'll have to search the MGoArchive on how to express his anal glands. All-in-all, a great weekend ahead. |
