I did it. I switched to Rutgers-Illinois and was rewarded with a glimpse of Jeff George, Jr. gracing the Illinois sideline. Amazing.

Pro down, UM same.
Born and raised in Michigan, but no longer live in the state. I follow the Detroit pro sports teams, but do not watch them regularly. I was once a rabid Wings fan who watched 99% of games using NHL Center Ice, but I let that expire over 5 years ago. I just didn't have the same passion - maybe winning Stanley Cups after a few decades of futility allowed me to mentally back off. Hardly ever watch NBA or the Pistons. I'll catch a few Tiger games on a national broadcast. Lions are a different story - I catch them whenever possible and still have a morbid interest in them. My theory - they haven't won a championship in my lifetime, so they're my final pro bucket list team.
UM is a different story. Football Saturdays are still a borderline religious experience. The only difference iin recent years is my preference to DVR games (as others have mentioned above). I'll watch big match-ups live, but borderline or uninspiring games are usually watched in tape delay fashion. This strategy helps balance weekend family time committments, while still allowing me to digest games in pseudo real time.
I also find myself immersed in Michigan basketball much more than 15 years ago. I never miss a televised game. I would definitely be a season ticket holder if I lived in SE Michigan. Maybe lack of championships over the past 2 decades has inspired my increased fandom in Michigan hoops.

PFF rates Tomlinson's run blocking as "poor" and defines him as the weak link so far this year. Swanson was the definite weak link last year, with Tomlinson next. Swanson seems to have improved drastically so far this year.
To my untrained eye, Tomlinson had some good moments last year, but struggled with consistency. I was hoping the consistency issues would improve this year. That hasn't happened to date, especially with run blocking. Ergo, door is opened for Glasgow.

I'm thrilled for Graham. He has an opening that he can exploit. Tomlinson has been erratic.
As a Lions fan, however, I'm appalled that another 1st round pick might go bust.

I was thinking about this comparison myself. This is the perfect time for this analysis. We'll see if Speight's trajectory follows Rudock. I don't think it can, because Rudock played almost flawlessly during the latter half of last season. I've had a few "uh-oh" moments with Speight dropping back, although I had similar thoughts during the 1st half of last year's season.

I was a very pissed off person Saturday night. I attended my kid's school function on Saturday evening. I dutifully set my DirecTV DVR to record the game, plus 1.5 hour buffer (in case of 3 OT's). I came back to nothing, though. The DVR history said the game could not be recorded since it was regionally blacked out. In Madison, WI. The afternoon ESPN2 game was also in blackout mode, so I should have been nervous ahead of time. Maybe this glitch was solved, but not in time for my DVR to quit recording the event the moment it decided that the channel was not available at kick-off.
78-0 final score slightly soothed my nerves, but only slightly.
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||DirecTV regional ESPN2 blackout||
I sincerely hope that the Iowa @ Purdue ESPN2 game is blacked out in my region (Wisconsin), similar to the UM-Rutgers ESPN2 game this past weekend. Seriously. Please prevent this game from being watched in my household.
|2 weeks 23 hours ago||Thanks||
Thanks so much for this link. I was attending a school activity last night for one of my kids, so I faithfully set up the DVR to record the game. Imagine to my surprise when I got home post-event and discovered no game on the DVR. I checked the DVR recording history - game didn't record because of a regional blackout (I live in Wisconsin). Huh? I hate you DirecTV. Looks like others had similar problems based on comments in the game open thread, but I was not a happy camper. Was the blackout issue ever resolved?

7 TD's and 4 FG's. That's right - 4 FG's. Is my math correct?

I guess we won't feel bad for you when the San Andreas fault swallows you whole. Or maybe you'll drive right out of that big ol' crack in your Ram 1500?
EDIT: I see you no longer live in CA. So strike this message from the records.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Damn. I'm nowhere near the||
Damn. I'm nowhere near the "Chicken Little" aisle, nor are Seth, Brian and the rest of the gang. Seth's comments were poetry in motion regarding the fickle and chaotic nature of a long and grueling football season that sometimes hangs in balance due to the whims of chance and unexplained human vagaries. The Stribling slip was one of those key moments. Hornibrook threw an erratic pass to a wide open WR and we lived to fight another down. His inaccuracy was probably due at least partially to PTSD from getting pummeled throughout the game, but it was still a major unforced error that kept points off the board at a key juncture of the game. Chicken little? No. Fan of Seth's write-up regarding the tortuous chase of perfection that sometimes gets derailed by chaotic circumstances? Yes.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Chaos||
Seth nails chaos in very poetic terms. Nice. The Hornibook pass fluttering 10 yards past a wide open receiver due to Stribling tangling with the 40 yard line defines chaos, and it worked in our favor this time.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||McCray coverage||
Just noticed McCray's sticky coverage on the slot receiver. He ran stride for stride with Wheelwright far downfield (30 second mark shows a better replay). Thomas gives him safety high help, but McCray was all over that route.
