|10 weeks 1 day ago||Sorry and let me explain.||
Since it seems you haven't read the books, I can tell you from being a book reader we don't know how his character is going to go in future books or show. He's a small character that pops up every now and then. I'm curious as the next person and wish he was in the novels more because his character is very interesting. I promise you I did not spoil anything. All I said was he was involved in the cave scene. I didn't explain the who, what, when, where, and why. The meat. I saw so many people commenting on not liking the skeletons, that I felt the comment was justified because I found it weird too and didn't get why they switched it for no reason.
And since the show is going in a different direction from the books, who knows how they will treat Cold Hands in the show. If they have inside information from Martin on where the story is going, the show has already spoiled a theme from the upcoming books. So we're all in the same boat.
Honestly didn't mean to tick anyone off. I thought comparing two scenes vs the book wasn't a big deal. We're talking 20 pages of 5000.

Book 1 and the first season are pretty close to being right on. But starting book 2 and season 2, they deviate story lines. They're not super drastic since they always end up where they need to be but I'm actually annoyed with some of the shortcuts they've made or having characters do one thing in the show that never happen in the book. I think you'll be missing some story lines if you go directly to book 3. Plus they never truly go in depth with some of the dialogue in the major scenes. It's talked about a lot here. The books give it that much more umph. Just my 2 cents.

What annoys me about the show is that they basically do the exact storyline line from the books but then change it for the worse. Example. I see several people on this thread comment about not liking the skeletons. Well in the books it's white walkers chasing them. Why the change to skeletons? It's weird and unnecessary. Plus I think those that didn't like the skeletons would have loved a group of white walkers chasing the 4 down. So I don't get some of the decisions being made. And as I know what's to come, I always say to myself, how will that change lead to x? Sometimes it's hard to see and I think detracts from the books. But yes, I know the show can't be exact. But I wish it would!

The one that I'm irritated with is Brienne and the Hound fighting. That never happens. The Hound is killed by others. I think it hurts the story and now Brienne knows Arya is alive. In the books, no one does from Westeros. I think that's what's so good about her character is the possibilities that we hope will arise with her character. If Bri tells people she is alive, it could destroy the Arya storyline. So I just don't get it.

They've changed quite a bit on that story line from the books. In the books, they meet up with Mr. Cold Hands, the white walker that takes the baby and he can talk and is nice, and leads them to the cave as white walkers are about to kill them all, not skeletons popping out of the ground. Everyone thinks he might be Ned Starks brother from the wall turned white walker. Could be, who knows. Also I think Jojen lives. Them 4 also never went to Cruster's Keep. That was all made up. So again, they changed it quite a bit. In the end, they ended up where they're supposed to be, the cave.

me think I'm not off my rocker. Will be interesting to see how these new storylines go. I've been told that Martin has told people how he envisioned the series ending, if he was to die. Maybe they're going in that direction whithout us knowing because he won't finish the freaking books! Like the white walker baby thing to the other White walkers. We haven't read that yet.
I feel the same way about Bran. He has to end up where he does in the books but they can take him any direction they please, I guess.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Question||
My wife and I read all the books 4-5 years ago, right when we heard about the show and started watching it. Anyone whose read them more recently, we can't remember Stanis going to Bravos for money. Another scene we don't remember happening is Bran at Cruster's Keep. Obviously not a big deal, but as I watch these, my memory is tested at times.
They've certainly changed things over the years. Shae's character for one. And Rob Stark's wife was a major change. But all is good.
You're all in for some more surprises. I can't wait!

If you think about it, it was done right in the grand scale. He spent 9 years telling his kids the events that led up to meeting their mother. And the way the show was created from the start, not having Tracy in it, you knew that wasn't the "real story" and she was dead. It was Ted's journey through love and heartache and the one that got away. But I like how the kids said go get Aunt Robin and he did. We're left with a scene where where our two beloved characters are starting something new. Where it went, is a mystery. I like that.
I didn't really care for what they did for Barney's character. I can understand the divorce because they were both so different, but to make him have a baby and he's finally normal? Come on.
I will really really miss this show. IMO it was better than Friends and can go head to head with a Seinfeld/Cheers as the best comedy ever. There were some glorious episodes. I mean they did half an episode about taking a deuce. Deuces are wild Marshal! Supreme Fudge. Barney's blog. Very creative and most of the time, extremely funny.

As a Broncos fan, he was once awesome. Now, he's older, slower, and not as physical. He was hurt all of last year year only appearing in a handful of games and got torched in the SB. So I'd pass. I think it's time for him to retire. He's made a lot of money. Go live life to the fullest Champ!

I moved to Ottawa and they have no Bells in Canada. Man I'd die for a Hopslam right now.

I think Rust has been searching for the killer all along and a world of shit is going to go down. At least I hope. I love how every episode is masterly written and acted by Woody and Matthew. They both will be nominated for some awards.

For the first time. Fell on my ass hard one time as well. One girl fell and hit her head hard and was really hurting. You have to be careful but boy was it fun. 100x better than bowling. And of course drinks were glowing the whole time!

Michigan lost the Heald much in the last 20s. And the Abounader match in the last 20s to go to OT. And that kid hit a TD with 5s left. Throw in Salazar pushing the #1 Green to the limit it could have been michigan winning 8 matches. Even Grajales was up for a bit. They're wrestling tough at the right time of the year. Bodes well for the Big Tens and NCAA.

Besides Coon, #2 overall recruit, they also had #4 Ben Whitford, Murphy, Abounader, Fisher, Hayden, and Kennedy. But Ben did not qualify academically so he's at smaller college right now, but not wrestling. If he did, he'd lose a year. I think everyone believes he'll try and qualify and go D1. I hope it's Michigan. He's best friends with Massa. But no one knows for certain.

A Bullet for Free Throws needs to be included. They couldn't make one late on the 1 and 1's. Could have kept cutting it to 4 instead of Indiana extending it out of reach. But D is dreadful. That's what they need to shore up or they'll be bounced very quickly in both tournaments.
|30 weeks 1 day ago||I see both sides, although I'm not sure what I support||
If we look at this as a business, which lets face it, College Athletics is a business, why shouldn't colleges be allowed fire its employees? In essense, that what oversigning is. Firing its players. It happens in the real world. You don't get the job done, be it year one or 5, you can get fired. There is logic there.
But at the same time, football is not a "real" job and 95% of kids are not yet experienced enough or have the knowledge to compete with kids 3, 4,and 5 years into the program. And that's where I get hung up.
I think the NCAA should make up some formal rule about it. Allow it or don't. Period. No between the lines crap. And cap it at a low number. 3 or 5 total. And if you allow it, the kid has to be either a Junior or Senior. You can't cut freshman or sophmores. And if you cut the person from a football scholarship, the University must give the now normal student a scholarship of some sort to help the student get his degree. Because really, that's what it's about.
Now that I think about this more I don't like it at all. As much money as these guys make, they'd continue to cut players every year.
But still, part of me says if the kids a goof in the classroom but is staying eligible, and he half asses it on the field so he doesn't get PT, teams should be able to cut the person from their scholarship and give it to someone new who might try a little harder.

If they have any hopes of bringing them in, constant contact and in person meeting will need to happen. Harris had that. Now Hoke and Nuss needs to visit Campbell. Then keep up the phone calls and letters as allowed too.
