go a long ways toward preventing the 73-9 regular season Warriors from capping their magical regular season with an NBA title.
And it involves a former MSU player. Outside of the Michigan-MSU bubble, I doubt many view this as an MSU topic.

Michigan, Minnesota, and Nebraska are a combined 5-1 on the right side of the bracket.
Illinois and Ohio State are a combined 0-2 on the left side of the bracket.
Hope it doesn't tip over.
|3 days 6 hours ago||Other possibility is Nebraska,||
but Nebraska is coming from the loser's bracket and would have to win two straight over Mizzou to take the regional.

Why not add other propositions? If you hit a grand slam in an even numbered inning and end the inning with the lead, you win.
|3 days 11 hours ago||Exactly||
Obviously, the run rule will have nothing to do with the two specific teams playing. (Well, this team has a losing record, but they made the playoffs, so let's set the run rule at 8.)
But it should be reflective of both how likely a comeback is and how much weight the game plays in a team's season. The gimmicky 3-on-3 NHL regular season 5 minute OT is fine, because in an 82 game season with the losing team still earning a point in an OT loss, the situation will even itself out. In a 4 team knockout series with the loss weighing half of the knockout, the run rule n should be set at more than "everyone can think of games between on-paper competitive teams in which a team scored at least n runs in the number of innings remaining".
It's just common sense.

seem counter-intuitive to me. For me, it wasn't until 9th grade that player weight limits were lifted.
Ponies 9 & 10 yr olds (60-85lbs)
This might be obvious, but the hits became much more forceful the older I got.

are just what you'd want for your kid.
|4 days 2 hours ago||Perhaps as monitoring technology and the science advance||
your "one concussion rule" could become far more granular.
Sensors in the helmet would provide metrics as to the blows absorbed during games and practice. And just like fouling out in basketball, when you reach a certain level (perhaps in any of multiple metrics), you're done for the day/week/season.
This would also incentivize players to avoid using their helmet intentionally.
|4 days 2 hours ago||Someone ought to do a holistic study on the life outcomes||
of football players at various levels. (E.g health, career, education, marital/family status, etc.)
I highly doubt that the null hypothesis at the high school level--that football had no detrimental statistical impact on macro life outcomes--could be rejected.
|4 days 2 hours ago||I don't think the question is framed quited correctly||
As long as the parents of the participants are aware of the risks and (amateur) rewards in a transparent manner as best known at the time, football parents and their kids should be free to choose to play. Likewise, I am free to choose whether to watch these voluntary participants. Those two things are independent.
Now if you are someone who finds himself at times taking the position that football poses too great a danger and should be banned in some circumstances, yet still like your Michigan football, only then do I think the inconsistency rises to the level of hypocricy. (This does not include merely advocating for greater safety and/or awareness.)

Michigan is to Jackass as football watching is to movie watching.
I don't like it.

One of my favorite fictional sports movie endings.
Good sports comedies almost always fade at the end with the obligatory win/championship. The Bad News Bears was different, or almost unique in that down four runs with two outs and the bases loaded, Kelly Leak is called out at home just shy of a game-tying inside the park home run, and the Bears lose.
Not to worry. Coach Buttermaker lets his 12 year old team drink beers with him in the aftermath, and Tanner Boyle let's the winning Yankees know what he thinks of their perfunctory Bears cheer and apology.
