in the same amount of time you took to post a rant, you could have done the small amount of research required and posted something along the lines of "chiming in here with some more info and a link some will hopefully find helpful. ...hint to OP, perhaps include these in the future to make your post more informative?"
Technically, you are correct and the OP should have included more info, however. ...your tone is condescending and dropping with self-importance.
Tone is important.... contributory, helpful and positive is likely to be much better received AND you solve the issue of many people having to search for the info.

tough travel to get there, but unrivaled in the state for natural beauty

get a place on our near the beach and you can't go wrong. go all over the Leelanau peninsula, visit traverse city, Manitou island.
homestead has decent condos, bit cabins are much better experience.
only option that compares would be to head up the the upper peninsula near the pictured rocks/grand isle area. actually more beautiful and less expensive but it is a trek and getting up there.

|3 weeks 2 days ago||I would choose In-n-Out, but||
I would choose In-n-Out, but it is a shadow of what it originally was.
Story I heard when InOut was still local to L.A..SoCal region, the founding Father of the family refused to expand beyond a footprint that could be suppported by his direct, and in many cases exclusive, suppliers for every ingredient/component of his menu because he would never sacrifice quality. This lasted until hhis death when they had 18 locations. His first son took over and expanded to 76 locations and then the second took them to 140 by 1993, but once he died, the family kept expanding to their now 300+ locations and while they mostly adhere to the same standards of freshness and cleanliness, I don't believe they still have the same quality control/direct suppliers for every ingredient and there is defintely a huge difference in the quallity even between branches. If you were lucky enough to try them for the first time in the 70's or even early 90's, they were all great. These days if you get one at the branch in San Francisco in the Wharf/tourist area...they are not nearly as good as they are churning out a massive amount of food and the place is a mess....if you go to the one in Daly Cit y just outside of SF, they are sublime, though still not what they once were.
5 Guys - while I defiintely like their burgers and would put them on a par with the current InOut one, sort of "separate but equal", I don't prefer their style of fries and.....no shakes...really?

I think you mean to write ".....when you travel below the Mason-Dixon line."
Don't worry, understandable mistake for a 4th grader.

"why do you care" thing.....which would then engender the question, "why do YOU care?" to which you would reply "I don't" so then someone would ask "why do you read it and post?"
Proper form if you don't care....don't click and read through the thread and certainly don't post. It will be like it never happended for you.
If you actually DO click into the thread and read some of it, but find yourself personally not caring, then:
-time to click out to another part of MGoBlog = .10 seconds
-time to continue reading about something you don't care about, asking why other people care about it as if they shouldn't because you don't = 7 minutes?
-time to post multiple posts about not caring, asking other people why they care about something that you do not and implying they shouldn't care because you do not, then pondering on the state of MGoBlog because you are wasting so much time opting into conversations that you don't care about and where people are caring about things you think they shouldn't care about = 15 minutes
Simply put, threads are optional. I find many threads on here uninteresting...to me...based on the title alone. I don't click on them.....if i do...which i don't....I wouldn't likely go into that thread and make it a point to tell people that I don't care about whatever they are discussing and wonder aloud why they care about it, with the implication being that they shouldn't care about it, just like me.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||you are missing the point, completely||
We don't think you are or care whether you are trying to replace the "Victors".
We think the whole thing is a terrible concept and isn't going to come off well for the university at all. That is the resistance you are coming up against.....not some misplaced worry that you want to replace the fight song.
The only people to benefit from this willl be you and the people involved with it because "so hype" right?

Funny, because I took two years of Latin in high school and should actually know better, remembering that pulchra puellae meant beatiful girls (that is what you remember when you take latin at 15, all roads lead to females)

but that is really a real person doing this...right? Jersy Shore comes to Ann Arbor.
Adam man, I'm all in for you having a good time and being whoever you want to be my friend....Dog knows I cut a wide swath through UM and exited with a degree and a two year cumulative hangover, but the stuff you are trying to push here really isn't something that will be good for M or anyone/anything connected to it. The youtube post is currently getting voted down about 5:1....that should tell you something.
When I went to M we had a very similar kind of thing where some students I knew from the dorm were trying to push M to adopt a new mascot.....called Willy the Wolverine....and they spent endless hours trying to promote it and get people on board and I witnessed first hand their frustration in wondering why everyone wasn't on the same page as them. It went on for two+ years and was somewhat contentious and in the end it was just very clear that while these few students wanted this to happen...mostly for themselves and their own vanity's sake, that the vast majority of students, fans, alumnae simply hated the idea and shat on it every time they tried a new avenue by which to introduce it.
As it becomes more clear that you are in a clear minority of people that wants this to move forward and that there are infinitely more people that are vehemently opposed to it....trust me when I say that the milllion or so people that will be most (may parents met while at UM, my bother and sister also went to M, I grew up literally swimming in alumnae and fan freinds of Michigan and am now 47 years old) vehemently opposed to this haven't even heard about it yet....so if you don't have the groundswell of support you want right now, there is not going to be fertile soil in which to plant this anywhere you haven't looked yet.
No one is trying to "break you bro", but at some point you need to ask yourself....do you want this for you and your ego, or because it is something that will benefit M? If the vast preponderence of people that are reponding to this whole thing are telling you that they don't like it and think it is bad for the image of the university, you need to listen. Otherwise, you kind of become an asshole...right? You become someone that would push something through to the detriment of the university only to satisfy yourself and your ego and to puff up your own image.
Is that what you want to be?

|17 weeks 3 days ago||way more than 10 years, but absolutely correct||
There is a lot more gray area in this than people realize looking at it on the surface from the article that reports on the incident and the amount for damages.
This type of thing has been going on since I went to UM and was in a fratenity ('90, and I have it on good authority it isn't something we started at that time, far from it) and will continue to occur, as it does at all schools, amongst all greek communities or many large contingents of traveling/road-tripping/partying students. I have seen, experienced and at times participated in similar hijinx (though never in intentionally destroying/damaging property and never on that scale) on team road-trips, high school road trips, fraternity formals, post-graduate road trips to Vegas or New Orleans for Jazz Fest, hanging with bands on tour. This isn't at all limited to fraternities, though they do present some of the largest/worst examples due to the number of people and budgets involved.
Is this a particularly egregious example? Yes, indeed it is.
Are the groups/people involved irresponsible, immature, over-privileged and under-punished? Yes, but unfortunately they are just being groomed to take their place in the real world in that respect....sadly for many this behavior and attitude will continue at this level past graduation as the only lesson they will take from this is that with enough money, you can get away with whatever you want.
Are the hotels hapless victims in all this that are going to lose a ton of money? No way, or quite simply they would have stopped booking these types of groups long ago or would police them better. Many resports I stayed at that didn't want to deal with this sort of thing monitored the situation, checked it when necessary and booted us unceremoniuosly and without hesitiation if it continued...without refund and righfully so. In a perfect world this wouldn't be necessary, but alas......world not perfect. In all likelihood, the hotel will inflate the amounts and be compensated well in excess of the actual damages/lost revenue and labor costs, they are well equipped to make that happen and no doubt practiced in that process.
The real losers in all this are the people that have to clean up after the whole mess and deal with the feces and vomit and whatever other aftermath there might be, who won't see an extra dime or bit of appreciation for their troubles.

What happened? Did they just get scouted after the first few games and are now that easy to figure out and stop?
