made a lasting impression on a 6-year old kid living in Winnipeg watching UM v Minnesota football.
I said to my dad, "Those are claws on those helmets!"
Then he replied (in an imagination-induced Keith Jackson drawl), "No, son, those are the winged helmets of Michigan."
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Another old man||
seconds that. Have a pair of Curry's and they are the best bball shoes I've had.
Curiously they have not brought my game back.
Anyway UA doesn't have to be the garish horror show that MD and ND have trotted out. Methinks Hackett / Harbaugh would stop that.

|1 year 3 weeks ago||Lots of rumours flying around here||
in Montreal - many are disappointed we blew out TB last night, as there might have been an outside chance they'd fire Therrien and start talks with Babcock.
The rumours are still around but fading. Too bad, I'd love to see him take over the Habs (along with many others). With his McGill connection not absolutely outlandish. Grand old team stuck in neutral with a zero coach.
Unfortunately you know the Leafs are going to go all-in on him...Resist, Mike, resist the dark side...
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Winged helmet is trademarked?||
Thought it was just a design, like stripes.
Princeton's trademarked too?
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Of course KO knew what he did||
I just find it amazing that, in the context of a very phyisical series and a very physical matchup, people think what KO knew was that an arm pulled at this angle with this force will dislocate that shoulder and shelve Love for the rest of the playoffs.
He's trying to get the ball, Love gets position on him, he cheats with a bad play, Love gets injured. Tough, but that's the extent of it.
I understand Cavs fans being more than irate. However you'll beat the Bulls regardless and be in the finals, where GS or SA will put thee to the sword. Enjoy the run.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||The refs wanted physical||
they got it. As bluesalt says, shut it down with Perk. Thompson and Sullinger were at war inside.
Yeah a bad play by KO but not the murderous rampaging chanelling Artest fury some are desperate to paint it as. Two big guys wrestling for the ball, one starts to lose and yanks on whatever is in his way. Bad play, dumb play, not trying to separate a shoulder but cheating to get the ball.
He gets a game...tough to give him more after JR's foul only gets him two. He should have got five, KO 4 next season. Or better, suspend KO the first 2 or 3 or next year's playoffs, when the C's will probably be better and he will be even more important to the team and Love and deRozan are Faking it with Kobe.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Pateryn has exceeded expectations||
Really hope the Habs find enough room for him - entriely possible if we flame out the next round. Rumour is Tinordi is on his way out, so maybe.
Patches has disappoint. But he did have a suspected concussion just before the season ended. Still, disappoint.
I've never had any real ill-will towards the Wings, and even now that we're in the same division can't get up anything like Bruin- or Leaf-hatred levels. And our 70's show can hardly be compared with Ohio State, absolutely terrible analogy. Certainly wasn't the Habs fault that the Wings sucked then while we built maybe the best team ever.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Fantastic player||
Has been for the Rags since his first shift. The motor plus some touch. Really wanted the Habs to somehow deal for him before he hit the NHL.
Good luck to him.

|1 year 5 weeks ago||Priorities change||
as does what surrounds the game.
From Montreal, I grew up watching the Canadiens at The Forum. I still love hockey and follow the Habs, but going to the Bell Centre is exactly the 'controlled experience' StephenRKass describes above. I hate it - but there is no way to bring the Forum or that feeling back.
As a beginning UM fan I loved Bo, AC, then Harbaugh, Woodson, etc etc. But the money involved, be it profit or cost, has radically changed the experience. The Big House now is certainly not The Big House of then, and can't be ever again.
Still love the team, still watch all the games. There is no sense living in nostalgia though, and I don't like everything of what the game has become.
Now get off...

|1 year 5 weeks ago||Youth basketball coach||
Have kids age 5 up to 13 in various programs, built / building them from the ground up. The kids will learn from your words, your attitude, the atmosphere you create and promote.
I strongly recommend Brian McKormick's 'The 21st Century Basketball Practice' for any sport. It looks at various approaches to coaching and how kids respond. Excellent & my #1 choice, no matter the sport (I have also coached youth baseball, soccer, and am doing some cricket this year, but the book applies to all).
Wooden's Blue Book and 'The Inner Game of Tennis' have been great motivators and philosophical guides for me. I've rec'd Wooden for parents frequently, with positive feedback.
Of course I love 'Bo's Lasting Lessons', and his overall themes of honesty, decisiveness, principles, and giving people a chance to become better resonate.
The 'Inside Youth Sports' website has good stuff in it sometimes. I'm also on 'Breakthrough Basketball' a lot, though that is more sport-specific.
Kids play sports for fun, friendship, some degree of success / improvement, with winning way down the list. Make them want to come back, have fun, meet friends, and they will get hooked by athletics. Plan every practice, let kids make decisions and mistakes, give them variety, be steady and unbiased.

But hey, awful...
|1 year 8 weeks ago||Agree with this||
35 shot clock does the college game no favours. Boring is every team floating through their sets while flipping the rock to each other way beyond the perimiter, then start their real 'set' with 18 on the clock (oddly enough we have the 24 here in Canadian college). Widening the paint is also great. Hand check, well they've tried to ban it in the past and it always creeps back in unfortunately. Timeouts are absurd now.
Only thing I'd do different is eliminate the charge circle.
Geno is a brilliant showman and great at attention-getting. He's also a phenomenal coach and recruiter. He's better when he talks about strengths of WBB, intelligent movement, reading and react, spacing, defensive shifts, etc. Poor comment designed to draw attention to the WBB Final Four, nothing more.
The best pro teams embrace modern ball and are killing it - Atl, GS, Memphis, SA, etc. They are far better than any NCAA team just in terms of pace and movement.
That said, nothing beats the NCAA atmosphere in basketball. I am biased of course but really believe JB is at the forefront of modern basketball in college, maybe a few seasons ahead of his time - through a post destroyer 7-footer would still be nice.

|1 year 11 weeks ago||Spike is the hardest working player||
But Walton started to find his stroke deeper into the season, and his decision making was getting better - slowly, but surely.
He is simply quicker and stronger than Spike, and next year will surpass him in many fields. Not to belittle Spike at all, and it only benefits Walton from playing with him and watching him; but Walton has a way higher ceiling, some of which we saw as the season wore on.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Think Walton is better||
when 100%, especially defensively where he is physical enough not to get constantly torched. And he does not need p&r action to drive-draw-dish.
Would rather Rawk come in from the bench. Think Spike's ability to curl and use screens + his quick release is underrated. Plus in JB's system one guy is not the exclusive ballhandler up the court, one guy does not trigger all the sets.
Healthy Walton is really, really good.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Those shorts...||
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Well done||
Thought Illinois was their best performance, and followed with really tough, mostly smart ball vs Wiscy. Four mental errors down the stretch did us in more than anything, problems easy to correct.
Great end to a rough season. What a unit Dawkins, Rawk, Dolye will make, along with an improving Chatman and possibly a guy like Wilson or Robinson contributing. Want to see them play a couple more times and JB get to tinker in the NIT.
Look how in control Irvin was today, even more than yesterday, bodes very well in case Caris chases the millions. Irvin, Walton, Spike are going to be great leaders next season with or without Caris.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Post D, perimeter d||
Can't agree with the post d entirely. Both Biefeldt and Doyle have pretty bad footwork that allows position for easy bank shots. Biefeldt isn't usually outdone by height, but quickness and positioning.
Both of them are mediocre post defenders. Donnal is not a post player and can't be considered, even when his assignment call for it: weak physically, narrow stance, only used as a breather.
Neither Rawk nor Spike were good defending high screens: they trailed the ball right through overtime, no matter where on the court, allowing penetration and open looks. Those two 'prayer' 3's were not that miraculous: Spike has a terrible reaction on the first; Rawk forgets his man on the action for the second. Both times the shooter had got free, open look, good balance. Bad d.
Next year will be interesting. Walton-Caris-Irvin-Dawkins-Doyle with Wilson, Robinson, Chatman and Donnal (and Rawk backcourt) would be pretty damn good if they all come back. If, of course, we spend the summer inbounding the ball.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||The quick release, the stroke||
length, balance, keeps shooting, hands getting quicker with underrated positional defense.
Great potential as a #2. Already damn good. Weak finisher around the rim.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||I'd go with inbounding||
over the 2 foul rule if you want to pick on JB.
There isn't another major college coach I can think of who doesn't adhere to this. Is there one?
|1 year 12 weeks ago||GAARGH||
Crazy throwing that away.
Inbounding is amazingly bad for this time of year. So is our clutch ft's. Offensive execution is very hit-and-miss.
But the defense is crazy bad. All zones leave the corner 3 open even without penetration and collapsing. And our man d is pathetic. Our bigs have terrible footwork on d. Rawk and Spike were absolutely brutal on those two 3's they hit to stay alive, absolutely brutal. They seem to fall into rote instead of understanding the context of each situation. All screens trail no matter where or when. Guys need 3's and we back away, trail slowly after them...
Would have given Chatman a bit more of a look in the second. Rawk has to look way more of a threat on o, like he was when he hit his late 3.
Terrible to make that donation.

Not as grim about our O-line as Solid, but AD has a lot of mileage on him. He is an unreal talent and has freakish recovery abilities, but I am sure Spielman will trade him to the south and out of our demographic - including the Lions.

|1 year 17 weeks ago||Don't sweat it||
I was 6 or 7 in Winnipeg when I saw UM on TV playing Minnesota in a Big 10 game. Got hooked, those helmets, the Wolverine / X-Men thing.
Could never have afforded to go as a non-US citizen, remained a dream through HS.
Met many UM fans and grads over the years, in the many different places I've lived - Vancouver, Tokyo, Montreal, wherever. Not one of them showed the slightest bit of condescension or superiority because they were a grad, or from AA, etc. Not once.
I sport my Bo-style cap every (non freezing) day and my daughter knew the words to The Victors at 5. Maybe one day if she & her sister are so inclined and have the grades they'll go to UM (only 8 & 3, lots of time for classwork and working jump shots), but for now we are fans, having fun with it.
It's been one of the most amazing groups I have ever been associated with, very welcoming and encouraging. So always take the high road, touch the cap to those who hurl insults, smile, act right, read 'Bo's Lasting Lessons', stick with the blog, look forward to game day. Take an online course (actually looking at that as well). Never waver. It's always worth it.

|1 year 19 weeks ago||Boston||
and not because I am a fan.
One of the worst outside shooting teams I've seen. Unreal. Smart and Bradley are possibly tha all-time all-D / no-shot backcourt. Nik could come in as a 6th or 7th with Olynyk (Canadian, the only guy who can really shoot on the roster). The problem then becomes Boston's soft-as-butter interior D as opponents blow by him on the perimiter.
Well, OK maybe I am biased. Detroit?
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Dubs, Wiz, Hawks||
Blazers, Griz, even the post Smith Pistons too - all awesome and fun to watch.
Smaller, faster, higher scoring, more movement off-ball, more versatile players. Tire fires in LA, Boston, NY, Phila show a distinct lack of evolution.
Yes the NBA sucks if you are a C's fan (ahem)...but there is some creative, great ball being played. The only thing that bothers me really are timeouts - they should cut them to 2 each team at the 2-minute mark. They should also eliminate back-to-back timeouts. And too many games. But those are off-court issues independent of the quality of play.
And anyone who says Trey would have benefitted by staying should watch the run to the Final again.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Why wouldn't JH want them to win?||
We want the nat'l champs next season. The bigger the challenge, the better you compete.
Didn't rub me the wrong way at all, this is JH being competitive. Yeah I loathe OSU, but I want UM to beat the best, and in turn be the best.

I think between an improved OL, RB competition, and possession-based receivers with a couple of real good looking TE's, we can have a very competent QB without having to resort to gunslinging. It's going to be fun to see guys let it all hang out in competition. No-one anointed. Competition at its best.

Think Sparty and one other will give us two losses. If Utah can sort out what seems to be some internal division, they'll be very tough to beat there.
Don't like the Minny game either. PSU might be tricky. One of those might be another loss.
But we'll beat OSU. Even if Tyrone Wheatley Sr. has to suit up wearing his kid's uniform...hey, wait a minute...

Other than that to hell with them. I hate most of the other B1G teams - Sparty, PSU, Wiscy, Neb, Illinois, Purdue...I loathe them.

|1 year 19 weeks ago||Remains to be seen||
but right now it doesn't look good this season at least. Dwindling minutes and zero defensive (post) presence.
He can't put the ball on the floor at all and doesn't look a special passer, so he'll live on open shots.
Let's see what happens if his quickness and ballhandling improve, and they do pair him with someone who can operate down low. Next year.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Rawk||
still plays at high-school speed. Two straight games he has missed easy dishes to a low cutter for open layups. Just looks totally maladjusted to the speed of the game.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Liked this game||
Lots of possible corner-turning here.
Walton looking much more mobile & aggressive looking for his shot. His release was confident, and his killer 3 from Caris' drive-draw-dish late (the killer momentum play) was perfect. Knocking down shots opens up his p&r game with Doyle, which killed them off. That combo looks potentially very effective.
Defensively the high trap unleashed Caris and Irvin as roaming poachers. Caris in particular looked the most confident he's looked all year on d, roaming, arms wide, anticipating, jumping lanes. The speed and length they have, astutely pointed out by Alex Cook in his excellent blog post, is ideal for this kind of running, gambling aggression, where extending the trap so far out lessens our height disadvantages. Great change-up by Coach B, and used just enough.
Caris little things right, still tempted to go one-on-one off screens instead of taking the open shots, but Matbaugh is right, no-one can hang with him one-on-one. The more Doyle gets his game vertical, the more running the 5 out at Caris as help is going to burn opponents as he will be able to jump-pass / lob into an active target down low (what I was hoping Wilson would turn into before his injury, a lob-target that can dunk zones & help back into man-to-man).
I like how Dawkins is coming along. He has growing comfort on both ends. He doesn't have to fill it up to fill his role. Doyle looks effective, still learning positioning. Donnal looks way off unfortunately and got a quick hook after a missed 3. Biefeldt is more effective at this point.
Very nice comeback. Even survived Irvin's wide-open miss off the corner 3, but you can't fault him for taking it. They proved against a pretty decent team that they don't need to be all Caris to pull out wins.
Go Blue! Win 4 of our next 5 (very tall order yes) and we are in real business.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Limited action||
But, like Chatman, getting better at the little things.
I like Dawkins; more aggressive basket-attacking mode, and he looks pretty decent defensively. Had a very nice board in traffic.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Different release point||
Looks like his release point is way out in front of him now.
I get that the future of jumpers is GSW's Curry one-motion quick release; but when a guy has a beautiful fluid more tranditional two-step release like Irvin had, don't mess with it completely.
The only reason I can figure was that someone thought his release too slow, so one-motion will quicken it. But it looks very awkward in traffic even when he hits (there was a real rainbow of a shot v. Penn State off the dribble that just looked wrong), and he isn't hitting much from outside now.
At least he is taking the open jumpers, which is a very good sign in terms of his confidence.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Nik & the Raps||
He has mentioned this several times. It's changed the bball culture in Canada completely. Kids like Nik and Wiggins are the tip of a very big iceberg.
The Grizz were pretty sad-sack, I was out there when they were starting up, but the local HS basketball scene in BC is already pretty big (Steve Nash, etc.). But all will be dwarfed by Toronto.
Drake and the Leafs are probably the best publicity for basketball there!
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Nik-Kelly-Wiggins show||
Olynyk and Wiggins have ridiculous potential, especially Olynyk considering he is extremely difficult to defend when his outside shot is on.
They get hot, guys like Nik (Heslip, etc.) would have a spot-up field day.
One good interior defender and 5 years away, they could be very deadly in time as an all-out attacking force. Just need some LMU jerseys and a bit of Westhead run-run gameplanning...

if this is consistent in any way with the department's 'Best man over Michigan man' parameter.
You can take that to read as 'The past doesn't matter so much as the present' - and at present Les Miles has to be a top candidate. Not the top, of course, but way up there.
He's also not going to screw up his young team's minds with no-comments or waffling: he is a winner and wants to win that bowl game. Whatever he is saying in terms of denial is mostly coach speak I think.
As for UM's approach, they have to be different (open, honest) if they want to bring about significant change.

|1 year 23 weeks ago||He's ready in the NBA eyes||
I think it's more useful to look at things he doesn't do so well. The last two home games it was interesting seeing teams attack him repeatedly whenever they had him 1-on-1 on the perimiter. NJIT really hammered away at him with success, constantly able to penetrate (especially left).
But the NBA will look at that first step and think they can translate that into lateral movement on D. That wouldn't scare scouts off.
He's very, very quick, with that aforementioned step, so his lack of strength going to the rim won't worry most. He looks much more consistent with his midrange this year, partially because it looks like he is pulling up way closer to the hoop (I'd love to see some sort of ExpressVu on this but it looks this way, can'y be sure). Going right he is killing it. He also has more body control and is getting better looks and finishes tighter in.
Passing he might not look great, but the team is cold, uncertain, playing without much confidence. A lack of an athletic inside finisher is hurting. Plus he is the red flag, drawing lots of help on any sort of penetration. His job in this offense is definitely not to kick out or drive and dish: you want this guy shooting.
He has virtually no flaws in his outside shot. Irvin has a more 'textbook' form but Caris has the quick release, mentality, and results.
It's a different NBA now, raw potential and flaws don't bother them as much. Gone.

We should always wear maize or blue. Looks way better and more unique than white. I'd love to see a uni with the stright-across block lettering without the Doug Smith Mizzou 'M' treatment. Though the arch is a beaut on Cazzie.
Let's mandate black shoes and socks too.
But please never those day-glo bleed out monstrosities with illegible numbers and names.

|1 year 25 weeks ago||Think Levert, Irvin go||
And Walton stays for sure.
Those two will probably be at a high point by season's end. An NBA team will love Irvin's elevation and fluid release, his huge first step & driving ability, his discipline on offense. He's also wide and strong, and will be even better going to the hoop as the season progresses.
Levert is so quick and talented, even when people set out to stop him he can get them on his hip, find gaps, etc. Another guy with an outstanding first step. He is confident and always a threat. A bit too light for the NBA now, but will grow into it.
Real tough next year...but Beilein creates these nice problems that bloom in end February and March...
|1 year 25 weeks ago||What a game||
Sees the floor so so well. Spacing, awareness, wow. Clutch. Open 3, gotta take it. must be so fun playing in this system for this coach.
On that note, was surprised how poor Caris' shot selection was in the 2nd half.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Syracuse is never that bad||
because of their zone. Even their freshmen play it smart.
Boeheim pegged Chatman to beat them. Coach B got him out, then switched away from that hi-lo 3-out offense with Caris at the foul line and went to his preferred 4-out. Spike's penetration and dishing opened them up just enough.
Nice to not waste energy with all the baseline movement and off-ball switching against that zone - just a little flare screen now and then from the 5.
Little too tense at the end. Man do we ever not box out. Doyle has to stop going down like he's shot EVERY time someone penetrates. But hey, we made our possessions count more in that last 10 minutes.
Good to win while still having a lot of work to do.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Space.||
Make it, find it, fill it.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Disagree||
Levert's 3-shooting is too valuable to sacrifice. It's still early, they want to see what Chatman can give them there.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Not that bad||
We are just missing open shots. the 17 3's were for the most part pretty good looks.
Our O philosophy is open 3's or drives. Chatman is the elbow where they had the centres earlier in the season. Against that zone S knows our 5's are slow - a quick leaper would be ruining them down there. Chatman has hit a jumper, but can't get suckered into that low pass unless the 5 is looking immediately to the corner for the 3.
Is Irvin our best offensive player right now? His 1/2 court game looks incredibly smooth, killing open 3's, driving strong.
Defensively they have to do something else down low, Christmas will score 30 and foul everyone out soon enough.

for a Michigan fan. Fantastic.
Get destroyed by Seattle in Seattle, bounced from the playoffs - even better.
I'm more afraid of the Bears (or another NFL team in need of a coach) than the Niners at this point.
The real burning question in this is: did the Harbaugh's really have a tofu-turkey Thanksgiving??? Would Michigan accept such a thing???
"And we kind of thought maybe we won’t have turkey this year for Thanksgiving. So, we’re in discussion on that. We’ll have some tofu or something."
|1 year 26 weeks ago||I was wrong||
I was very perplexed by his move inside and thought it took away from his strengths in pursuit and blitzing wide. Space Coyote had defended the potential of the switch earlier IIRC, around the Utah game I think.
But the 2nd half he has been one of the few great things to watch on the team. Guys like me often criticize based on small samples of one or two games w/o the ability to see the long-term plan. JMFR is a great case-point. The lb's and d-line weren't a catastrophe this year - the D is overrated statistically but these units made their share of plays. Their slips were magnified by a secondary that can't cover very well and an offense that can't pass or score.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Clone?||
How is he a clone? How did he hire Hackett?
A pari of CEO's, sure, are they all the same?
White guy backup for Bo at UM, alright, you get that one.
Why would DB be smiling or satisfied in any way aobut this? He lost out, his ego-driven insecurities were exposed. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would have deliberatley orchestrated a massive egg on his face just to surreptitiously insert a 'clone' into a position he apprently relished.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Thought Spielman was the next||
Thought Spielman was the next year. Well whatever, some damned Buckeye.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||This||
Our 1 usually comes to the line, receives, passes out, then screens once or twice before rolling in. The 1 must read the D, be a good passer, read the movement of 1 through 4, time screens and cuts precisely. It's rare - and at this stage kind of pointless - to pick and pop when screening for Caris while Irvin and Walton (& sometimes Spike) are setting up for 3's & backdoors. You want a pick and crashing the boards on long shots.
Defensively we don't play rim-protector so much as challenge everything high. Size isn't going to do much for you there. Doyle has good footwork and gets to spots well, but doesn't have the timing for a big shotblocker - that'll come eventually with Wilson.
Think we might see a lot more 2-in/3-out (what Beilein ran at WV, modernized) in B1G play if Donnal and Wilson progress well.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||And Muschamp to CBus in exchange||
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Oddly enough||
I think St. Urban was on the TV panel for that game, and he was disgusted by what Tom Gholson did. IIRC he said he should be thrown out of the game and suspended.
Yeah, barf, whatever. Wonder if Hall hadn't been suspended by the B1G if Urbz would have bothered issuing this missive.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Gotta box out||
We went through phases where we just didn't check our man, guys flying in. But at the end, with Walton getting d boards, you know everyone was finally clued in.
More worrisome is who will stop a decent post with strength and moves. Especially if we start dropping to help and the post can pass.
But good win. The O is coming along, not enough motion off the ball really, but Oregon's D was so badly overplaying the 3 that with guys like Caris, Irvin and Walton you have to penetrate to the hoop. Would have loved a leaper inside for a game like this - guess what they want Wilson to become eventually.
That top 5 could be really dangerous down the stretch of the season, especially if Doyle shows he can get out and run.

And especially this:
"This team is going to play smaller than ever and launch an unprecedented number of 3s."
There is too much 'small' talent on this team to go 'tall' with a big 4 & 5. This could be a phenomenally fun team to watch: Beilein's track record of kids progressing, plus the natural shoot options in his motion O, stand to make this a very dangerous 3-centric team come tourney time.
I don't think there is any way Levert or Irvin are still around next season.
Crisler will be a launching pad this year.

Beilein is the biggest factor here. As they say, he is a teacher. These kids will have the whole season to improve, with possibly the best coach for doing so behind them in the NCAA.
Nice way to start the season. Mid-January we might see something a lot higher.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||Great idea||
Hoke is dopey, and the DB-PR doublespeak was always way beyond him; but I don't see any malice or venom in the man. Let the team know there is no turning back... let the fans know the new era has started... let him just clap off into his sunset, while visions of Sugar Bowls dance in his head...
|1 year 30 weeks ago||Did some good things||
Especially for facilities, 'smaller' sports, etc. Hell of a fundraiser. Stayed out of Beilein's, Berenson's, Hutching's, Barnes-Arico's, etc. way it seems.
Way too much wank on the corporate end, his vision of everything as a product, and the dismissive attitude towards fans. Dug his own grave, dug deep, kept on digging. But the unis look like any other uni.
We could trot out a block-M front uni, no patches (B1G, adidas - can make them blue-on-blue if they really insist), no shoulder stripes, big number on the back, no collar 'tag'. Give the kids matching blue undershirts (or whatever adidas calls those spandex compression shirts they wear). Even TV numbers we could lose - just a big one on the back, maybe for balance a small number up where the Legends patches are.
That I'd like to see for one game. One game only.
Btw why on earth do we not wear blue against Ohio State? No one is watching on black and white anymore, UCLA-USC do the colors quite nively imo.

|1 year 30 weeks ago||Think the team will be||
Think the team will be excellent. They are constantly getting closer to a no traditional center team, with various moving parts that all have rounded skill sets.
You look at bigs today and they have a lot of guard skills. Olynyk from the C's is a very difficult match up because he is a 7-footer with guard skills. While Biefeldt isn't that, think the team will be fine running a further tweaked version of Beilein's read-and-react, motion principle offense.
Exciting year ahead.

Yes I think I would have left off Hart's comments a few years ago, but that was exactly the perception Dantonio wants to sustain: that UM is elitist, arrogant, dismissive of Sparty; on the recruiting trail, in the media room, on the field.
Dantonio is looking constantly for an edge. Whatever he can make work, he does. I don't think they have to be so belligerent on D to the point of attempting injury, but he makes it work. We can call it petty, childish, whatever: but we feed it with actions, and completely lack any sort of identity of our own.

for alluding to the craziness of taking Manning away from our LB's - an improving force last year - and putting him on the DB's.
On that note, why not scheme around two of your best defenders' strengths: 47 lining up outside and Countess in more zone coverage? Are the two not compatible?
I am no expert, but it seems that Ryan was far, far more effective on the outside edge. Maybe Morgan's injury has screwed it all up, but I'd rather have him creating havoc and Bolden, who looks pretty solid insofar as tackling, in the middle. Which I guess leaves Ross on the other side, a bit scary yes, Ross with Bolden as cover. Charlton looks sometimes like an LB on the end.
