This is inaccurate.  Living…

This is inaccurate.  Living in a place without other broadband options, I subscribed to traditional satellite Internet briefly in the past. It was barely better than dial up. The problem is with the latency. When I first heard about Starlink, my response was, “unless Elon Musk has figured away to put satellites closer to the earth, it won’t make a difference”. Then I found out that’s exactly what the strategy was. I switched to Starlink, and it is an absolute game changer. On this thread, I will remain completely agnostic about the politics behind the owner of the company, I’m just here to talk about whether it’s a good option for doing things like streaming video, working from home via VPN, etc. It absolutely is.

I admire and endorse this…

I admire and endorse this approach, which may prove effective for many.

For the rest of us, I offer an alternative mantra after picturing Rece Davis:  “Rece is a fuckstick.  His occupation and mission is not to seek and deliver truth, but to offer takes and commentary that will increase the viewership of his network, enriching the stockholders to which he is beholden.  He did a good job.  Team 144 had a job too, and in doing it they enriched my life and gave me memories I will cherish forever.  Now we will both get on with our futures.”.  OK, kinda long for a mantra but it makes me feel good.

I have a lot of shirts I…

I have a lot of shirts I could have worn tonight.  I wore #16.  #16 and Brian kept me going through the dark times.  Thank you, Brian.

Many have mentioned but I…

Many have mentioned but I can’t leave it alone—crowd management was scary and does need attention.

The numbering system for the seats is confusing and I ended up having to diffuse a fight it caused between two dudes who were actually Michigan Fans (really???) arguing about whether a couple of them were in the wrong section making everyone else too cramped (I too was in an endzone section and it was pretty tight).  Get this—just as our last regulation drive was beginning (long story why it bubbled up at *that* time).

That being said…Those things took it from a 11/10 experience down to a 9.9/10 experience.  I will never forget it.  The setting in the mountains, the sunset, the lack of commercialization were awesome.  The sacred feel of the place shrouded in memories of Michigan teams past was palpable.  To exorcise the SEC ghosts, the sign stealing demons, and the past bowl losses in that setting, the way we did it in overtime?  Dude…

There was some music in addition to Mr. Brightside and Dixieland De-…//throws up in mouth a little bit//-light.  I specifically remember hearing a Blink 182 (or was it Green Day?) song in q3.  But really rare.

I had the privilege of…

I had the privilege of watching that play from the south end zone last night. A few weeks ago I had the perfect vantage point in the south end zone in The Game to see the “window” JJ threw the TD pass to Wilson through.  I’m not sure which will be my more cherished memory.  Awesome in the lost sense of the word.

That was my take from inside…

That was my take from inside the stadium as well, but I also saw a lot of Michigan fans wearing predominantly white Michigan gear.  I think the brain cancels them out or lumps them in with Bama.  But the noise is how we showed up.

I’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks have their “breakout game” against Michigan in the last 20 years.  I’m glad our successful game plan mitigated that possibility today.  Allar has the potential to do that, it will come someday…

Zinter was crucial on both of the long Edwards touchdowns that put twin stakes in the rancid Funyun that passes for a Buckeye heart in Columbus last November.

I’m not much of an analyst,…

I’m not much of an analyst, but did anyone else think Cade’s motion looked really weird on the rare throws late?  At any rate, he’s not right.

Everyone who is arguing that…

Everyone who is arguing that we need to give McNamara an opportunity to develop is right. But it’s not like there aren’t opportunities in the next couple of weeks. What’s better, giving him opportunities to develop against a secondary that looks much more vulnerable, or doing your best to develop him against a secondary which may make us regret that, and really damage his confidence? I will withhold judgment until two weeks from today, but today I will enjoy victory over a team that was ranked coming into the season.

Point taken but this is not…

Point taken but this is not about the “win at all costs” attitude.  Anderson wasn’t helping Michigan win more than another doctor would have.  I think it’s more about the evolution of the idea of responsibility, and being more comfortable questioning the authority of someone in an area of expertise not your own.  I can tell you personally that societal attitudes about doctors have changed radically in the last few decades.  People just didn’t question the doctor back then.  My guess, for whatever it’s worth, is that Bo just didn’t feel it was his place to cross that line, and was biased towards minimizing the credibility and/or significance of the reports.  To be clear, that attitude was just as wrong then as it is now.  So I think ultimately it does everyone a greater service to leave up the statue.  Add a plaque.  Educate us all that even our heroes can have flaws—serious ones—and we all need introspection to keep ourselves honest.  We can’t tear it all down and erase it and not talk about it.  Something needs to be there to remind us all.

Yes, they had the more…

Yes, they had the more talented team, but not that much more talented.  The importance of intangibles can be overestimated but when the disparity between expected and actual outcomes is that great, something beyond x’s, o’s, Jimmies and Joes has to be invoked.  Repugnant as the piece was to read, I think it was mostly accurate.

See, I’m not sure they are…

See, I’m not sure they are all that flawed. I think they lacked discipline and focus throughout the season, and this game was able to coalesce them.  That was a damn good team that ran us off the field yesterday.  I bet the playoffs can do it for them too.  I just hope their underachieving performance before this game is enough to keep them out of the 4th slot.

Yes.  I would trade an 8-4…

Yes.  I would trade an 8-4 season but a win in Columbus with this season and the embarrassment we suffered yesterday.  In a heartbeat.  I would happily watch 2-3 seasons like that going forward.  Regaining an equal footing in this rivalry is a necessary prerequisite to achieving true national relevance.  We have been living in a mirage for the past few weeks.

Go Bluuuuuue!!!!!
Small sample size In my four years at Michigan I didn’t come across any small town meatheads or alcoholics.
Yup Yup
But...we didn't run out of But...we didn't run out of time at the end of the game. We had plenty of time on the clock to get where we needed to go.
Myer replaced...a great Myer replaced...a great coach. A terrible person, but a great coach who had built a nationally dominant dominant program.
How did we come up with this How did we come up with this notion that the flag and the national anthem are inexorably fused with our armed services and their sacrifices? That if you don't show "proper" respect for the anthem you are automatically disrespecting our service men and women? I am a veteran and I don't think the anthem is for me as a service member. Those symbols are for all of us as a country and the greatest potential we can achieve. If any of us feels we as a country are failing to live up to that potential, and doesn't feel they should stand for the anthem, can't they do that without disrespecting the troops?

The most egregious oversight The most egregious oversight was the statement claiming he was known for his pleated khakis--below a pic of him wearing plain-front khakis. Clueless.
This is what the Super Bowl is supposed to make you do.

Congratulations! Congratulations!
Technically no...

They didn't know he had suffered a fracture/dislocation of the hip.  But their man was down in the end zone, right in front of the student section.  But yeah, telling that it was the FIRST thing they thought to do.

*Context*

Ran over and mocked U of M student section...WHILE THEIR OWN TEAMMATE WAS SUFFERING WITH A HIP FRACTURE SEVERAL FEET AWAY!  That, to me, encapsulates the institutional classlessness that fuels my personal Sparty hate.

Honestly--none of this really Honestly--none of this really matters to me. We are not a playoff team, whether we "lost" to Sparty or not. Sparty won't be there either. This season has already exceeded expectations, and the rest of the season comes down to The Game. If we improve enough and win it--awesome. If not--I'm looking forward to next year, and for now will just enjoy watching this defense push around the rest of the B1G.
I happened to be in the I happened to be in the northeast end of the stadium and watched in horror as that play unfolded from a perspective behind Rudock along a line of sight to Perry. It was a bad throw, dude.
We are staying in the same We are staying in the same hotel as the Utah players and the hotel is crawling with maize and blue. We were on the elevator with some of the players and they were commenting to each other how many Michigan fans were here.
You don't have a problem If you're only checking hourly.

Not mutually exclusive

I'm with Sam Webb.  It is entirely possible to believe that Devin is the right QB for this team, and gives it the best chance to win, AND to believe that he needed to not start the Minnesota game.  He was shaken during/after Utah.

Actually it is accurate.

At the continuing medical education conference I attended in 2011 in Ann Arbor, Dr. Kutcher (presumably the neurologist to whom Brandon refers) discussed brain injuries using the more modern terminology.  So unless Dr. Kutcher "dumbed it down" for Brandon (not all that far-fetched, I suppose), Brandon is using the "mild" qualifier to make this sound more palatable.

Who is in charge?

msoccer, as another doc, I of course agree with your take about being "knocked silly" without a concussion.  Futhermore, I listened to the game on the radio while driving, and when I heard Morris was going in for a play when Gardiner's helmet came off, I thought it was outrageous--and that was without even the benefit of seeing the hit, or the TV announcers' commentary.  I thought it was evidence of Hoke's incompetence and evidence he should be gone, now.  I feel even stronger about that after watching the tape.  But still...if Morris did have a sideline evaluation by the medical staff, is that really on the coach to "pre-empt" the medical staff?  Again, I wasn't there, but it certainly seems to me that Morris should have had a full head-injury sideline assessment, and did not.  Is that really Hoke's fault? Shouldn't he be able to rely on the trainers?  As a UMMS grad, I sure have a lot of faith in the UM healthcare system, and assume that's where the staff comes from.  I'm really angry about what happened, I'm just not quite sure where that anger should be directed.

I'll give him one play I'm sort of ok with him taking a play before he realizes/someone makes him aware Morris has a problem. But then he *put him back in* instead of burning a time out after ample opportunity to properly evaluate the situation. That's what makes the sequence, though not "cataclysmic", damning.
Armchair I happen to be a doctor, and from my vantage point (yes, an armchair) none of those with responsibility to keep the kids out of unnecessarily dangerous situations (Hoke, trainers) can be trusted with that responsibility anymore. Was it a concussion? Can't say with 100% certainty. But obviously likely. What is undeniable is that Morris could no longer protect himself on the foeld.

The Sprouts

Do you enjoy eating brussels sprouts? I hope you won't be put off by my frankness when I tell you that I absolutely love them. In fact, I enjoy no food item more than a freshly-boiled brussels sprout.

Now, I've done a lot of movies, and it's true that I've worked with quite a few celebrities who did not share this opinion. I'm sorry to say that these people have always angered me. There are two types of people in this world: those who eat brussels sprouts whenever it is possible to do so, and those who opt to do other things with their free time.

Who do the latter think they are kidding? What pastime could be more rewarding than the consumption of brussels sprouts? I haven't yet found one, and I don't expect to in my lifetime.

Unlike other foods, brussels sprouts can be eaten at any time, in any place, and it is not necessary to cook them. Now, I ask you: Why not eat brussels sprouts? They are delicious. I carry a bag of brussels sprouts with me wherever I go. I eat them from the bag whenever I get the urge, regardless of the circumstances. When I make a movie, my brussels sprouts are my co-stars. If, in the middle of a scene, I decide I want to consume a brussels sprout, I do so. I waste the director's time and thousands of dollars in film stock, but in the end, it is all worth it, because I enjoy eating brussels sprouts more than I enjoy acting.

This bothers some people. I was supposed to portray Batman, but when Tim Burton learned of my brussels sprout cravings, he asked Michael Keaton to wear the cape. To this day, I am peeved about this.

When we filmed The Dead Zone, I ate over 800 brussels sprouts a day. It was necessary. My character needed to come across as intense as possible, and I found the inspiration for that intensity in my intense love for brussels sprouts. The director, David Cronenberg, said that he would never work with me again. I kept eating brussels sprouts when the cameras were rolling, and that seemed to bother him. I say f*ck him. He doesn't even like brussels sprouts.

I would like to end by emphasizing once again that I really like to eat brussels sprouts. If any of you people disagree, I loathe you. I despise you. Not only that, but I also despise all your loved ones. I want to see them torn to pieces by wild dogs. If I ever meet you in person, I'll smash your brains in with a f*cking bat. Then we'll see who doesn't like brussels sprouts.
