|7 hours 7 min ago||I care about it if we win...||
...if we lose, it doesn't mean anything. It's all about the regular season.
|7 hours 9 min ago||I'd rather have neither...||
If Sparty and Nebraska win then MSU gets the #2, Wisconsin gets the #3 and Nebraska is with us at the #4.
THAT is what I'm rooting for. I don't want OSU OR IOWA.
I realize Iowa would be a #5 and still on our side, but they'd be playing on the first day and would have to win 2 games to see us assuming we won our 1st game.

Completely missed the joke and got offended, lol
|7 hours 21 min ago||Uhhh....||
|7 hours 22 min ago||I think||
I'll drool on your pillow. So there.
|7 hours 24 min ago||He's not a big man at Michigan||
So that theory is kind of out the window.
You still need to develop a post game offensively and defensively if you're going to play SF in the NBA.
Hell, you need to if you're going to play SG in the NBA.
There aren't too many sucessful SF's in the NBA that don't have SOME resemblance of a post game or can't guard another SF in the post.
GRIII (or Stauskas) haven't developed ANY part of that yet. Even THJ had a little before he left, he loved to post up PGs that switched on him. I rarely see GRIII do anything and I don't think I've EVER seen Stauskas play downlow even on a mismatch.
It doesn't need to be a bread and butter, they don't even need to be GOOD. Just average to compliment their other talents.
That said, you can say that about 3-4 things for GRIII and I mentioned them above.
|7 hours 30 min ago||Maize are for bigger games...||
We've kind of already established that. Even though we wear them so much that at this point it's more "white for cupcakes" and "maize for everyone else."
I suppose you can wear the maize against the Houston Baptist's of the world, but it really doesn't make a different to me. White for me signals a game that usually doesn't matter.
|7 hours 32 min ago||^||
|7 hours 33 min ago||I was going to say the same thing...||
They wore them vs. Ohio.
|7 hours 35 min ago||Wow||
You think Dave Brandon is picking out uniforms?
If he is...he should be fired.
Can't stand YOU PEOPLE who want to use any excuse possible to bag on Brandon and have no idea what you're talking about. As clarified in the next post about Martin signing the contract.
The Brandon stuff is old. It's like the joke about James Harrison getting fined every time someone in the NFL does something wrong.
|7 hours 39 min ago||Wait!||
What if it's BadgERS?! And it's just their white jerseys?
OMG! HEAD ASPLODE!
|18 hours 41 min ago||#3||
Don't forget about LeVert AND...I mean AND! his defender both heading back down court before Nik shoots the ball.
It's one thing for Walton and now LeVert to head back early. But now Illinois is like "Fool me once, shame on me...fool me 14 times...I'm not waiting around for 15."
|18 hours 43 min ago||One more thought||
I thought we had the richest contract with Adidas?
Our contract made other schools run and head for the hills.
Why the FUCK are we doing things like every other Adidas school?
This is MICHIGAN. We should ALWAYS have our stuff customized.
Does Oregon follow the Nike template? No. And they're OREGON! They ARE the NIKE template. People don't get to do anything they do...
Michigan should always be different than everyone else. I'm not saying no alternates - I'm saying, we should be the only school that gets to put a block logo on the front of the football jersey. Our basketball (and every other sport) should be one of a kind too.
|18 hours 47 min ago||We did.||
We all HATED the maize, but we wore the blue...I think against PSU in the tournament.
|18 hours 48 min ago||They're not bad.||
But they're not good.
...and I don't want to change ANYTHING about what we're doing. Why can't we play around with these in the non-conference?
|1 day 6 hours ago||Here's what I'm hoping||
|1 day 6 hours ago||I do...||
Because in the NBA you can easily get pigeon holed into a role if you're a Stauskas or THJ.
THJ made the GREAT decision to come back his Junior year. And a GREAT decision to leave.
His shot selection improved but people don't realize how much his defense improved and he added a VERY solid handle. He couldn't cross halfcourt with the ball vs. Arkansas or OSU his sophomore year. His junior year he was almost a backup PG. He broke VCU's havoc for an entire half!
THJ got a lot better from year 2 to year 3 and wasn't going to improve that much more if he returned this year.
In turn look at his rookie year. He got drafted in the exact same spot he would have after his sophomore year...and now he's going to get ROY votes due to his development at Michigan. He didn't get pigeon holed into an 8th man role.
If Stauskas leaves now or next year I don't think it changes where he's drafted. I think it could completely change his career. If he leaves now...IMO he's sitting on a bench until someone needs his offense. He develops a little more like THJ did and I think he's an NBA starter. Not an all-star but a 4th option and consistent weapon.
|1 day 6 hours ago||I think everyone should come back...||
And not just because I'm selfish.
They all have a shit ton to improve on.
Right now Stauskas is some mix between Gordon Hayward, Ray Allen and Grevis Vasquez.
He's likely a 6th or 7th man because he's not going to be able to stay in front of anyone and he doesn't have a handle to be a starting combo guard like Vasquez. He's not physical enough in the post to be Hayward. However...he could work all summer and actually be a good as both in both of those categories. Defensively he's better, but he's not even close right now. Offensively if he develops a better handle and a slight postgame. He's a fringe lottery player. I'd come back for ONE more year.
McGary needs to play a full year...natural progression and a full year makes him a late first round lock and a potential steal.
GRIII I spoke about above. If he can do those things and stop playing like he's trying to impress the cheerleaders...he's a lock for the lottery.
LeVert definitely needs one more year to get bigger. But he MAY be ready at the end of next year. I think he'll be where Stauskas is now. A #15-#20 type no matter if he comes out after next year or after his senior year. IMO he should stay all 4 and get that year of being "the guy."
Irvin is 2 years away. Right now he's improving but he's still a chucker that offers little else. He needs to develop all aspects of his game but I think 2 years and he's done. No senior year.
Walton is somewhat of a wildcard because he's going to get better but I don't see him getting lottery pick better. So really I think after next year he should leave if he wants. Just going to depend of if he likes college and wants to stay. He's a guy that I see getting hurt each year he stays (draft wise). I think he's a 20s type Chalmers/Cole level player after next year...Top of the 2nd round after his junior year and mid 2nd round after his senior year.
I'd lock GRIII in the gym with J-Mo this summer and tell Jordan to guard him tough all summer and make him better and more physical. Stauskas just needs to work on having some resemblance of a post game and defensive foot speed. He also needs to get better using his left and playing on both sides of the floor.
LeVert is unorthodox like Manu or Harden but it works. He just has to master his skillset and continue to get bigger.
McGary needs one year in J-Mo's minutes and needs to be 2013 NCAA effective over an entire year.
Walton needs one more year. Irvin needs 2.
Glad Horford is returning in his role...I could see Max B leaving and doing the grad school thing after next year ala McLimans.
If Walton leaves after next year...Spike likely starts as a senior.
We need a big time post in this recruiting class...BAD.
|1 day 7 hours ago||No.||
He needs to be more assertive and more aggressive and tougher on both ends of the floor.
His 3 point shot is the last thing he needs to worry about in comparison to everything else. Right now he does absolutely nothing well except be a freak athlete and find holes in the defense when he's playing without the ball.
He needs to improve his defense, his shot off the dribble, his low post game and his defensive rebounding all before worrying about his 3 point shot.
|1 day 7 hours ago||Funny...||
A freshman Derrick Walton did this EXACT same thing in East Lansing this year and everyone thought it was adorable.
But Jalen is cocky, arrogant and a thug.
|1 day 10 hours ago||There are only two...||
Zak Novak and Stu Douglass.
End of list.
Trey Burke marks the "return to greatness" and Jordan Morgan was there to see it all.
|1 day 10 hours ago||I've been watching names forever now...||
...but I haven't watched anyone commit in I don't know how long.
All of this hype. Wake me up when it's worth being excited over.
|1 day 13 hours ago||A couple other things to note from the Stauskas shot...||
Watch how Spike just continues his motion back down court.
Also, I love that Caris appears for .2 seconds and then disappears never to be seen in the clip again - in fact, the guy who's guarding him also realizes that it's Stauskas that shot the ball and heads in the opposite direction before he even makes it.
He looks right at Nik shooting, gives up and jogs back down the floor with Caris who is probably already in the paint playing helpside by himself.
|1 day 13 hours ago||I've watched over and over...||
...just to watch Dakich in the 2nd half.
Ace, whenever you get the time...I'd like a Dakich celebration .gif highlight tape.

We can always +2.

The thought is...
I'm going to preview something with you...allow you to learn it on your own and give time for it to soak in for a week. Then we're going to come back and really jump into the material.
IMO, it's a very smart way to extend spring practice. Now they can go watch film and practice on their own and know what exactly they're looking at and looking for.
IMO it eases the learning curve rather than repeating something for a month and being done with it until the fall.
Guys now can come back, show what they learned and be corrected.
I've always said, if it were me...I'd stretch spring practice out literally and LONG as I could.
Guys can still call coaches and ask questions, they can still work with each other, they can still learn while on "break."
I know for me...if the coaches gave me a brand new playbook before break and we never talked about it beforehand, it would look like Chinese. But if we had 2-3 days to go over basic concepts and termenology, I could really dive into it and self-teach.
Same thing with MGoBlog...people try reading the UFR's without any "training" and then they bitch about it because they don't know what it means. For us that have been in the threads where things are explained or read the acronyms, it becomes a useful tool to breakdown the game from the week before.
