to play football, not to play trumpet

- Someone said the other day we didn't need WRs in this class - that person was wrong. We don't need a ton, but DPJ is a must and we'll need another big possession type WR.
- That OT position makes me want to vomit (or the lack of sleep) - we need Wilson and Slaton to go with Hall.
- Umm...yea, we're going to need some DTs in this class.
- I'm going to go out on a limb and say CB is a must. The fact that we could easily start start Long and Hill in 2017 is scary. The only other option right now is Washington - who we haven't seen. We especially need some bigger CBs.
- Yes, I'm praying for another year of Peppers. We're awful at safety. I'm not ready to move Peppers to a true S spot because he's so good where he plays and he wasn't the best in coverage. If/When he moves, it'll be to replace Delano Hill at SS.

Walker should be a So. - missed that one. Thanks for the heads up!
Edit: And Higdon should be a Jr. I missed that entire line.

I put Watson as a CB in the way. Clark is a CB.
Really I think he's a Peppers NB. Which makes him a S. But I ran out of bodies.
I disagree on this year. In your scenario...why not just put Clark at S and leave Lewis and Strib at CB?
We have 6 DBs this year who we KNOW can play. In that situation you just got Lewis, Strib...then Peppers stays at NB...Clark and the healthy Thomas/Hill at safety.

These things are exhausting. There's a new one every week. I'm retiring, I'm still tired after the Hourning Award for Jabrill.
Best of luck to you all and the daily poll voting.

When people call Nebraska a Midwestern state. It's to the point where I'd rather Michigan and Ohio be in the Mideast and give Midwest to the great plains states.
As for Kentucky. I agree, however they're truly in the transition zone where north meets south. Virginia is the same way. Both are south by historical terms, and if you look at laws...they're southern. However when you compare them to those deep south states...you find that there are pockets out in the sticks that feel like the deep south but then you have more populated areas in both states that are far more progressive and northern feeling.
IMO, the big cities in the deep south...still feel southern. Tidewater, Richmond, NoVA, Louisville don't feel southern to me. In fact a lot of Kentucky just feels like boring ass southern Ohio to me.
Just my two pennies.

ASU and FSU blow them all out of the water. UCF is right there - it helps when you have 60,000+. Then Bama and Ole Miss. Ole Miss is insane all the daughters of former beauty pageant hopefuls.
I've got UK right behind those schools. In line with Texas, UGA, maybe Florida, Tennessee and USC.
|1 hour 39 min ago||Well the fact that the||
Well the fact that the coaches had enough confidence in him to design plays for him early in games and give him snaps that weren't mop up duty offsets that for me.
I'll trust the coaches confidence in him versus what I saw in a small sample size.
And I said he didn't do anything production wise. But that he just missed on a couple of big plays. Does it count? No. But I don't lose confidence because he slipped on a one and there was a missed block on another. I believe a penalty took him off of the field for a third play that looked like a big gainer.
Regardless, the coaches have enough confidence in him to play him early and in moments that made all of us go "wait, what?" And in those moments he did show speed. Just because a holding penalty brings it back doesn't mean he wasn't displaying his speed when everyone was live. It just means the play doesn't count and his stats will suffer.
|12 hours 12 min ago||Jabrill Peppers||
In all serious...HIGDON. He was used as the speed back last year and missed on a couple of big gainers. Let's see what he can do before we write him off.
Kareem also has some shake to him.
These freshman plus Peppers will be plenty of speed to counter Smith and Isaac.
Drake Johnson is probably the most balanced of the bunch and Chris Evans may get some carries.

You should've stopped.
You simply can't lump everyone together like that on anything. For every person you may think is weak-minded or lazy...I'll find plenty more that have a chemical imbalance in their brain they cannot control.
Depression isn't just a mood. Much of it can be completely and 100% involuntary and something you can't change (without help and medication) any more than you can change your blood type.
Read a fucking book. Before you do, stop generalizing so damn much.
|1 day 4 hours ago||Yikes||
That's 6-12 guys who are currently in high school that could be starting in 2017. And about half of them don't have slashes next to their names. Sure one is Gary and another is Nordin, but still. The OL, the LBs, the CBs.
God, please bless us with grad transfers.

I think Eubanks will be flexed out as a TE playing WR like Funchess was. McKeon as the natural/balanced TE ala Jake Butt. Asiasi as the big, blocking TE who can catch like AJ Williams.
Oh it's going DOOOOWN.

100% agree. And that includes in the NFL...
The who play because they love the game is stupid.
If you believe that...that's like thinking all top high school football and basketball players are in college because they enjoy it, no, many - maybe even the majority are simply buying their time for their turn at the NBA or NFL. Cardale Jones didn't go to OSU to play school.

Is he still playing? I got the idea that he was done...thus finding something different and simply bitching about his former job.
|1 day 6 hours ago||I'm sure he had hundreds of||
I'm sure he had hundreds of thousands of reasons.
I watched Russillo & Kanell last week and Kanell and Dilfer had this discussion. Danny asked Trent how many players in the NFL he felt were in the NFL for reasons other than their love for football.
Trent said "50-60%" and Danny said "WOW! I thought you'd go higher...I would say more than 75%"
The point was, on an NFL roster, there are far more guys who don't like their job or don't play "for the love of the game" than their are that do.
Both agreed that the truly GREAT players, 9 out of 10 of them all "truly love the game." But how many of those guys are really in the league 20-25?
Most everyone else is just collection a check and trying not to riddle himself with lifelong injuries in the process.
The NFL is waaaaaaay different than playing in college. It's a job.
Let's take a poll on MGoBlog and see how many people "truly love" their jobs? Who would do their job for free or half the money versus who is just there because it pays or affords them some other opporunity or perk?
Or look at your job...how many people do you work with do it because they love it? I work in college athletics where you almost HAVE to love your job to do it...I still could find plenty of people that would walk tomorrow if another job paid more or provided better benefits than what they're getting from the University.

He probably meant Winovich...Chase moved back.
Otherwise, this is a great list. You all know I take my depth charts seriously, very well done. I'd probably change the ratings a little here and nothing, but nothing too drastic.

Jones, Kemp, Uche, McCray...
I think Marshall and Johnson will backup Charlton at the WDE spot.

His injury in the game was leg cramps. This has to be a result of winter conditioning.

I love Strong, but if he doesn't win 8 next year, he's done. And if he does win 8, those 4 losses better be close and perfectly timed, because if they're end of the season blowouts, 8 won't even be enough.

This class would have finished in a similar spot to Michigan this year. I believe it's a 288 on 247sports. That's generally a #4-#6 spot. So it's a very realistic class.
