...not even a little bit unless it means he's Andrew Luck in his final year at Stanford and DG moving back to WR.
Don't see that one coming from Shane next year...but hey, you never know, right?
|9 hours 25 min ago||Final Time.||
Morris cannot redshirt THIS YEAR. (Still no idea how that was ever implied...but whatever, for the record. NO ONE was asking for this when the naysayers all started talking like they knew what they were talking about)
Morris CAN redshirt NEXT YEAR. And this is the only thing people have been discussing. (No one has said he will, everyone knows it's unlikely, but it CAN happen...hence the hypothetical debate)
Okay, now that that's cleared up. Please move along.
|9 hours 30 min ago||Who in the world was talking about this season?||
I don't even see how that could be implied if one read the chain of posts.
|9 hours 31 min ago||IMO||
I blame some of the reporting...stop asking questions on Gardner. He's been hurt for 4 weeks and he's a senior (RS JR).
Ask questions about the future. Last year we heard about Drake Johnson during this time and he opened the year as the #2 RB.
How are the redshirt guys doing? Is there anyone that would play significant minutes if the rules allowed you to play a redshirt in the bowl game? How's Darboh? What about the young OL? Is Dymonte getting more reps?
Those are all questions that we should know the answers to during bowl practice. Yet we're asking about Gardner's health over and over.
|9 hours 37 min ago||Nothing substantial||
I just wasn't the biggest fan from what I've seen. I desperately hope I'm wrong. But that's just me, he seemed out of shape, sloppy and a little soft. Seemed like a project, I understand the offer...no question. If he hits the potential I'm sure he's all conference. And I didn't say he wouldn't be, I just said it would be awhile.
But I'm not going off of offer sheets or something I read. Just a personal opinion/prediction. I said the same about that Posada kid who never enrolled. I also think it's going to take Dawson another couple years (but sooner than LTT, however he has more competition). Kugler and Bosch were the guys I thought would lead that stellar class of OL.
I'm not claim to be Tom Lemming or Ace or Magnus on this one...simply a thought. It's unlikely that they ALL pan out.
|9 hours 45 min ago||Fair enough||
Just your opinion...can't argue without knowing more info.
Which is why it would be nice to know who's practicing where on the OL right now.
|9 hours 48 min ago||Redshirting doesn't mean he's behind Bellomy||
Redshirting doesn't mean he's behind Bellomy on the depth chart.
You can still practice with the 2nd team in practice. You can still gameplan and prepare like the backup QB.
I hate this thought that's like if you redshirt, you're not on the team for a year. You just go to class and that's it.
No, he can do everything the same...it's just about GAME experience. If DG was hurt, you'd put Morris in. If you're up 40 in the 4th vs. a MAC school. You put Bellomy in. Or what if you're not up or down by enough in ANY game? As we've seen, that's not impossible.
|9 hours 54 min ago||Well let's discuss a million and one.||
How is Hagerup redshirting? He's not hurt.
You have no idea what you're talking about...but this is fun, so carry on.
|9 hours 56 min ago||How was he being a jerk?||
He was sharing an idea based on a hypothetical situation that many of us know is unrealistic. He didn't bash anyone in his post whatsoever.
|9 hours 58 min ago||Not a bad idea...||
This is like the opposite of redshirting him if he's only going to get crap time.
The problem is...no coach in the world is going to sacrifice one year for the next. Hoke would be nuts to put a new QB in a close game unless the current QB is THAT bad or he's hurt.
I'd argue that this is even more unlikely of a scenario. Even though on paper it's better than playing him 20 snaps vs. crap teams (against their 3 team, with our 3 teams and handing the ball off 90% of those snaps)
At least this would give game experience.but again, not happening. People wanted to fire Hoke THIS year. Could you imagine putting Morris in for a series and breaking the rhythm of the offense and us losing because of it? Or what if he does well and it's just one good series vs. him actually being the better QB. Now you have a QB controversy.
|18 hours 10 min ago||Can't happen.||
Texas just hired ASU's AD and in his agreement with ASU as a part of his release and contract with Texas it says he can't bring along any coaches or senior level administration from ASU.
|18 hours 13 min ago||For the 8th time...||
...yes he can.
You may be confusing Shane with someone who got a medical redshirt...because if that's the case, then no, they lose their "traditional" redshirt.
In Shane's case, like every other student athlete in America. He gets 5 years to play 4. He can pretty much redshirt at any point as long as he hasn't sat for a medical or something like that.
He could go do a mission next year and redshirt if he wanted...When he got back he'd be a redshirt sophomore. It doesn't matter. Unlikely doesn't mean it absolutely can't happen.
It's unlikely that any coach has ever redshirted two seniors in three years...but Hoke did - even though the first time Stonum messed up and got kicked off the team.
|18 hours 20 min ago||Yes he can.||
Hagerup is redshirting now. Stonum was going to do it as a senior.
He can...it's just extremely unlikely.
|18 hours 22 min ago||Except LT||
Hopefully Braden (or Magnuson if Braden is RT and Mags is LT) is the real deal and that buys us time to get a couple more OTs in the '15 class.
It'll be very interesting to see who the 3rd OT is.
Bryant is clearly the 3rd guard unless Miller beats Glasgow out. You also have Burzynski if he a. Returns and b. Is healthy.
However, at OT you have Braden who rumored to be your LG in August of this year and Magnuson who has played both LG and RG this year and started at LG vs. OSU.
Even still if you consider them "natural" OTs...you probably have Fox and Samuelson battling for the 3rd OT spot unless they kick Kalis out to OT and bring in one of the guards that I mentioned.
|18 hours 27 min ago||Uhh||
|18 hours 31 min ago||I didn't say he deserved it...||
But we got no one else.
You could make an argument that he and Braden are the only two scholarship guys on the TEAM with the ideal height/body/build and potential skillset for LT. We've done a great job on the interior line (thank God after watching this team)...very disappointed that we didn't get a LT in this class. Still time and we didn't have many options...but IMO we've always needed one.
He's a freshman so I'm gonna get killed...but I don't see LTT ever being a legitimate starter before his RS senior year. I hope I'm wrong.
Would be nice to have the next #77 redshirting next year.
|18 hours 37 min ago||I'm aware.||
However, Michigan has their QB...and they took him over Cornwell. They're also full at WR so Kief is out. The Iowa kid flipped from Iowa and has been committed since August...pretty safe to say if he goes anywhere, it's back to Iowa (or Wisconsin where he camped). IMO he falls in your Texas commits that never looked at Michigan seriously category.
Hand is really the only one...but I mentioned Scarborough because we've gone back and forth on whether we're going to recruit a RB. Plus he's waivering.
|18 hours 45 min ago||No question.||
It's highly unlikely, but the "what if" was if DG was healthy all year. If that's the case, then I think you go ahead and redshirt Morris, let him practice as the #2, but Bellomy gets the crap time playing time.
It's a hypothetical and it's not like it's never happened before where a starting QB goes an entire year without getting hurt or dinged.
|19 hours 8 min ago||Actually a legitimate question||
Because I'd assume Lewan and Schofield are sitting for the most part.
I'm really interested as to who kicks out to OT next year. I'm going to assume the following:
1st Team: Braden / Bosch / Glasgow / Kalis / Magnuson
2nd Team: Tuley-Tillman / Bryant / Miller / Burzynski / Fox
Kugler, Bars, Dawson and Samuelson will certainly challenge for PT.
|19 hours 18 min ago||You know you love it.||
|19 hours 28 min ago||FYI||
ESPN is again reporting that Brown is resigning...
Texas doesn't look to have any commits that Michigan would recruit. If Saban went, Bama has Hand and possibly RB Bo Scarbrough.
Unless Texas knows 100% that Saban is coming, IMO, this isn't a good move. Sumlin and Briles have signed longterm deals. Strong is probably be the best candidate left, and he's going to be around next year and the year after if you wanted him then.
|19 hours 33 min ago||Same rule as always...just like Hagerup this year.||
And no. He just can't play.
That said, I would agree with you if Gardner stays healthy and all Morris is going to see is crap time in September.
|1 day 9 hours ago||It's gotta be Saban to Texas||
This could be huge for Michigan...fingers crossed.
I don't care about Dino leave, I actually want him to stay so we can beat his ass...I just want Narduzzi out of there.

He knows what's up.
Dave Brandon was like "look man, you owe us...we played in that dump of a stadium...now take their defensive coordinator so we can win again. Be a Michigan Man and take one for the team."

|2 days 19 hours ago||My Initial Picks||
...I put ZERO thought into this...but at least someone can copy and past and make their own picks if they'd like.
|2 days 19 hours ago||Hoke and Borges recruit heavily in Arizona||
And all out west...that to me is the best part of playing in this crap bowl.
|2 days 19 hours ago||Exactly.||
Which is why we need to play well so we can DVR and watch this all offseason when we're board. So we can go into the 2014 season feeling like we're going to be a top 5 team because we've watched us destroy KSU 239 times in 9 months.
|2 days 19 hours ago||Wow||
Horrible argument...how do you pull one year out of all the years we've been in bowls.
Why not pull whatever bowl we were in after the 96-97 season? That springboarded us to a national championship.
Very selective data.
2008? It was Lloyd Carr's last game and we got a new coach with a completely new system and lost our entire team from the year before.
Next year we return 90% of our team, have a solid recruiting class and the same coach will return. How in ANY way does that compare to 2008?
